<Format>:

[player]-[player] [result] [# of MOVES]

==4 Different Scoring Methods==

Standard Moves Ranker (1st place-Over[3pts], 1st place-Under [7pts], Exact [10pts])

Bonus Ranker (3rd place-Over[1pts],2nd place-Over[2pts],3rd place-Under [5pts], 2nd place-Under [6pts]

Standard Moves/Bonus Ranker [Add all to together]

1st place Ranker [how many 1st place you have in Standard Moves Ranker]

For example:

<Note: Participants 3, 4, and 5 are predicated on nobody scoring an exact as Participant 2 did. If someone hits an exact, the closest score under and over will score the points for second place.>

Actual Game: [player]-[player] 0-1 45

Participant 1: [player]-[player] 1/2 45
Participant 2: [player]-[player] 0-1 45
Participant 3: [player]-[player] 0-1 44
Participant 4: [player]-[player] 0-1 43
Participant 5: [player]-[player] 0-1 46

Participant 1: No points even though 45 is correct. Results must be correct. If Result is wrong and moves # is correct...you get no points whatsoever

Participant 2: 10 pts rewarded for correct Result/moves #

Participant 3: 7 pts rewarded for closest under (1st-Under) to 45 moves

Participant 4: 6 pts rewarded for the 2nd closest under (2nd-Under) to 45 moves.

Participant 5: 3 pts rewarded closest OVER(1st-OVER) to 45 moves.

Again, the description of Participant 3, 4, and 5 are based on there being no exact prediction as made by Participant 2.

<IF> there is an exact or an under closest, the highest scoring over participant will be 2nd over. The second closest over will be 3rd over. The <ONLY> time there will be a first over is if there is no exact or under winner.

  OhioChessFan: ** Round 4 Recap **

The contest is in complete chaos. The <amw> debacle continues to generate fierce controversy. <Winky> told <cm> that <cm> needed to change the rules. <cm> glared at him. Then, after promising to give <amw> the like 50 points he doesn't deserve, <chessmoron> said, "Hey, I had my fingers crossed behind my back, so it doesn't count." <Count Wedgemore> stupidly decided to challenge that decision, and began banging his shoe on the table. <cm> walked up, and <Count> STOOD on the table so that he was now looking eye to belly button with <cm> and insisted that in the name of all good Norwegians,<cm> give <amw> the points he doesn't deserve. Which wasn't a good move, as <cm> is 7' 6", and doesn't like Carlsen to boot. While <cm> was dealing with the <amw> debacle, <Winky> slid <Pengo> 5 points he didn't deserve. <OCF> is only glad <Karposian> wasn't here to see <THAT>.

In other news, <offramp> got to the playing arena early and began heckling Caruana and Carlsen. <offramp> sat in the crowd with a box of doughnuts, and told them that it was harder for him to sit and eat doughnuts than it was for them to sit. While all the other fans were amused by <offramp's> antics, he got so caught up in that he forgot to enter his predictions! <Winky> took <offramp's> last doughnut, waited until 30 seconds after the game started, and very innocently said, "Oh, hey <offramp>, you didn't turn your picks in." <OCF> and <cm> confiscated the contraband $50 that <word> won from <bubuli> and are holding it in escrow. Perhaps <word> will finally figure out that it would be a good idea to cough, cough, show some appreciation to <OCF> and <cm>.

As for our contest, there has been a little shaking out of positions, as <WinKing> leads one Ranker alone, <juan31> leads two Rankers alone, and like 10 people are tied for the lead in #1 Ranker. <GE> continues to struggle to regain his Quadruple Crown form, and the crowd is starting to murmur about the possibility of him winning a Quadruple Crown.

We're almost halfway done already, and the contest is wide open. Will someone finally be ready to break out of the pack? Which players will <offramp> heckle today? Will the <amw> Controversy ever be settled? Will <wordfunph> finally realize that he should show his apprecation, cough, cough, to <OCF> and <cm>? Stay tuned for the answers to these and many other pertinent questions. 5 rounds to go in our thrilling contest.

Round 6

Vallejo Pons - Caruana 0-1 45
Naiditsch - Anand 0-1 40

Aronian - Keymer 1-0 40
Svidler - Vachier-Lagrave 1/2 35

**********

Apr-24-19  bubuli55: Keymer’s day today.
Apr-24-19  alfamikewhiskey: Thank you for all the warmth (whether be it out of noble, boreal patriotism or virtuous, all-embracing compassion) – your unstinting concern! – bestowed upon me in connection with "The Ambiguous Prophecy Affair" or, a tad more prosaic, my typo ("Typogate"). Much obliged. Really.

Yet. Yet! It has been stated, at this contest's managerial level, that the predictions are to be presented in <FORMAT: <[player]-[player] [result] [# of MOVES]>>.

I admit - we should all admit - that <[result, *alternative 1*] [and then also type] [result, *alternative 2*]> is, alas!, nowhere to be seen. 1-0. Or 1-2. Or 0-1. That's it! (Barring 1/2-1/2 Pengu-style, of course, THEN duplicity is quite "in the swim").

Dura lex, sed lex. That is Proto-Italic for "The law of the Moves Prediction Contest is (as opposed to that of the The Game Prediction Contest) harsh, but it is the law."

  OhioChessFan: ** Round 5 Recap **

Pandemonium reigns in our contest. Apparently nobody knows what is going on. The $50 bet <wordfunph> won that is being held in escrow has apparently been paid off without <OCF> being shown any appreciation. <chessmoron> played innocent, as innocent as someone who is 7' 6" can, and tried to implicate <WinKing> in the coverup. <OCF> was outraged, but couldn't figure out what was going on in order to report it to the proper authorities.

Meanwhile, in a soap opera lasting longer than The Days of Our Lives, <chessmoron> once again agreed to credit <amw> for points that he doesn't deserve, but again didn't credit <amw> for points he doesn't deserve. Everyone is now a bit afraid to mention to <cm> that he didn't credit <amw> for the points he doesn't deserve because it's generally a good idea not to upset someone who is 7' 6" by pointing out they didn't credit points to someone who doesn't deserve them. And really, deep down, our competitors are just as happy not to help someone else beat them, especially if they were to beat them by being credited points they didn't deserve. <OCF> has taken to prayer and fasting and sackcloth and ashes in the hope that the points not yet credited to <amw> that he doesn't deserve won't impact any of the medal standings, as it would be a real tragedy if those were impacted by someone being credited for points they don't deserve.

Meanwhile, <amw> spoke out publicly on the matter, in a speech intended to clarify his position. The entire crowd listened with a blank look on their face, nobody understanding what in the world <amw> was talking about. Worse, nobody wanted to admit they didn't understand what in the world <amw> was talking about, so everyone was pretending that they did understand what <amw> was talking about. Poor <chessmoron> was so confused he gave up in exasperation and began considering something less complicated to do with his time, like blindfold Rubik's cube solving. <Penguincw> started walking to the microphone to explain in a few thousand well chosen words what in the world <amw> was talking about, but fortunately, <offramp> intercepted <Pengo> before he could go try to explain what in the world <amw> was talking about. <OCF> is trying to contact <Switch>, who is probably the only person on the face of the earth who could figure out what in the world <amw> was talking about.

Meanwhile, in an act of abject pity, <WinKing> pointed out that <GE> had <finally> scored a #1 pick this contest. <OCF> is much too much of a gentleman to mock people for poor performances, so he won't point out how embarrassing it's surely been for a reigning Quadruple Crown Winner to have such a pathetic tournament the next time out.

As for our contest, things are shaking out a little. All 4 Rankers finally have a single leader. <WinKing> is proving the answer to everything is not "42", but in fact "41", and leads 2 Rankers. <Count Wedgemore> leads 1 and <juan> leads 1.

Where did the contraband $50 go? What in the world was <amw> talking about? How long can <offramp> stronghold <Pengo> from talking? Is <cm> on the verge of a meltdown due to the mounting pressure? Our contestants need a day to sort these things out. Everyone will rest, relax, and probably wonder a little what in the world <amw> was talking about. We'll be back Friday, as our competitors continue their quest for cyber fame and fortune. 4 rounds to go in our thrilling contest.
