 | | OhioChessFan: ** Round 8 Recap **
<Pengo> and <whiteshark> still lead 2 Rankers each, although nobody really knows if that's right because nobody really knows what is going on with the ex post facto 10 point bonuses. <Pengo> started to walk up to the playing arena microphone again to explain things, but <chessmoron> glared at him and <Pengo> smartly walked away. <Pengo's> attempt to steal points from everyone else in the contest was successful, which didn't endear him to most of the contestants, although <OCF> grudgingly admires his Win At Any Costs mentality. One round left as our fearless competitors continue their quest for Gold. Will anyone be stupid enough to challenge <chessmoron's> 10 Points Randomly Given to Somebody or Another rule? Will <Pengo> be stupid enough to try to explain it again? Tension is high, nerves are shredded, and the crowd rises... |

 | | offramp: Well done to the winners. It wasn't a fantastic tournament, and Carlsen had a Gehirnexplosion which almost ruined the whole event. I wish the winners the best. |
|
| Sep-12-22 | | paavoh: Congrats to all winners, thank you for all participants! Thanks <chessmoron> and <OCF> for hosting and reporting! I lost some interest in this tournament, so I did not predict on every round - surprisingly, it worked well for me. See you next time! |

Sep-12-22
 | | Penguincw: Some scoring and medaling corrections:
Bonus and Total Ranker seem correct to me.
For Moves Ranker, assuming the bonus points are simply added on, should've <Penguincw> have 31 points + 20.333 bonus points for 51.333 points and the solo silver medal? (this affects <paavoh> and <chessmoron>) Also, for First Ranker, <Penguincw> got 4 regular points, but since I assume you also added the amount of bonuses received (4), that should mean 8 points and a silver medal. (this also means the bronze <chessmoron> lost in Moves Ranker is regained in First Ranker) <whiteshark> is missing his silver in Total Ranker, and it should be gold in First Ranker. ---
I guess I will put on the record a minor scoring correction that doesn't affect any medaling, just for completion purposes: - <OCF> got MVL-Firouzja drawn in 30, good for 6 points in bonus. |

 | | Penguincw: Regardless of what the results are, thank you so much <chessmoron> for making this contest possible and doing the scorekeeping. Trust me, this was not easy to keep track of (I know, cause I was proofreading, duh). Also thank you to <OhioChessFan> for making his forum an open place to do this contest, and <WinKing> for some scoring corrections. Congrats to all the medalists of course. Hope to see you next time, which seems to be Tata Steel in the New Year. I'm glad with all the chaos in the world, Tata Steel is always a constant. |
|
| Sep-12-22 | | whiteshark: Warmest thanks to <chessmoron> and <OhioChessFan> for sponsoring this really history making tournament. All due congratulations to the deservedly lucky medal winners, best wishes to <everyone else> next time. |

 | | OhioChessFan: ** Final Recap **
The only event in the chess world more controversial than Carlsen's withdrawal is the scoring in this contest. Most people are content to just let whatever the 7' 6" <chessmoron> says is right, be right. But the intrepid <Pengo> is continuing to insist on finding scoring errors, maybe, he admittedly doesn't understand the scoring, but he's bound and determined to fix things he knows nothing about, and so we're having our own Chessgames.com January 6th meltdown. <OCF> made the mistake of admitting he's beyond caring, and so <Pengo> supposedly found like a 100 extra points for <OCF> but <Pengo> figures <OCF> doesn't care anyway. Or something. Anyway, <whiteshark> and <Pengo> clearly won 2 Golds each. After that, it's anybody's guess. The Carlsen-Niemann controversy will probably be resolved before this contest. Anyway, that's the contest and if anyone has a problem, they can take it up with <chessmoron>. Have I mentioned he's 7' 6"? Thanks for playing! |
