<Format>:

[player]-[player] [result] [# of MOVES]

==4 Different Scoring Methods==

Standard Moves Ranker (1st place-Over[3pts], 1st place-Under [7pts], Exact [10pts])

Bonus Ranker (3rd place-Over[1pts],2nd place-Over[2pts],3rd place-Under [5pts], 2nd place-Under [6pts]

Standard Moves/Bonus Ranker [Add all to together]

1st place Ranker [how many 1st place you have in Standard Moves Ranker]

For example:

<Note: Participants 3, 4, and 5 are predicated on nobody scoring an exact as Participant 2 did. If someone hits an exact, the closest score under and over will score the points for second place.>

Actual Game: [player]-[player] 0-1 45

Participant 1: [player]-[player] 1/2 45
Participant 2: [player]-[player] 0-1 45
Participant 3: [player]-[player] 0-1 44
Participant 4: [player]-[player] 0-1 43
Participant 5: [player]-[player] 0-1 46

Participant 1: No points even though 45 is correct. Results must be correct. If Result is wrong and moves # is correct...you get no points whatsoever

Participant 2: 10 pts rewarded for correct Result/moves #

Participant 3: 7 pts rewarded for closest under (1st-Under) to 45 moves

Participant 4: 6 pts rewarded for the 2nd closest under (2nd-Under) to 45 moves.

Participant 5: 3 pts rewarded closest OVER(1st-OVER) to 45 moves.

Again, the description of Participant 3, 4, and 5 are based on there being no exact prediction as made by Participant 2.

<IF> there is an exact or an under closest, the highest scoring over participant will be 2nd over. The second closest over will be 3rd over. The <ONLY> time there will be a first over is if there is no exact or under winner.

  OhioChessFan: ** Round 1 Recap **

And we’re off and running in the Norway 2018 Moves Prediction Contest. To the complete shock of the entire Chess world, <OhioChessFan> rushed to an early lead in 3 Rankers. <OCF> used his patented Coin Toss Technique to charge to a successful round. <CountWedgmeore> apparently thinks <OCF> spends more than 15 seconds per round preparing picks, as he laughably thought <OCF> was using information on the ground to determine the number of moves in the Mamedyarov-MVL game. <OCF> will admit being shocked that <sea otter> was the only other person to take the obvious White win in Carlsen-Caruana. <OCF> is also in the lead in Games Prediction, and Bookie. While nobody believes that will hold up, <OCF> is sure to brag about it excessively as he seldom gets a chance to do so.

The only negative in the day was the embarrassing moment when <OCF> burst into the playing hall and demanded Caruana resign before playing his 41st move. <OCF> said “Resign already! I could win this game with White.” Caruana responded, “Oh yeah, aren’t you the idiot that hung a Bishop in the team game?” <OCF> replied, “No, that was just a typo!”. Caruana answered, “Yeah, that’s what they all say. Get outta here, you Spacebar Master.” As security drug <OCF> away, he shouted , “I’ve scored as many points in this tournament as you have!” Meanwhile, <Winky> politely suggested to Caruana that he might be doing something that wasn’t really nice, saying “You know it’d be nice if you just resigned and quit upsetting Magnus. That would be really nice.” Caruana responded, “Weren’t you on that team that took 55 moves to win a game that was positionally won only 8 moves in?” <Winky> replied, “We couldn’t help it if those nice guys kept making pointless checks! Speaking of which……” Whereupon security escorted <Winky> out of the building also. <Winky> commented, "I hope you don't think it's mean of me to point out I've scored as many points in this tournament as you have." Not to be outdone, <Switch> was heard screaming at Caruana, “Pull your goalie! Pull your goalie!”. Whereupon security also escorted him out of the building. <Switch> yelled out as he was pulled away, "If you'd pulled your goalie, you'd have more points than me in this tournament. But you didn't and you don't!"

In other news, we are still trying to decipher <GE’s> first round pick of Russia-Uruguay 1-0. <Penguincw> is trying desperately to contact <chessmoron> by email to offer a bribe. So far, chess games.com has refused. <amw> continues to complain about draws in a contest with a rule against draws, as if anyone cares about rules. <offramp> was taken to the local hospital as he began ranting incoherently about everything he’d ever seen at a circus. Bystanders claim to have found 12 empty bottles of Gold Label beside him. <sea otter> is hoping to lull all the contestants to sleep so that they’ll miss the next round by playing a series of longgggg classical music pieces that nobody likes. <chessmoron> managed to tear himself away from beautiful Lima, Ohio to come back and run the show.

It's a short tournament, and the contestants need to be on their toes early so they don't get left behind. Only 8 rounds to go in our thrilling contest.

  OhioChessFan: ** Round 2 Recap **

We had a bit of a shakeup at the top of the standings, as <WinKing> got triple lucky or something and now leads in Moves Ranker and moved to a tie for the #1 Ranker. <Count Wedgemore> climbed on the Bonus Ranker podium and screamed at the rest of the contestants, "BRING IT ON! Oh, errr, am I shouting? Never mind." <OhioChessFan> managed to lose a couple thousand dollars in Bookie but has consoled himself with still leading in 2 Rankers here.

In other news, <juan31> has photographic evidence of collusion between Carlsen and Caruana, but has no idea how to use that information to his advantage in this contest. <amw> has taken to cloning himself to double the number of people objecting to draws in the tournament, which is a clear violation of the tournament rules. After cloning himself, that made a grand total of 2 people worried about it. Likewise, there are a grand total of 2 people on this site worried about the NHL finals, and <Penguincw> is both of them. Shockingly, there are a number of people interested in soccer, including <Golden Executive>. The fact he has a grand total of 5 points gives some indication of the mental prowess of someone who likes such a boring sport. <lostemperor> is protesting the low attendance at the Han Solo movie by refusing to post the standings of his contest until it at least matches the total revenues of Smurfs: The Lost Village. We'll clearly be waiting a while.

We're rolling now, as the contest is already near the one quarter point. (<OhioChessFan> hates tournaments that aren't a multiple of 10 games long as he never can figure out the math on what percentage or fraction or something each round is. So he just uses "near ______" and hopes nobody calls him on it.) Since we're near the one quarter point, that means there's near to three quarters left. (<OhioChessFan> did that in his head, if anyone is impressed.) Who's ready to make a charge? Can <OCF> actually hold on and win something for the first time since George W Bush was President? Will <amw> continue to complain about the draws? Will <Penguin> and <Golden Executive> be distracted by other sporting events so much they lose focus on this contest? Stay tuned for the answers to these and many other interesting questions. 7 rounds to go in our thrilling contest.
