<Format>:

[player]-[player] [result] [# of MOVES]

==4 Different Scoring Methods==

Standard Moves Ranker (1st place-Over[3pts], 1st place-Under [7pts], Exact [10pts])

Bonus Ranker (3rd place-Over[1pts],2nd place-Over[2pts],3rd place-Under [5pts], 2nd place-Under [6pts]

Standard Moves/Bonus Ranker [Add all to together]

1st place Ranker [how many 1st place you have in Standard Moves Ranker]

For example:

<Note: Participants 3, 4, and 5 are predicated on nobody scoring an exact as Participant 2 did. If someone hits an exact, the closest score under and over will score the points for second place.>

Actual Game: [player]-[player] 0-1 45

Participant 1: [player]-[player] 1/2 45
Participant 2: [player]-[player] 0-1 45
Participant 3: [player]-[player] 0-1 44
Participant 4: [player]-[player] 0-1 43
Participant 5: [player]-[player] 0-1 46

Participant 1: No points even though 45 is correct. Results must be correct. If Result is wrong and moves # is correct...you get no points whatsoever

Participant 2: 10 pts rewarded for correct Result/moves #

Participant 3: 7 pts rewarded for closest under (1st-Under) to 45 moves

Participant 4: 6 pts rewarded for the 2nd closest under (2nd-Under) to 45 moves.

Participant 5: 3 pts rewarded closest OVER(1st-OVER) to 45 moves.

Again, the description of Participant 3, 4, and 5 are based on there being no exact prediction as made by Participant 2.

<IF> there is an exact or an under closest, the highest scoring over participant will be 2nd over. The second closest over will be 3rd over. The <ONLY> time there will be a first over is if there is no exact or under winner.

Moves Prediction Contest

Aug-03-13  wordfunph: Round 9

Andreikin - Leko 1/2 43
Caruana - Fridman 1-0 45
Adams - Kramnik 1/2 35
Wang Hao - Meier 1/2 43
Naiditsch - Khenkin 1-0 45

Aug-03-13  NakoSonorense: Andreikin - Leko 1/2 32
Caruana - Fridman 1-0 34
Adams - Kramnik 1/2 33
Wang Hao - Meier 1/2 34
Naiditsch - Khenkin 1-0 46
Aug-04-13  WinKing: Round 9

Andreikin - Leko 1/2 45
Caruana - Fridman 1/2 40
Adams - Kramnik 1/2 45
Wang Hao - Meier 1/2 45
Naiditsch - Khenkin 1/2 35

Aug-04-13  Golden Executive: <WinKing>, <OhioChessFan> I picked Leko for a win for the first 3 rounds, go figure. Why I did that?. My line of thinking was:

"Well, the previous tournament Leko draw (and won a game) vs the elite players (ELO 2700+), now he is facing some less strong players so he has an edge ...."

Flawed!

<Aug-03-13 Whitehat1963: Last four tournaments to date:

+2-3=34 Simply breathtaking!>

In order to try to measure the impact of the well known -Leko´s drawish style- here in this prediction contest, I ran a simulation of scores excluding all Leko´s games:

chessmoron 46
WinKing 45
OhioChessFan 43
------------
SloVice 39
Robin01 38
Penguincw 33
wordfunph 32
PinnedPiece 27
NakoSonorense 24
Golden Executive 21
lostemperor 19
lost in space 19
twinlark 7
------------
With or without Leko, the medalists remain the same and I think is pretty fair.

Aug-04-13  Golden Executive: Dortmund 2013

Round 9

Andreikin - Leko 1/2 40
Caruana - Fridman 1/2 40
Adams - Kramnik 1/2 40
Wang Hao - Meier 1/2 40
Naiditsch - Khenkin 1/2 40

Aug-04-13  twinlark: Round 9

Andreikin - Leko 1/2 22
Caruana - Fridman 1-0 29
Adams - Kramnik 1/2 41
Wang Hao - Meier 1-0 35

Adams got a quick 14 move draw against Kramnik for the tournament win. Leko-Andreikin are playing on a while in a drawish position. Elvis is greatly interested in the Caruana-Fridman game (Gooooooo, Fridman, at least draw), a complicated French with chances on both sides. Wang Hao-Meier are using a lot of time in an even position. And Naiditsch is better against Khenkin.

Leko-Andreikin drew in 37 moves. Elvis wasn't happy to see Khenkin play an extra move in a totally lost position, as Naiditsch won in 37 moves.

Congratulations to all the winners. You had to stick your neck out there some to get your score up in Dortmond 2013. Me--Happy to provide bottom padding so you look even better!

  OhioChessFan: ♔ Final Update ♔

Congratulations to Hall of Famers <wordfunph> and <OhioChessFan> for winning 2 categories each. A very hard tournament to pick, and the last 2 rounds shocked me in the fighting chess displayed. Thanks to all participants, and to <chessmoron> for running the show, and to <WinKing> for stepping in at short notice.

Aug-04-13  WinKing: Thanks <chessmoron> for another great contest. Thanks <OhioChessFan> for hosting & keeping us informed while the tournament was in progress.

Congrats to all those fortunate enough to win medals! Special kudos to <OCF> & <wordfunph> on fine performances! Looking forward to our next encounter.

Aug-04-13  WinKing: I hope to have the HOF medal count for all contests updated within the next couple of days. Will leave a post here when it is completed.
Aug-05-13  WinKing: The Hall of Fame Gold Medal list has been updated. See my forum for details.
Aug-05-13  Golden Executive: Thanks <OhioChessFan> for hosting and commenting, and <chessmoron> for running .

Congratulations to all the winners.!

A special mention to <wordfunph> for his “second-time-in-a-row” best performance: 5 golds from 8 available for the last two tournaments!

See you guys next time.

Aug-07-13  The Last Straw: Hello everyone:
I feel very sad to announce that I may be unable to continue holding this prediction contest. A new taskload of work has taken over and I also have some important family matters to deal with. I know it has been such short time, and I have only been able to hold 2 competitions, but I still must make the change. When I first started the contest, I was completely clueless this was going to happen. If anybody would like to hold it in their forum instead, please copy all parts of my biography which are related to this contest and post a message in my forum. I will surely recognze you as the new runner of this contest.

Thank you.

Aug-08-13  wordfunph: congrats to the winners!

thanks <OCF> <chessmoron> <WinKing> <GE> and all..

jessicafischerqueen: <Ohio> I am too dumb for words really. I just now read your whole post, and where you put it and why- So I deleted the post from my forum about it.

I didn't even read your post before, just got the first line off the <chessforums> page and started laughing because I liked your sentence so much.

I didn't click on the link and go read the post because I didn't want to spoil the mystery of your sentence.

Anyways that's why I put my post in my forum. And just now, after actually reading your post, and where you put it, I see that my post was wildly inappropriate.

So clumsy, so clumsy.

Apologies to you and our dear friend.
