<Format>:

[player]-[player] [result] [# of MOVES]

==4 Different Scoring Methods==

Standard Moves Ranker (1st place-Over[3pts], 1st place-Under [7pts], Exact [10pts])

Bonus Ranker (3rd place-Over[1pts],2nd place-Over[2pts],3rd place-Under [5pts], 2nd place-Under [6pts]

Standard Moves/Bonus Ranker [Add all to together]

1st place Ranker [how many 1st place you have in Standard Moves Ranker]

For example:

<Note: Participants 3, 4, and 5 are predicated on nobody scoring an exact as Participant 2 did. If someone hits an exact, the closest score under and over will score the points for second place.>

Actual Game: [player]-[player] 0-1 45

Participant 1: [player]-[player] 1/2 45
Participant 2: [player]-[player] 0-1 45
Participant 3: [player]-[player] 0-1 44
Participant 4: [player]-[player] 0-1 43
Participant 5: [player]-[player] 0-1 46

Participant 1: No points even though 45 is correct. Results must be correct. If Result is wrong and moves # is correct...you get no points whatsoever

Participant 2: 10 pts rewarded for correct Result/moves #

Participant 3: 7 pts rewarded for closest under (1st-Under) to 45 moves

Participant 4: 6 pts rewarded for the 2nd closest under (2nd-Under) to 45 moves.

Participant 5: 3 pts rewarded closest OVER(1st-OVER) to 45 moves.

Again, the description of Participant 3, 4, and 5 are based on there being no exact prediction as made by Participant 2.

<IF> there is an exact or an under closest, the highest scoring over participant will be 2nd over. The second closest over will be 3rd over. The <ONLY> time there will be a first over is if there is no exact or under winner.

jessicafischerqueen: <Ohio> good heavens thank you for such a prompt reply. I was fairly beside myself.

I appreciate your understanding in this matter. Based just on the one sentence, it also brought back one of my fondest memories as a kid.

I wasn't a country girl but I did in fact go to one (1) pig roast. It was fabulous, there were dozens of grubby boys fighting and throwing stuff, and we peeled off the crisping skin with long forks to gobble it even before they cut up the dinner. I can feel the heat of the pig off my face as I write this.

I'm a "pro pig roast" person.

Oh dear, put it back.

WCC Editing Project: It's a wonderful sentence, but I'm afraid my post really was inappropriate given the context.

Your current discussion with our good friend <Brother wordfunph> does you credit. It's both moving and interesting to read.

It wasn't time for an appearance by "Mrs. Cheaplaugh."

WCC Editing Project: Hey why did you delete your post from the game page?

I almost cried when I read it. You didn't get where you are today by not making keenly timed gestures that are likely to help all of the people, not just your friends and such.

Anyways, on the EDIT-DATELINE OHIO front, I've posted a reply of sorts in our forum, with a few sources- one of them primary, if you can believe <Mr. Lupi>.

I think his eyewitness account is generally accepted, but we should offer this issue up for further scrutiny.

Anyways I put a half draft up of the section that you've been looking at. It's just preliminary- it's a "part of a draft suggestion" but maybe you could offer a few ideas or questions?

WCC Editing Project: I suppose everyone's waiting for the "other shoe" to drop or something.

You know the really sad thing is how few people "everyone" really is around here eh? <Tpstar> once posted his estimates of how many people actually post on a regular basis in a "social sense" around here, and the number was shockingly low (to me). I didn't doubt him though.

Maybe we should just count our blessings. We finally get to edit these intros.

OhioChessFan: <Hey why did you delete your post from the game page?>

Well, who am I to say Capa isn't a genius of the first order? And it seemed a bit of pollution, too much there already. Maybe I'll post that thought on the Argue page? I don't know.

WCC Editing Project: Well in fact your post was on topic and as such, had more right to be there than mine. I thought you might have posted at that particular moment partly to take my post off of the "front page recent kibbutzing list" just to keep the peace. At any rate I thought your point was fair dinkum.

I think you have every right to make a judgment about the game, and Capa. Why not?

If you don't find the game that hard to figure out, you can certainly say so.

On another topic, I was thinking this as I made the last post in our edit forum.

If you can edit the way you obviously can, then you can draft as well, if you had the time/inclination.

I was hoping you might take that raw info I put in there and nail the paragraph. The thing is that there's may be too much back story there, but on the other hand, the way they had it was too skimpy. Nobody could have understood what they were talking about unless they already knew the details of the story. It *is* a detailed story, and one worth telling, especially about such an historically unique event.

Anyways you are super welcome to write drafts. I find it extraordinarily difficult to do, it's like pulling teeth. As you saw, it takes me a month to write a bio.

<crawfb5> is working on a fuller draft for <Lasker-Marshall> at the moment.

WCC Editing Project: <Switch> I'm not an expert in "blue speak" but that's an impressive message.

If I'm not mistaken, you're saying

"So, does Bryan Ferry mine irony"?

In the case of this track here, I'd have to agree- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DLkQ...

I had no idea you were a Roxy Music fan.

Ummmmmmm. You have perceptively cut to the chase. I think I'd do very well if it was a Guess the Move. And I expect I could name another 20 or so members who could nail it.

Aug-16-13
Premium Chessgames Member
WCC Editing Project: Well that's the thing. Some people find a certain kind of game or even position easier to see or understand, and thus are less impressed than others with that particular game being touted as an exemplar of Master genius.

The "guess the move" feature would be an excellent way to provide concrete evidence for someone who wanted to back up their claims on a certain game.

OhioChessFan: <WCC> I'm a bit lazy to write drafts. Editing is so simple and effortless I don't think it compares to the hard work of digging up the information in the first place. Anyway, let me think about it.

jessicafischerqueen: <Ohio> it's a voluntary project so no worries on that. I suspect I'm considerably more lazy than you on this topic, but possibly no reason to have a "who is more lazy contest," as fun as that sounds. (I'd win, but I can't be arsed to actually join the contest).

I really appreciated that almost phantasmagorical proofreading fail you put on my page.

As always, well-timed. You have a knack for timing.

I bet you do in your life away from the keyboard as well, and thus have many friends, and few enemies.
