<Format>:

[player]-[player] [result] [# of MOVES]

==4 Different Scoring Methods==

Standard Moves Ranker (1st place-Over[3pts], 1st place-Under [7pts], Exact [10pts])

Bonus Ranker (3rd place-Over[1pts],2nd place-Over[2pts],3rd place-Under [5pts], 2nd place-Under [6pts]

Standard Moves/Bonus Ranker [Add all to together]

1st place Ranker [how many 1st place you have in Standard Moves Ranker]

For example:

<Note: Participants 3, 4, and 5 are predicated on nobody scoring an exact as Participant 2 did. If someone hits an exact, the closest score under and over will score the points for second place.>

Actual Game: [player]-[player] 0-1 45

Participant 1: [player]-[player] 1/2 45
Participant 2: [player]-[player] 0-1 45
Participant 3: [player]-[player] 0-1 44
Participant 4: [player]-[player] 0-1 43
Participant 5: [player]-[player] 0-1 46

Participant 1: No points even though 45 is correct. Results must be correct. If Result is wrong and moves # is correct...you get no points whatsoever

Participant 2: 10 pts rewarded for correct Result/moves #

Participant 3: 7 pts rewarded for closest under (1st-Under) to 45 moves

Participant 4: 6 pts rewarded for the 2nd closest under (2nd-Under) to 45 moves.

Participant 5: 3 pts rewarded closest OVER(1st-OVER) to 45 moves.

Again, the description of Participant 3, 4, and 5 are based on there being no exact prediction as made by Participant 2.

<IF> there is an exact or an under closest, the highest scoring over participant will be 2nd over. The second closest over will be 3rd over. The <ONLY> time there will be a first over is if there is no exact or under winner.

One move, one crummy move, cost me 8 points...groan. That's always the most annoying result in this contest.

OhioChessFan: ***Standings Recap to the World Moves Prediction Contest!***

The WCC quickly turned from a boring drawfest to a boring patzerfest as Nepo is playing the kind of silly moves <OhioChessFan> tries against Little Chess Partner. 9...h5, seriously? Fortunately, the chess world has this contest to hold their interest.

<Penguincw> continues to lead 2 Rankers, and coincidentally, the world supply of earplugs dropped dramatically. He began to speak on a podcast about his success, but fortunately, <chessmoron> glared at him, and <Pengo> wisely stopped. <paavoh> continues to have the last laugh at everyone who tried to get him to change his picks, as he is in a gold and silver medal position.

In other news, two of the contestants put on Oscar worthy performances bemoaning their fate in this contest. <chessmoron>faux innocently claimed he'd been misled about the pairings for the second half of the contest, and asked to redo his picks for not only the second half, but the whole contest. <OCF> was outraged, but when he went to complain to <chessmoron> and looked up at his 7' 6" frame, he wisely told <cm> anything he wanted to do would be fine. Proving fools rush in where angels fear to tread, <WinKing> challenged <chessmoron>, although he was smart enough to hedge his bets at the end of his protest by saying, it maybe, possibly, sorta, could be a problem. Smart man. <Winky> also proved his street smarts by thanking <cm> for messing up!

The other Oscar worthy performance was by <OCF> who threw himself on the playing arena floor screaming at MC and Nepo for playing 41 instead of 42 moves in the 7th game. Security quickly hauled him away, as the crowd jeered at him, "Elvis has left the building!"

In other news, <diceman> mocked <jfq> for her new predictions partner, The Monkey. But <jfq> had the last laugh, as she performed better with the monkey than she had without it. <cm> also cheered the <jfq> and <Monkey> partnership, as his new wife was becoming annoyed by <jfq's> incessant phone calls and email.

Everyone is on at least one scoreboard, although we hope everyone can score on all three. We are more than halfway home, and the crowd is excited, the contestants are nervous, and The Monkey is scratching himself. Stay tuned for the exciting finale of the Grandest Spectacle in Chess, the World Moves Prediction Contest Championship!.

<Wilson> Amazing! I had no idea my "animal strategy" of copying the Monkey Ranker would also end up with me garnering <2 magic goose eggs> as a bonus result.

So if I have my maths correctly, I scored log/42 which would translate to batting .996 in baseball terms. In other words, I out-hit <Ted Williams>!!

  OhioChessFan: ** Final Recap **

While the WCC itself was a dreary, one-sided affair, the World Moves Prediction Contest Championship was a rousing success. The roaring crowd urged the contestants to continue, even after the Championship match concluded. <chessmoron> finally stepped in and glared at the crowd, whereupon they all smartly shut up.

As for the contest, <Penguincw> held on to his early lead and won 2 gold medals. In his acceptance speech, <Pengo> modestly thanked everyone in the world of chess for their part in his continued success, blah blah blah. He perhaps unwisely tried to pressure <chessmoron> into running a contestant soon after this one, blah blah blah. For a change, his acceptance speech was a bit interesting. When he began to accuse Nepo of having the "Biggest meltdown in the history of WC chess", Nepo's fans charged the podium and <Pengo> had to quickly waddle away from the furious fans. Not to be outdone, <dice> infuriated those fans when he accused Nepo of playing a coffeehouse opening when Nepo tried a Petroff. The furious fans were so tired from chasing <Pengo> they just sat down and cried in despair, and <dice> was able to walk away.

The other gold medal was won by <Golden Executive>, who made his predictions, his first appearance on this site in like 5 years, and then disappeared again. <chessmoron> will email the gold medal to <GE>.

In other news, <jfq> resumed her flirtations with <cm> as her partnership with The Monkey ended in utter failure. <cm> made a vague comment about a goose that lays golden medals or something. Nobody really understand what he meant, but were afraid to ask for clarification. <jfq> then began inquiries to see if she could unfreeze Ted Williams and begin a flirtation with him.

Not to be outdone by <Pengo's> insult of Nepo, <offramp> accused both Naka and Giri of being total patzers who ride the short bus. <offramp> narrowly escaped harm by escaping in his gyrocopter. <paavoh> was removed from the playing arena when he began reenacting the discus throws of his Olympic heroes. <Winky> tried to create an alternate set of picks, but <cm> wasn't to be fooled and ignored him. <Schwartz> made the oddest prediction when he suggested <neither player> would win, and that would mean no champion.

The world of chess can take a deep breath now and get back to focusing on the players, and not this contest. Thanks to <chessmoron> and <Winky> for their work. Congratulations to the winners, and thanks for all who participated.

OhioChessFan: I hope <chessmoron> isn't too upset with me for not understanding the medal awards. I mistakenly tried to give <Golden Executive> a <gold medal>. Easy mistake to make, I suppose, but I really don't want someone 7' 6" mad at me.

<OhioGoldPlayersFan>

It was an honest mistake, similar to my animal mistake. I thought monkey+goose = best animal, but I forgot that penguin could take both of them in a fight- at the same time.

Understandably, you knew that the "metal awards" are made out of metal, as is the "Golden Executive" automobile.

So it was natural to put the two together.
