<Format>:

[player]-[player] [result] [# of MOVES]

==4 Different Scoring Methods==

Standard Moves Ranker (1st place-Over[3pts], 1st place-Under [7pts], Exact [10pts])

Bonus Ranker (3rd place-Over[1pts],2nd place-Over[2pts],3rd place-Under [5pts], 2nd place-Under [6pts]

Standard Moves/Bonus Ranker [Add all to together]

1st place Ranker [how many 1st place you have in Standard Moves Ranker]

For example:

<Note: Participants 3, 4, and 5 are predicated on nobody scoring an exact as Participant 2 did. If someone hits an exact, the closest score under and over will score the points for second place.>

Actual Game: [player]-[player] 0-1 45

Participant 1: [player]-[player] 1/2 45
Participant 2: [player]-[player] 0-1 45
Participant 3: [player]-[player] 0-1 44
Participant 4: [player]-[player] 0-1 43
Participant 5: [player]-[player] 0-1 46

Participant 1: No points even though 45 is correct. Results must be correct. If Result is wrong and moves # is correct...you get no points whatsoever

Participant 2: 10 pts rewarded for correct Result/moves #

Participant 3: 7 pts rewarded for closest under (1st-Under) to 45 moves

Participant 4: 6 pts rewarded for the 2nd closest under (2nd-Under) to 45 moves.

Participant 5: 3 pts rewarded closest OVER(1st-OVER) to 45 moves.

Again, the description of Participant 3, 4, and 5 are based on there being no exact prediction as made by Participant 2.

<IF> there is an exact or an under closest, the highest scoring over participant will be 2nd over. The second closest over will be 3rd over. The <ONLY> time there will be a first over is if there is no exact or under winner.

  OhioChessFan: ** Final Recap **

<alfamikewhiskey> powered his way to a Triple Crown, just edging out <lostemperor> in two of them. After the greatest scoring controversy since the USA-USSR basketball game in the 72 Olympics, and about 2 hours of video review, it was determined that <WinKing> did in fact win a gold medal in Bonus Ranker, along with Co-medalist <Penguincw>.

<OCF> and <chessmoron> didn't win anything.

Thanks to <chessmoron> for running things and <WinKing> for keeping him honest and to all the starters.

Thanks to everyone for playing. Hope we're up and running for the Candidates.

<Count Wedgemore> Tata18:BonusRnk(3)>

Thank you so much, but unfortunately this is not correct. To my great dismay I ended fourth, so no medals for me..

I appreciate the nice gesture, though :)

Anyways, thank you <chessmoron>, for organizing this contest. And thanks to <WinKing> for keeping track of the scoring.

And a big thank you to <OhioChessFan>, your recaps are hilarious!

So to all my new friends here, thank you so much and see ya next time!

Penguincw: Grr, what happened to my unshared gold and bronze medal...

Anyway, thanks for hosting <chessmoron> and <OhioChessFan>. Thanks to <WinKing> for keeping check of scores. Excellent work by <alfamikewhiskey> to get the triple crown, and hope to see you in March.

Jan-28-18  WinKing: Congratulations to all of the medal winners! Great job by <alfamikewhiskey> on hitting a 'Triple Crown' in grand style - kudos. You are moving right up the 'Gold Leaderboard'. Keep it up & you'll be blowing by <chessmoron> in that category in no time. ;)

offramp: Many thanks to <chessmoron>, for keeping score in this mind-boggling competition. This was a great tournament, very hard to predict.

It was reassuring to see <WinKing> as chief scrutineer. Thanks to him.

Thanks also to <OhioChessFan>, for your very funny resumés.

Jan-29-18  wordfunph: congrats to all winners!

<chessmoron> <OhioChessFan>, thank you!

OhioChessFan: <Count Wedgemore> as a nod toward how hard this contest is, ties for the medal places don't count as multiple placers. That is, even though 2 people had a tie score for the gold in Bonus Ranker, they don't count as 2 separate entries. So by the rules of this contest, yes, you did win a bronze.

lostemperor: Thanks <chessmoron> and <OhioChessFan> for another fun competition!
Jan-29-18  alfamikewhiskey: Thank you, all. That was fun.

Candidates is next up - thanks in advance for the efforts.

Jan-29-18  Count Wedgemore: <OhioChessFan: So by the rules of this contest, yes, you did win a bronze.>

Thanks for that information. My mistake, I just wrongly assumed that ties counted as multiple placers.

Well, in that case I am very content with having won my first medal. Hopefully there will be many more to come!

Jan-29-18  Golden Executive: Many thanks <chessmoron> and <OCF> for another amazing contest.

Congratulations to all the medal winners and particularly to <alfamikewhiskey> on his triple crown, way to go!!

This time I certainly did much better after such a disaster in the London contest.

See you guys next time for the Candidates Tournament. Great!!

<The front page also features a puzzle of the day, player of the day, and game of the day, the puzzle varying in difficulty throughout the week from "very easy" on Mondays to "insane" on Sundays.>

Would read better if "puzzle of the day" was last in the series so that the last clause was more closely identified with its subject.
