The Caissars: Thank you for participating in the 2019 Caissars! We apologize for the very delayed start, which probably contributed to the difficulty of selecting deserving candidates, and will do our best to run the Caissars at the beginning of January in the future. <And now here are ...

Annie K.: Thx folks, oops, I had better rephrase my vote too, in case the software doesn't understand "both categories" -

I vote for <SwitchingQuylthulg> and <Phony Benoni> for Most Informed; and

I vote for <SwitchingQuylthulg> and <Phony Benoni> for Best Game Collection.

Jan-15-13  Abdel Irada: My thanks to <The Caissars> for ignoring <magnifico>, which enables me to clear my own ignore list.
Jan-15-13  Abdel Irada: <The award for Beset Profile goes to User: jessicafischerqueen.>

One only hopes she isn't too sorely beset.

jessicafischerqueen: <Abdel> well I wouldn't mind being beset by more <Bobby Fischer> links.

I should emphasize that 99.9999% of the work finding all of those links was not done by me. It was done by TheFocus, suenteus po 147, eyal, Travis Bickle, chancho, brankat, resignation trap, kingscrusher, and many others.

Mainly, for the last five years I've been sat on my arse as others hand me the links. Please continue to do so!

Sneaky: I'll vote for best collection <MorphyMatt> "Best chess moves ever played".

LoveThatJoker: I vote for <Phony Benoni> and <whiteshark> for Best Historian.

I vote for <Tenacious D (Browne vs Fischer, 1970)> and <The Tightrope Game (V Gashimov vs Grischuk, 2010)> for Best Pun.

The Caissars: Congratulations to <Phony Benoni> winning the "Best Collection" award with his ever useful Game Collection: Game of the Day Pun Index (A-C)!

Congratulations to <Softpaw> for being the Most Informed!

The Caissars: Speaking of puns, let the voting on that award begin, alongside the Best Historian category.

For your convenience I have placed links to the relevant games next to the entries in my profile above. (For some of the puns, the nature of the game itself is important to appreciate the joke.)

Phony Benoni: Thanks to all. Now, if you'll excuse me, I need to get back to work.

jessicafischerqueen: I vote <crawfb5> and <TheFocus> for best historian.

I vote <Control-Ault-Delete> for best pun.

Jan-16-13  Abdel Irada: My votes:

<Phony Benoni> for "Best Historian."

<Control-Ault-Delete> for "Best/Worst Pun." (When it comes to puns, the best is also the worst, and vice-versa.)

Jan-16-13  Blunderdome: I vote for <Phony Benoni> for Best Historian.

I vote for <Like a Hot Knife Through Baadur> for Best/Worst Pun.

HeMateMe: Voting best historian: split vote,

<All Bistro Biographers collectively>

and <Graham Clayton>, who tirelessly brings bio bits into the daily postings.

So many great puns...Best pun, split vote: <The Hanging Pieces of Baburin > and <Like a Hot Knife Through Baadur>

Check It Out: <The Caissars: Congratulations to <Softpaw> for being the Most Informed!>

Irony alert: he may not even know he won this award. <Softpaw>?

Jan-16-13  WinKing: I vote for <All Bistro Biographers collectively> - Best Historian.

I vote for <Like a Hot Knife Through Baadur> - Best (Worst) Pun

Jan-16-13  Colonel Mortimer: <Softpaw> *Most Informed*

Huge congratulations. Where many have been vociferous and presented rhetoric, you have remained calm and presented facts.

Quite a feat!

Jan-16-13  Colonel Mortimer: ..And it is ironic that <softpaw> won this award for 'best informed', not by mustering his minions, but by simply being outstanding.

His absence or abstinence from all the heady decision-making politics of the self-ingratiating 'in-crowd' just highlights it further..

Well done!

HeMateMe: I thought best informed referred to chess theory/history? Soft Paw is certainly a bright guy, I just never hear him talk about chess.
Jan-16-13  Abdel Irada: <Check It Out: <The Caissars: Congratulations to <Softpaw> for being the Most Informed!>

Irony alert: he may not even know he won this award. <Softpaw>?>

Irony upon irony.

<Softpaw>'s last post was on 7 December, encouraging *me* not to leave after a particularly vitriolic exchange on <Kenneth Rogoff> on the subject of GMO food labeling, and today it is he whom I call upon (so far in vain) to return to the site.

I find myself wondering if this is my fault.

The Caissars: Comment about today's voting: when you vote for the pun please put the pun itself in <gold text> like you would do with usernames. You don't have to mention the game it came from or who originated the pun. Thanks.
Jan-16-13  Abdel Irada: Funny how people see colors differently.

If I had to put a name to <this color>, I'd call it brown.

Jan-16-13  morfishine: I vote for <All Bistro Biographers collectively> - Best Historian.

I vote 'Control-Ault-Delete' Fischer vs R Ault, 1959 for Best (Worst) Pun

Jan-16-13

OhioChessFan: I vote for <All Bistro Biographers collectively> - Best Historian.

I vote for <Vas Right Wing Conspiracy> for Best (Worst) Pun The game itself is a visual demonstration of the pun.

Jan-16-13  Colonel Mortimer: <HeMateMe: I thought best informed referred to chess theory/history? Soft Paw is certainly a bright guy, I just never hear him talk about chess.>

If you would like to debate this, it's probably not this forum - this site is a <chess community> - two words..

Jan-16-13  Abdel Irada: Maybe <HeMateMe> should debate this question with <SwitchingQuylthulg>, at the slight risk of being promptly nominated as "Worst Informed."
