 | | WannaBe: Wrestling? Wrestling? http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/olymp... Guess it's just not as popular as team synchronized diving or swimming... |
Feb-12-13
 | | Phony Benoni: Olympic Wrestling isn't good television. Rollerblading is. Case closed. |
| Feb-12-13 | | Jim Bartle: That won't fly. Wrestling is not going to be eliminated from the Olympics. If they want to streamline the Olympics, why not get rid of tennis, for example, which already has enough exposure, or baseball. |
Feb-12-13
 | | WannaBe: <Jim Bartle> Baseball & Softball are already gone, they are petitioning to re-instate those 2 sports. |
Feb-12-13
 | | Phony Benoni: Apparently the choice came down to wrestling or modern pentathlon, and the latter group had a better lobby. It is a ridiculous decision, but appears to be official. Once again, politics wins over common sense. |
| Feb-12-13 | | Jim Bartle: Women's softball is gone? Not right, but it could be because there's so little competition. The US wins easily. I think the wrestling community will fight to get back in. |

 | | WannaBe: Softball record: US 3 gold, 1 silver. Japan 1 gold, 1 Silver, 1 bronze. Australis 1 silver, 3 bronze. China 1 silver. Someone else can dig up the baseball record.
Compare that to Basketball... |

| Feb-12-13 | | Travis Bickle: They should make Monopoly an Olympic sport because I'm The King of Marvins Gardens! ; P |

Feb-12-13
 | | Phony Benoni: Sorry, Travis. No game can be an Olympic sport if a cat is involved. |
| Feb-12-13 | | Travis Bickle: Phony I bet your a Board Walk & Park Place man. ; P |
Feb-12-13
 | | Phony Benoni: Travis, I'm a lousy Monopoly player. Used to play all the time with my younger brother, who invariably clobbered me. One memorable game lasted all of fifteen minutes. My brother always was the Board Games Genius. Whenever we got a new game, I would invariably beat him the first couple of times--then lose every game afterward because he had figured out the strategy of the game. I could beat him at chess only because I read so many books on the game. If he had put the time into it that I did, I wouldn't have stood a chance. Just to show you...
I began playing correspondence chess in the mid-1960s with USCF, and built up a satisfying rating before quitting them to play with other organizations. A few years later, I noticed a person with my brother's name listed in the postal ratings. Next chance I had, I asked him about it. Yes, he was playing postal chess. No, he wasn't that interested. He just wanted to get a higher rating than mine. Within a couple of years he achieved his goal, quit, and never played again as far as I know. In a way, I'm happy about that. |

 | | WannaBe: So, you are Sherlock, and he is Mycroft?! Is this brother younger? |
Feb-13-13
 | | WannaBe: This Chi-Bos game gotta be the greatest offensive struggle that I've seen in an NBA game. |
Feb-13-13
 | | Phony Benoni: Yeah, that's what I call a struggle. |
| Feb-13-13 | | Jim Bartle: Right, 67-62 as the first half is about over. |
Feb-13-13
 | | chancho: Celtics win it 71-69. |
Feb-13-13
 | | WannaBe: The game went double-OT ?!?! |
| Feb-13-13 | | Jim Bartle: I do love Tom Heinsohn as an announcer. He's such a cheerleader for the Celts, and so biased. But he's sincere, and fun to listen to. He was fun to watch as a player, too. An outright gunner, as Auerbach wanted, obviously not in great shape toward the end of his career, but an excellent player anyway. |

 | | WannaBe: http://news.yahoo.com/oops-universi... Must be the same proof reader that did the NFL espn article... |
| Feb-14-13 | | Travis Bickle: Chicago Bulls Derrick Rose maybe close to coming back! |
Feb-14-13
 | | Phony Benoni: Hey, I'll be glad to take one of the bags, especially if all the others get destroyed. |
| Feb-14-13 | | Jim Bartle: As someone who has edited lots of books and magazines, I feel for the people who produced those bags. You need someone who will check every tiny detail, including seemingly the silliest ones. What happens is that everyone thinks that someone else had checked and nobody notices the blatant error. It happens often. |
Feb-14-13
 | | OhioChessFan: They were definitely maroon bags. |
