 | | Penguincw: MIN will be playing tonight's WC game without 3B Sano. Remember last year SF went into NYC without their 3B, Nunez. Some guy named Conor Gillaspie started instead (no pressure Escobar). ---
I also see CLE has announced their rotation for the ALDS: Bauer, Kluber, Carrasco, Tomlin and Kluber. Personally, I would've started the Cy Young Candidate, Kluber in G1, so if CLE goes down 2-1, they can bring Kluber back on short rest (like they did three times last year). And since G4 would be before a Rest Day, they can stretch their bullpen if needed. Or maybe they're just trying to use Bauer as soon as possible before some, accident happens to him... |

 | | WannaBe: It will give T. Bauer time to find his lost drone... =)) http://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/... |

 | | WannaBe: Let's go Twins, let's go Twins!!! Severino may not survive first inning... |
|
Oct-03-17 | | Boomie: The Twins are up a field goal and are driving for more. Wait...What sport is this?
The Twins are the miracle small market team. You had to figure that a team led by Paul Molitar would learn to hit. |

 | | WannaBe: Severino got pulled!!! |
|
Oct-03-17
 | | Penguincw: NYY already matching the amount of runs they allowed in their last WC game. I normally don't watch the very beginning of the game, but I told myself today, why not? Well, no regrets. Severino apparently had <tied> for the shortest postseason start in NYY history. I wonder who else went just a third of the inning? |
|
Oct-03-17
 | | WannaBe: Santana may not last the first either... |
|
Oct-03-17
 | | WannaBe: Severino got a no decision, already. Gotta be the fastest ND ever. First inning is not even over, yet. |
|
Oct-03-17
 | | Penguincw: 6 runs, all in the 1st inning, this game has already taken almost an hour.
I'm sure if this were played in MIN, with the same results, Santana would have been pulled, while Severino would've been left in the game. Although this is a winner take all game. Unless they play 40 innings, is it really much of an advantage/disadvantage as to how long your starter goes? I believe Severino and Santana came to the majors from the same scout. I hope that guy doesn't bring in any more pitchers. ;) All 6 runs scored via. the long ball. Well, I guess the ball is juiced after all. |

Maybe the stadium is juiced. One of the homers was 335 feet. |

 | | Penguincw: When reading up on the wild-card rosters, I always see this statement: < "The [team], in addition to carrying starter [SP of that game], are also carrying starter(s) [other guys in their rotation] in case of extra innings or something goes wrong with [SP of that game." > I always wondered when a starter would actually have to make it into the game, if the scheduled starter struggled. Well, it happened last night, when Berrios came in for Santana. |

 | | saffuna: Colon was not on the Minnesota roster last night. Now we'll never know if he would have been on the ALDS roster. Judge's home run was hit at 18 degrees. Most of Stanton's seemed to be 15 to 17 degrees, line drives, while almost all others were 25-30 degrees. Unbelievable power. Funny that Judge's homer, plus many of Stanton's, might not have been homers in Fenway Park. |

Oct-04-17
 | | Penguincw: For the first time in 29 IP, the home team has scored in the NL WCG. A lot of scoring in 3's in these WCG... |
|
Oct-04-17
 | | Penguincw: So far in the 2 WCG, 3 starters, combined for 3.2 IP. :| This will force the bullpens (for both games) to throw at least 21.1 IP, in 2 games. |
|
Oct-04-17
 | | Penguincw: 5 pitching changes, yet ARI finally uses their first PH (no double switch either). Meaning their pitchers have had 4 plate appearances in this game. Of course, ARI's pitchers can rake... |
|
Oct-05-17
 | | Penguincw: What a game. Despite all that scoring, Goldy's HR in the 1st is still the game winning run. It was a close game throughout, but it's amazing: 12 WC games, only 2 saves so far, and all but 1 have been decided by 3 or more runs. Also first time both home teams won the WCG. A lot different than the shutouts from the last 3 NL WCG. |
|
Oct-05-17
 | | WannaBe: ARZ 'burned' Z. Greinke for 3 2/3 innings in a must-win game... LAD will have Kershaw, R. Hill, and Yu for games 1, 2, and 3. Could Zach be back in time for game 3 Monday? |
|
Oct-05-17
 | | Penguincw: I haven't seen a team start their WCG starter in the first 2 games of the LDS yet. You're not going to bring a guy back to start on 2 days rest. Unless that starter went short in the WCG (Greinke, yes), the team has a weak rotation (ARI, no), and there's a rain delay that pushes G2 up a day (unlikely here), then you can start that guy for G2 and G5, both on 3 days rest. |

 | | WannaBe: Time for some MLB Post-season trivia, call this the 'Final Out Edition, Mostly...': 1. Name the year and the player that made the last out in the World Series game by caught stealing. 2a. He made the final out in both '21 <AND> '22 World Series. 2b. He made the final out in both '07 <AND> '08 WS. 3. In '36 <AND> '37 he fielded the ground ball at first and recorded the final out. 4. Jackie Robinson struck out to end game 7 of 1956 WS, but what's unique about this out? 5. What's so unique about the way '27 WS ended?

Oct-05-17
 | | Penguincw: The only one I knew without looking it up was number one, Babe Ruth. He and Kolten Wong (STL, 2013) were the only guys to get picked off or caught stealing to end a WS game. Though before submitting this post, I thought Ruth did it in 1927 (so therefore I would've gotten no. 5 as well). 0.5/5 for me then. |
|
Oct-05-17
 | | WannaBe: <Penguincw> Ah, Wong's CS indeed ended <A> game in the World Series, but it did not <END THE> World Series. =) |
|
Oct-06-17 | | Travis Bickle: Hey Phony, what is your opinion on The Cubs Washington Series? Your pal, Travis |
|
Oct-06-17
 | | Phony Benoni: Hey, Travis, gotta go with the Cubs. They have more ex-Tigers, and I always like to root for the underdogs. |
|
Oct-06-17
 | | WannaBe: TBS must be really optimistic, (or else they don't know baseball in the post-season) the station scheduled the two NLD games 3 hours apart. No, seriously, TBS expects the first game to be over in 3 hours?!!? |
|
Oct-06-17
 | | WannaBe: D. Pomeranz pulled after 2IP 5H 4R 4ER, guess he got pummeled?? |
