Jan-14-13 | | Blunderdome: I vote for <Thanh Phan> for Best Profile. Not sure why this nomination wasn't included in the list. I assume it's a clerical error. I vote for <Ceri> and <Nickster> for Best Analysis. |
|
Jan-14-13 | | Blunderdome: In an attempt not to mess up the ballot-counting software, I'm adding (in a separate post that doesn't include the v-word) honorable mentions for frogbert and imag in the analysis category. Can only vote for two, though. |

 | | Annie K.: <Blunderdome> looks like error - it may have helped to address <cg> or <The Caissars> by name in your heads-up post yesterday. :) Here we go:
<The Caissars> there has been a nomination for <Thanh Phan> for best Profile after my last update, but still within the time bracket. Please add her name to the list. |

Yes it was a clerical error and we are deeply sorry for this mistake. In the interest of fairness, if anybody who already voted would like to retract their vote and vote for <Thanh Phan> instead you are welcome to do so at this time, just announce what you're doing and we'll fix it. |

Jan-14-13 | | Abdel Irada: My votes (after a regrettable and involuntary four-day absence caused by computer problems): •Although the choice was not easy, I vote for <Domdaniel> for "Best Profile." As the founding editor of MoralIntelligence.net, I could hardly do otherwise after reading this: <I'll say it again, though I can't recall saying it before: < Empathy is essential to any kind of intelligence worth having.>> •For "Best Analysis," I vote for <jimfromprovidence>, who regularly finds hidden ideas in the daily puzzles that most of the rest of us overlook or pass over. He has also taken the time to refute some faulty but plausible ideas of my own, rather than simply accepting my analysis as sound. (Honorable mention also goes to <Honza Cervenka> and <LoveThatJoker>, both of whom reliably post clear solutions and analysis not only to daily puzzles, but also, particularly in the case of the former, on numerous less perused game pages. If only I could cast a full vote for all three of these worthy contributors!) For those who have voted for me: my thanks, but I think it would be hubris to join you in that selection. After all, I've only been on the site since April, while all three of the members named above have been consistently improving the site for years. |

 | | HeMateMe: Is there a list of nominees for best game collection and most informed? |
|
Jan-15-13 | | morfishine: I vote <Phony Benoni> for Best Game Collection I vote <JessicaFischerQueen> as most informed |
|
Jan-15-13 | | Abdel Irada: <chessgames.com>: Please clarify something for me before I cast my ballot: Does "Most Informed" refer to chess specifically, or to general erudition? |
|
Jan-15-13
 | | SwitchingQuylthulg: <Abdel Irada> To put it in the simplest way possible: it refers to people who don't need to ask questions like that :) |
|
Jan-15-13 | | Abdel Irada: I really don't think that was called for. My question was a serious one, and I'd be surprised if I were the only user to whom it has occurred. |
|
Jan-15-13
 | | SwitchingQuylthulg: My answer was also a serious one: the "most informed" are those who know all the answers already (as <The Caissars> said at The Caissars chessforum). Any information that comes handy at Chessgames is fair game: it doesn't need to be chess-related, but all too often it is :) Being the world expert on bees in Guatemala counts for nothing. |
|
Jan-15-13 | | Abdel Irada: <Being the world expert on bees in Guatemala counts for nothing.> Easy for you to say that now, but wait until an intimate knowledge of Guatemalan beekeeping techniques is instrumental in solving one of this year's Holiday Clues. |
|
Jan-15-13
 | | SwitchingQuylthulg: But that wouldn't count for Most Informed 2012, now would it? :) |
|
Jan-15-13
 | | HeMateMe: Voting <Benzol> best game collection, <Phony Benoni> most informed. |

 | | jessicafischerqueen: I vote <SwitchingQuylthulg> for best games collection: Game Collection: Uneventful, everyday, dull draws <Uneventful, everyday, dull draws
Compiled by SwitchingQuylthulg
(Also known as "Zzzzzzz... The Sleepy Journey to the End of the Alphabet") The mere possibility of splitting a point is against the very nature of a fighting game. After all, you don't call wars off just because they kill people, do you? <<<Draws>>> are deadly arsenic in the veins of chess and must be eliminated to save the Royal Game. They are dull, boring, unexciting non-games the crowd hates for a very good reason. The "games" in this collection prove it.> |
