<Format>:

[player]-[player] [result] [# of MOVES]

==4 Different Scoring Methods==

Standard Moves Ranker (1st place-Over[3pts], 1st place-Under [7pts], Exact [10pts])

Bonus Ranker (3rd place-Over[1pts],2nd place-Over[2pts],3rd place-Under [5pts], 2nd place-Under [6pts]

Standard Moves/Bonus Ranker [Add all to together]

1st place Ranker [how many 1st place you have in Standard Moves Ranker]

For example:

<Note: Participants 3, 4, and 5 are predicated on nobody scoring an exact as Participant 2 did. If someone hits an exact, the closest score under and over will score the points for second place.>

Actual Game: [player]-[player] 0-1 45

Participant 1: [player]-[player] 1/2 45
Participant 2: [player]-[player] 0-1 45
Participant 3: [player]-[player] 0-1 44
Participant 4: [player]-[player] 0-1 43
Participant 5: [player]-[player] 0-1 46

Participant 1: No points even though 45 is correct. Results must be correct. If Result is wrong and moves # is correct...you get no points whatsoever

Participant 2: 10 pts rewarded for correct Result/moves #

Participant 3: 7 pts rewarded for closest under (1st-Under) to 45 moves

Participant 4: 6 pts rewarded for the 2nd closest under (2nd-Under) to 45 moves.

Participant 5: 3 pts rewarded closest OVER(1st-OVER) to 45 moves.

Again, the description of Participant 3, 4, and 5 are based on there being no exact prediction as made by Participant 2.

<IF> there is an exact or an under closest, the highest scoring over participant will be 2nd over. The second closest over will be 3rd over. The <ONLY> time there will be a first over is if there is no exact or under winner.

  OhioChessFan: ** Round 2 Recap **

Our contestants are on top of their game as every single contestant has already scored, including the late arrivals. The leaderboards are crammed at the top, as <Penguincw> leads in 2 Rankers, <amw> in 1, <wordfunph> in 1, and <OCF> and <Count> tied in 1.

In other news, <GE> is still wandering around the playing arena mumbling about "modality". Everyone else is sort of pretending to know what he's talking about, but the looks of pity are beginning to get embarrassing. <Schwartz> has taken to describing Ding as a "Chinese player to heal the soul".

Meanwhile, <OCF> is extremely suspicious of why his boss changed his starting time to 6:30 AM on <the very day the tournament started!> He suspects espionage, but can't yet prove anything. <Count> is showing off his PhD knowledge of American History to anyone on Rogoff who will listen. And <amw> cornered the unsuspecting <OCF> and began explaining why the Armageddon rules in this tournament greatly favor Black. "It's rather simple", <amw> said, "White should get twice the time Black does and...". Unfortunately, at that point, <OCF> fell asleep, and the rest of <amw's> very exciting explanation was lost to history.

Can someone break free of the pack in our close contest? Will anyone figure out what in the world <GE> is carrying on about modality? What exciting topic will <amw> start lecturing about after today's round? Will <OCF> be able to drink enough coffee to get to work at such an early time? What kind of poetic flattery will <Scwhartz> use to describe the other players? Will <Count> maintain his sanity while frequenting the Rogoff page? Stay tuned for the answers to these and many other pertinent questions. 7 rounds to go in our thrilling contest.

  OhioChessFan: ** Round 3 Recap **

The leaderboard is starting to shake out a little bit. <amw> leads in 2 Rankers, <Penguincw> leads in 1, and <GE> leads in 1. We have a few 0's left on #1 picks, but overall our competitors have had a pretty decent event.

In other news, <GE> finally convinced one person, <paavoh>, that his discussions of modality are a good idea. Alas, poor <paavoh> was found wandering around the playing hall in a daze after today's round, mumbling "How can there be so many decisive games? The modality doesn't fit. Where's the modality? Modality says every game should be a draw...modality...modality....." <GE> comforted him the best he could, but to little avail. After that, <GE> approached all the contestants in this contest, and said, "Hey, anyone wanna hear my ideas about modality?" All the competitors quickly ran away in abject terror, screaming as they went.

Also having a bad day was <wordfunph>, who was kicked out of the playing hall for smoking. It turned out to be a blessing in disguise, as nobody was around when he broke down in tears after So won his game. <Penguincw> started to explain to <lostemperor> his theory of reverse picks or something. "It's rather simple", <Pengo> stated, "You just make all your picks the exact opposite of what you think will happen...." Unforunately, at that moment, <lostemperor> fell asleep, and missed the rest of <Pengo's> very exciting explanation of his theory.

Will <GE> convince anyone else to examine his Modality Theory? Will <wordfunph> buy a Wesley So kewpie doll and stick it with pins in hopes of causing him to lose? Does <Pengo> realize that his Reverse Pick Theory doesn't work in this contest? Stay tuned for the answers to these and many other pressing questions.

Our contest has degnerated into a madhouse, and the competitors need a rest day. We'll take tomorrow off and come back refreshed on Saturday. Only 6 rounds to go in our exciting contest.
