<Format>:

[player]-[player] [result] [# of MOVES]

==4 Different Scoring Methods==

Standard Moves Ranker (1st place-Over[3pts], 1st place-Under [7pts], Exact [10pts])

Bonus Ranker (3rd place-Over[1pts],2nd place-Over[2pts],3rd place-Under [5pts], 2nd place-Under [6pts]

Standard Moves/Bonus Ranker [Add all to together]

1st place Ranker [how many 1st place you have in Standard Moves Ranker]

For example:

<Note: Participants 3, 4, and 5 are predicated on nobody scoring an exact as Participant 2 did. If someone hits an exact, the closest score under and over will score the points for second place.>

Actual Game: [player]-[player] 0-1 45

Participant 1: [player]-[player] 1/2 45
Participant 2: [player]-[player] 0-1 45
Participant 3: [player]-[player] 0-1 44
Participant 4: [player]-[player] 0-1 43
Participant 5: [player]-[player] 0-1 46

Participant 1: No points even though 45 is correct. Results must be correct. If Result is wrong and moves # is correct...you get no points whatsoever

Participant 2: 10 pts rewarded for correct Result/moves #

Participant 3: 7 pts rewarded for closest under (1st-Under) to 45 moves

Participant 4: 6 pts rewarded for the 2nd closest under (2nd-Under) to 45 moves.

Participant 5: 3 pts rewarded closest OVER(1st-OVER) to 45 moves.

Again, the description of Participant 3, 4, and 5 are based on there being no exact prediction as made by Participant 2.

<IF> there is an exact or an under closest, the highest scoring over participant will be 2nd over. The second closest over will be 3rd over. The <ONLY> time there will be a first over is if there is no exact or under winner.

OhioChessFan: Wildly entertaining game that lasted a long time with an odd material imbalance. 41...Ke5 was losing, as it gave up the skewer on the two Rooks on the long diagonal. 41...Kd7 would have been fine.

  OhioChessFan: ** Final Recap **

It was an incredible end to the tournament, as <WinKing> had serious chances of a Quadruple Crown until the very end. He ended up with a gold and 3 silvers in an impressive effort. <OhioChessFan> shocked the sports world by having a successful final round to end up with 2 golds. <chessmoron> was so overcome with emotion by his 2 gold medals he couldn't even give the awards speech at the closing ceremonies. <Diademas> had a great final round to sneak in with a tied gold in #1 Ranker. We ended up with 10 contestants medalling.

Thanks to <chessmoron> and <WinKing> for running things and to everyone for playing. Hope to see everyone next time in Isle of Man or Hoogeveen or maybe Chigorin.

Aug-27-18  WinKing: Thanks <chessmoron> for running the show. A little more challenging when you have 16 contestants. Thanks also to <OhioChessFan> for hosting and providing some controversial commentary lol. Where else can you get entertainment like that?

Congratulations to all of the medal winners & there were quite a few! Special 'grats' to <chessmoron> & <OhioChessFan> for putting on a display of how the game should be played. They both brought home a couple of Golds for their trophy case. I would like you all to recognize <Diademas> our newest Hall of Famer. He had a nice final round scoring 23pts. which helped him win Gold in the 1st Ranker. He also becomes the 24th member of the 'Daily Double' club having won at least one Gold medal in 2 of the 3 prediction games - well done!

Not sure when our next contest will be but I hope to see all of you there.

Aug-28-18  chessmoron: The <NEXT CONTEST> will be on Nov 11 for <World Chess Championship> between Carlsen and Caruana.
Aug-28-18  wordfunph: <OCF> <chessmoron> <WinKing>, thank you.

to all winners, congrats!

Aug-28-18  alfamikewhiskey: Thank you for your efforts in organising the contest, and congrats to the medalists!
Aug-28-18  DerDiemer: <OCF> <chessmoron> <WinKing>, thank you very much for an awesome contest, and congrats to all winners.

There are, cough cough, three strong tournaments in October. Just saying.

Truly my greatest achievement to date.
I'm clearing the refrigerator door of pathetic drawings from children and grandchildren. A framed screenshot of the HoF will forever take their place.

Aug-28-18  Golden Executive: Thanks to the crew for another exciting contest and congratulations to all the medal winners, especially to <Diademas> on his entrance to the Hall of Fame.

This time I had the opportunity to watch the whole last round and noticed how useful are <WK>'s posts with all the contestants picks. It helps a lot to increase the excitement mainly when we are fighting for a place at the podium. Just great!

I had thought I will never regret to win an Exact in the final round but this time clearly didn't help me at all because I was looking to score points at the Bonus Ranker. What I needed was to score a 2nd or 3rd place-Under. Damn!

Oh well, see you folks next time!

Don't you just hate it when that happens <GE>. That happened to me a couple of times in the latter rounds of this contest. I truly feel your pain!

Penguincw: Thanks to <chessmoron>, <OhioChessFan>, and <WinKing> for making this contest possible!

Congrats to the gold medalists, including our newest HOFer, <Diademas>.

Once again, thanks to the 1st Ranker and the way this contest runs, many of us were able to win at least a bronze, including me, so yay.

See you at the WCC!

The main reason I post our picks in my forum is because I know a lot of members here still work for a living & are not retired like myself. Most people nowadays have a 'smart phone' so they can follow the action when not at home. At least they have something to follow when they are working or doing whatever. Thanks for the 'thumbs up' guys.

Aug-28-18  WinKing: <Penguincw:I enjoy reading your colour commentary, <OhioChessFan>.>

Is that what that was? ;) <OCF> has definitely helped <chessgames> draw a bigger crowd with his 'recaps'. He may be onto something here.

I like to call it that, but yeah, they're recaps. (colour commentary is what you call the guy broadcasting, that is not the play-by-play guy in sports)

offramp: Many thanks to <OCF> <chessmoron> <WinKing> for another great fun contest.

Well done to all the winners. I think this was a tough tournament.

Aug-30-18  DerDiemer: Anyone know where can i check my total medal count in all 3 prediction contests, still don't have a Gold. Is there somewhere a list for the ones who haven't gold ? Thanx in advance
Sep-05-18  Big Pawn: <ohio>, debate rules have been posted in my forum in the bio section. Your input is welcome.

Tabanus: <Ohio> Let's just agree to disagree. I thought my example of the 3000 BC family was logical indeed. Evolutionarily logical. Know this: my wife is a true Christian, she believes in God, and I'm happy for her. She's a kind of protestant, not a Catholic. She doesn't condemn me. She's wrong, but what can I do :)

There are now 46% non believers in Norway, and the number increases every year. Let's see if it leads to moral decay.

OhioChessFan: Your example of the 3000 BC family was self serving fictional claptrap.

How would you determine if Norway was heading to moral decay? Some kind of vote?

Sep-07-18  Big Pawn: <ohio: How would you determine if Norway was heading to moral decay? >

He would just make it up.

Invent it.

He would declare his assertions, and then judge according to those arbitrary assertions. Then he would express his imagination.

There is no alternative.
