<Format>:

[player]-[player] [result] [# of MOVES]

==4 Different Scoring Methods==

Standard Moves Ranker (1st place-Over[3pts], 1st place-Under [7pts], Exact [10pts])

Bonus Ranker (3rd place-Over[1pts],2nd place-Over[2pts],3rd place-Under [5pts], 2nd place-Under [6pts]

Standard Moves/Bonus Ranker [Add all to together]

1st place Ranker [how many 1st place you have in Standard Moves Ranker]

For example:

<Note: Participants 3, 4, and 5 are predicated on nobody scoring an exact as Participant 2 did. If someone hits an exact, the closest score under and over will score the points for second place.>

Actual Game: [player]-[player] 0-1 45

Participant 1: [player]-[player] 1/2 45
Participant 2: [player]-[player] 0-1 45
Participant 3: [player]-[player] 0-1 44
Participant 4: [player]-[player] 0-1 43
Participant 5: [player]-[player] 0-1 46

Participant 1: No points even though 45 is correct. Results must be correct. If Result is wrong and moves # is correct...you get no points whatsoever

Participant 2: 10 pts rewarded for correct Result/moves #

Participant 3: 7 pts rewarded for closest under (1st-Under) to 45 moves

Participant 4: 6 pts rewarded for the 2nd closest under (2nd-Under) to 45 moves.

Participant 5: 3 pts rewarded closest OVER(1st-OVER) to 45 moves.

Again, the description of Participant 3, 4, and 5 are based on there being no exact prediction as made by Participant 2.

<IF> there is an exact or an under closest, the highest scoring over participant will be 2nd over. The second closest over will be 3rd over. The <ONLY> time there will be a first over is if there is no exact or under winner.

  OhioChessFan: ** Round 7 Recap **

The standings are starting to shake out a little as <Count Wedgemore> has the lead in 3 Rankers. He attributes his success to listening to KISS albums while studying his picks. <juan31> leads one Ranker, while <bubuli> is tied for the lead in one.

In other news, <chessmoron> still doesn't know that the Avengers aren't real. He seems to think their movies are documentaries. He abandoned his scoring duties to go try out for a spot on the Avengers, figuring they can use someone 7' 6" who can play chess. As he ran out of the playing hall, he glared at <Winky> and demanded, "Do my job!". Whether from being nice, or terrified, <WinKing> did a fine job scoring, and didn't even try to sneak himself extra points! Meanwhile, <Penguincw> has figured out Svidler has a plus score against Carlsen on Sundays when the date is a prime number. "Just my luck", he groaned, "This game is on an even number date, so I can't pick Svidler to win". <offramp> suggested Carlsen might skip this game and head to the "Chess Club" for a quick one. <wordfunph> continued his embarrassing fawning over Carlsen, who he always calls "The Mozart of Chess". He tried to play a musical tribute to Carlsen, but the best he could come up with was a bad version of "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star" that sounded more like "Chopsticks".

Will <Count Wegemore> wilt under the pressure? Can <juan> hold on for gold in Bonus Ranker? Can <bubuli> break away from his tie with <Count>? Which of the Avengers will be brave enough to tell <chessmoron> they're not real? Stay tuned for the answers to these and many other urgent questions. 2 rounds to go in our exciting contest.

  OhioChessFan: ** Round 8 Recap **

<chessmoron> is back after a failed tryout with The Avengers. He discovered Hulk was one of the few people on earth bigger than him, and Iron Man had downloaded a propietary copy of Alpha Zero, so <cm's> chess skills weren't helpful. On the bright side, <cm> was seen leaving the set with Black Widow, after convincing her to head to the "Chess Club" for some blitz. After his blitz session with Black Widow, <chessmoron> came back and made like 50 scoring errors. Nobody blamed him a bit.

In other news, <OCF> was hauled away by security after causing a ruckus in the playing area for yelling at Vallejo Pons after Paco blew a win that <OCF> himself could have won. Asked to comment, <OCF> whined, "That's like the 5th decisive game this tournament I've correctly predicted that one of these idiots didn't convert!" <offramp> headed to the local Ferrari dealer to take a test drive in a desperate attempt to understand today's Pun. <Penguincw> was almost accosted in the playing hall when he began laughing at Svidler for being checkmated. Fortunately, Carlsen stopped Svidler from punching him. That followed close on the heels of <juan31> complaining that Svidler couldn't beat Keymer. Our contestants would be well advised to avoid getting anywhere near Svidler tomorrow.

As for the contest, it's anyone's game. <juan31> now leads outright in 2 Rankers. <Count Wedgemore> leads outright in 1 and is tied for the lead in 1. <bubuli> is tied for the #1 Ranker. This is one of the closest contests in all 4 Rankers in a long time. Every gold medal is up for grabs.

Can our current leaders hold on for the gold medal? Will someone upset Svidler so much he beats them up? Will <chessmoron> bother to show up if Black Widow asks him to meet again? What will <OCF> whine about next? Which player's mistake will <Pengo> laugh about next? Is it humanly possible to pick a worse pun of the day than today's? Stay tuned for the answers to these and many other pressing questions. It's the last round of our contest, the tension is high, and the crowd rises......
