TheAlchemist: Thank you, you too!

Dec-09-24 Ding Liren vs D Gukesh, 2024 (replies)

TheAlchemist: The genius of Ding's play to me was how (except Nb5) he made moves solely on his own half of the board and in 25 moves he completely outplayed Gukesh.

   Oct-28-23 D Lazavik vs Wojtaszek, 2023 (replies)

TheAlchemist: White played a seemingly clever sacrifice, but the refutation on move 25 was simply stunning

TheAlchemist: <goodevans: Will we have another Milan-based pun tomorrow when its two big football teams face each other in the Champions League Semi-Final? https://www.uefa.com/uefachampionsl... It's a huge reach, but you could call it even timelier. Unfortunately Slovaks call it ...

Apr-30-23 Nepomniachtchi vs Ding Liren, 2023 (replies)

TheAlchemist: Amazing, what a finish, what a match. Congratulations, Ding!

   Nov-08-22 D Citra vs R Vaishali, 2016 (replies)

TheAlchemist: Great pun!

   Aug-08-22 European Team Championship (2001)

TheAlchemist: I'd have to dig out contemporary magazines to be sure, but I think it said Black simply left the playing hall and never returned, leaving everyone puzzled (teammates included).

TheAlchemist: Terrible news. Rest in peace, PB.

   Oct-17-21 Keres vs A Sakovski, 1936 (replies)

TheAlchemist: I also forgot to add that both of those are masculine forms, the feminine one would be "šahistka". I was a bit too fast with the reply.

Nov-29-06  technical draw: Pretty good <nescio> I'm stealing half of them. (the other half I'll swipe)
Nov-29-06  Larsker: Your list of famous blunders is very nice. Game Collection: Anonymous Blunderers Club. I noticed you just made a new entry.

TheAlchemist: <nescio> Thank you very much!

<Larsker> Thanks! I do my best. Frankly, I wish I hadn't made that last entry :-)

Nov-30-06  chessmoron: <TheAlchemist> Stop by at the WHITE vs BLACK.
Nov-30-06  princeofdragons: Hey I'm a pharmacist too. Just graduated from USC in Los Angeles.

TheAlchemist: <princeofdragons> Great! I still have about 2 years to go. Are you already working and if so, what field are you in?
Dec-01-06  princeofdragons: I'm leaning to Pharmacotherapy but I need to take a huge exam by Board of Pharmaceutical Specialties so that I can be called "Board-certified." That's lovely.

TheAlchemist: If you've come so far, I'm sure you'll manage :-). I'll keep my fingers crossed. Here, we have a very tough exam if you want to work in a pharmacy. I will probably try to pass that, although I'm still unsure about my future profession. I'm taking it more day-by-day :-).
Dec-02-06  Open Defence: <thealchemist> you should also consider a career in stand up ? :)

TheAlchemist: <Open Defence> Stand up is unfortunately a still pretty exotic thing around here. One of our comedians said he plans to open up a bar with stand up comedy, so I'm very anxious on how it will turn out. But here it often takes years before an idea is actually put into practice.
Dec-19-06  chessmoron: <TheAlchemist> You may want to put this game into your exciting draws collection.

Ljubojevic vs Gelfand, 1990

WannaBe: The January issue of National Geographic have a wonderful article on the Ljubljanica River, and the many treasures that's been throw into it.

I never knew about this!

Dec-27-06

TheAlchemist: <WannaBe> I'm not exactly sure about what treasures you mean, the river is mostly known here because it has a total of 7 different names.
Dec-27-06  dakgootje: Long ago people roamed the countries searching for rivers to throw treasures in. When they passed the Ljubljanica River they asked for it's name, found a different one and therefore threw more treasure in it. Etc etc.

Because of that, there has been 7 times more treasuries thrown in it than normal rivers.

Hey, I don't know either, ask wannabe for an explanation! Wait... you did.

ps: You have to do something with too much spare time... =P

TheAlchemist: <dak> LOL, you're too much.
Dec-27-06  nescio: <TheAlchemist> Christmas is a good excuse for procrastinating and yesterday I have searched for quotes of Mae West. Try it sometime! She made up some gems, like for example:

"It's better to be looked over than overlooked."

"Too much of a good thing can be wonderful."

"When I'm good, I'm very good. But when I'm bad I'm better."

"It's not the men in my life that count, it's the life in my men."

"A hard man is good to find"

and many more...

Dec-27-06  syracrophy: <TheAlchemist> Hi! Merry Christmas! :-)

I found this game that could be great on your Anonymous Blunderers Club Collection: Timman vs Yusupov, 1992 because of the great 31...♕e4!!
