Jan-17-14  john barleycorn: <Aronian vs Anand> for Game of the Year
Jan-17-14  gauer: Voting for (13) < Magnus Carlsen > [current world champion] and (14) < Aronian vs Anand, 2013 > [for the excellent choice of an early middlegame strategic idea in a main line by the most previous world champion against the FIDE #2-ranked runner-up spot] in their categories.

Turned out to be a fairly simple choice, followed by a relatively more difficult choice, based the nomination supplies (the computer vs computer draw save for instance sure came close this time as well, and while the famed quote at Ostrich (Computer) by Monty may have brought them to stage 2, there still seems to be a bunch of work to get them to stage 3 - although that game sure provided evidence of their advances)!

I think you know full well I didn't or I wouldn't have asked, would I? Do you think I'm thick? Haha, I am so don't answer that! LOL! I'm guessing the rabbit didn't get a crony award either this year?? I feel for you man, I really do feel for you.. I thought I had "Best drug addled historian in a sticky situation on a chess website" award bagged up and ready to go, but for some crazy reason people overcooked, I mean overlooked, me!!

Well next year im gonna buy some illuminous condoms and go for the "suspiciously glowing member" award! How dare Limpy Urcan say my favourite chess website is soft?!? 😄

Btw. No. I didn't see the link or I wouldn't have asked, peace out wabbit 👌

Check It Out: For game of the year I vote: <Carlsen vs Aronian, 2013>

The two short Anand gamesreceiving votes(the WC loss to Magnus and the win against Aronian) are great but this longer game features the style of Magnus: apply subtle pressure until a crack appears, and then drive in the wedge. He could have taken the offered draw to boot and won the tournament, but chose to play on. Good stuff!

Jan-17-14  FairyPromotion: I vote for <Magnus Carlsen> for Player of the Year.

I vote for <Aronian vs Anand, 2013> for Game of the Year.

The Caissars: The envelope please… (rrrrrrrrrrip)

The winner of <Best Game of 2013> goes to Aronian vs Anand, 2013.

The winner of <Player of the Year> goes to the World Chess Champion Magnus Carlsen.

For those who like this kind of thing may I point you in the direction of the tpstar chessforum where members have just voted on the 10 best games of the year compiled in this Game Collection: Best Games of 2013.

And now this year's Caissars comes to a close. We thank you all for participating. 'Till next year!

Jan-18-14  Benzol: Congratulations to all the winners.

:)

Jan-18-14  TheFocus: Congratulations to the winners!

For the non-winners, better luck next time!

Jan-21-14  Abdel Irada: <Mark>: How long does it take to become a member of the old guard?

Or is it simply impossible for anyone who hasn't already been here <x> years?

Jan-21-14  Colonel Mortimer: If you lick the right behinds you can get into crony land instantly.
Jan-21-14  Colonel Mortimer: But that's always been a universal, here, there and everywhere..

Real friendship is something quite different and it's not found on the internet.

Jan-21-14  SugarDom: We got sour grapes from the left brigade. hehe
