 | | Phony Benoni: Cue the trombone player:

On second thought, don't bother. The band had already stormed the field, played half-a-dozen encores, and gone home. |

 | | Penguincw: Mets lose by 2 runs in G4 of the 2015 WS.
Mets lost by 2 runs in G5 of the 1986 WS. |
|
| Nov-01-15 | | Jim Bartle: Sports reporting can be so dumb, just reflexive without thinking. I heard that Texas Tech lost because of its offense turned the ball over three times. Might be true a lt of the time. Score was Oklahoma State 70 Texas Tech 53. I would say the offense was OK. Might look at the defense as the reason for the loss. |

 | | WannaBe: <JB> You know, I think I read it first on Tuesday Morning Quarterback where Easterbrook called it "Video Offence". Take today's Colorado/Ucla game as an example:
QBs threw 58 times, total number of rush attempt was 56. 114 plays, and it's all Colorado. Ucla threw the ball 33 times, and rushed 26.
Colorado had the ball 41:05 minutes out of the 60. Knute is rolling over in his grave. O/U at sportsbooks are now in the 90+ range for some Big-12 games. Especially TTU or Baylor. Or if Kansas gives up 60 pts. |

Nov-01-15
 | | WannaBe: NYM -137, O/U 7
What to watch tonight, GB/DEN or World Series. Decisions, decisions... |
|
Nov-01-15
 | | Phony Benoni: So last week the Lions lost 28-19 as their quarterback was sacked a zillion times by the Vikings. So they fired the offensive coordinator and two offensive line coaches, then off to London to play Kansas City. Big change. Quarterback gets sacked an umpty-zillion times as Lions lose 45-10. The upcoming bye week may take on a new meaning. |
|
Nov-01-15
 | | Phony Benoni: <WannaBe> Tough choice. You can watch the World Series, pretend the Mets are the Yankees, and root for Kansas City. Or you can root for Denver to annihilate Green Bay so badly that the Packers decide to drop out of the league from embarrassment. That help the Lions enormously, since they are scheduled play Green Bay the week after the bye -- in Wisconsin, where they haven't won since the Bush Administration. And I'm taking Bush-41 here, not the new guy. |
|
| Nov-01-15 | | Jim Bartle: More reflexive sportswriting:
The Mets won game three, so whatever they did must have been good. I read a story that said that Syndergaard set a tone that helped the Mets win by throwing at Escobar's head on the first pitch. Right. Except the Royals got six hits off him in the first two innings. He got better later, but it's hard to see how the brushback helped him or "set a tone." I'll tell you what sets a tone. Stupid baserunning and idiotic errors. |

|
| Nov-01-15 | | Jim Bartle: Damn, the power went out while watching the Jets-Raiders game. OK, back on, but...there showing a children's movie! |

|
Nov-01-15
 | | WannaBe: All those cheapo Raiders tix are headed north of $100, while Forth & Niner tix are at $50 and going south. Good year to see Levi Stadium!!! |

Nov-01-15
 | | WannaBe: Latest line, NYM -148, no change on Over/Under. |

Nov-01-15
 | | WannaBe: Who is that old guy singing!? Thought he left his heart at San Francisco?! |

Nov-01-15
 | | Phony Benoni: Reporter reminds us that the Cowboys are still winless in the "Tony Romo Injury Era". They don't make eras like they used to. |
|
| Nov-01-15 | | Jim Bartle: Fourth inning, Harvey looks tremendous.
ESPN radio broadcast has Tampa pitcher Chris Archer for a couple of innings every game. He gives really sharp analysis of the pitchers and hitters. |

Nov-01-15

Nov-01-15
 | | WannaBe: These are freakin' great games, 1-0 baseball, 17-7 football... Do I have to go to work on Monday?! =)) |
|
| Nov-01-15 | | Jim Bartle: That's an error on Hosmer? Give me a break. I think it will be changed. |
|
Nov-01-15
 | | WannaBe: Harvey's going to pitch the 9th for CG and shutout! Howwwwwwww 'bout that?!!? Where is the pitch count limit? Is Scott Boras calling Mets front office demanding his client be pulled?? Or is Scott Boras sipping a cocktail counting his cut of the play-off bonus? |
|
Nov-01-15
 | | WannaBe: Oh, goodie, here comes Familia, will he be the "goat" of another blown save? |
|
Nov-01-15
 | | WannaBe: We are tied... Boras is on the phone with Players Association to sue the NYM for over-using Harvey since post-season play. |
