TheAlchemist: Thank you, you too!

Dec-09-24 Ding Liren vs D Gukesh, 2024 (replies)

TheAlchemist: The genius of Ding's play to me was how (except Nb5) he made moves solely on his own half of the board and in 25 moves he completely outplayed Gukesh.

TheAlchemist: White played a seemingly clever sacrifice, but the refutation on move 25 was simply stunning

Feb-20-07  hitman84: <Zebra>I'd like to vote for the energetic her highness Queen <Jess> to be the Vice captain.
Feb-20-07  hitman84: <Zebra><Jess> one of you guys post the move. Bye!
Feb-20-07  Zebra: <brankat, akavall> OK, Black plays 10 ...Be7. Would you be kind enough to post it on the MFO page, as I don't have the password.
Feb-20-07  brankat: <Zebra> Akavall has posted the move. since I don't have the password either.

TheAlchemist: Sorry fellow teammates, I forgot, it was irresponsible. I frankly wasn't used to the deadline being so early. I'll try and get it together now.
Feb-20-07  dakgootje: Jess as vice-cap? Great idea! ^^

TheAlchemist: Knowing myself, just in case something like this should happen again, here's the password for the MFO site (http://www.mrfixitonline.com/index....), so that everybody here can access it in case anything like this happens again, since I can't trust myself anymore...

All I can do now is promise that I'll be more committed from now on. But if anyone else wishes to take charge it's fine as well.

jessicafischerqueen: <Captain> nooo! We need you! <The Alchemist> in charge, please.

Chessy Queen

Feb-20-07  dakgootje: Yes he is in charge while you are second in command... ^^
Feb-20-07  EmperorAtahualpa: <cg.com> Hey dudes and dudette! :) I see that your (our) opponents are playing an aggressive opening with kingside pawn pushes. Keep things under control over there, alright? I'm still rooting for you! :)

jessicafischerqueen: <Captain> What do you think about getting a substitute player to join our team? <Rocafella> seems like a very nice guy but maybe he just doesn't have time or something?

I don't know what the protocol is on this kind of thing-- but it seems like <Hitman> <Zebra> <TTLump> <Marco> and <you> are doing almost all the work.

A little nervous, cuz when we go out of book I'm not going to be able to help very much-- not because I don't have time, but because I'm very weak on tactics...

Captain: Shields, Shields up!! Arm all weapons!! Fire Photon Torpedo, Fire all Phasers!! Set Phasers on KILL!! Damage Report! I want that damage report!

Scotty, give me more power to the engines!

Okay, decafs for me from now on...

Feb-20-07  chessmoron: What do you think about getting a substitute player to join our team?

Simple: User: sharpnova

J/K.

Feb-21-07  Zebra: <The Alchemist> These things happen. I think you're doing a fine job as captain.

TheAlchemist: <<Captain> What do you think about getting a substitute player to join our team? <Rocafella> seems like a very nice guy but maybe he just doesn't have time or something?>

I don't want to exclude anyone, unless they want to quit themselves. <EA> has asked some time ago if he can join whe someone quits, so I'd ask him first.

Feb-21-07  Marco65: <jessica> I'm very happy if you are our vice-captain, you're always online. I suspect you have a wireless chip under skin directly connected with your brain.

As per substitutes, I noticed not all the members are present too. But before pointing our fingers I suggest we ask everybody to say "present" within the next two days. And ask if someone prefers to quit.

And let's not forget EmperorAtauhalpa is the first in the waiting list!

Feb-21-07  dakgootje: The reason I am not all that active for the time being is mainly because I am not at all confortable with this opening; having no problems we play it, I am merely not of any use at all yet ^^
Feb-21-07  Marco65: <dakgootje> I saw that explanation already. I think you could read the posts, evaluate the ideas other people propose and vote all the same. I'm not confortable with this Scheveningen-like opening as well, but I try to understand it and ask questions when I have doubts. There is no IM among us whose words must be taken as gospel, so... don't be shy!
Feb-21-07  Marco65: <WannaBe> I propose that from now on <TheAlchemist> must start all his post with "Captain's log, star date 7082.9..."

TheAlchemist: <Captain's log, star date 7082.9>

Just checking how it looks...

Feb-21-07  dakgootje: <Marco> Even though you have of course a point, to give a reasonable candidate move one has to read and evaluate the ideas other proposed as you stated. This is a problem however. While I might be able to give a reasonable move in the middlegame, I simply do not have the time for that in the opening; this because the opening moves influence the rest of the game a lot and even the slightest mistake can prove fatal.
Feb-21-07  Rocafella: Sorry, I have been busy but I haven't felt I can contribute much as of yet. I've just read the posts and you're right, you can get a substitute I'll quit.

I'm getting the feeling you feel like we're trying to get rid of you. We're not, I'm sure what <Jess> meant was that you haven't been around much, that's all. If you want to quit, we can't stop you, but don't do it over a misunderstanding like this. So, I hope you'll reconsider.

I've also had the feeling I had nothing useful to write, so I didn't for a few days. I think we should all at least give a sign of life here and there, I'm sure there's plenty of time for all of us to come up with interesting ideas, opening aren't everybody's forte.

Again, please reconsider.

jessicafischerqueen: <rocafella> I agree with our captain and second his motion. We'd much, much rather have you stay... I was mainly worried about later when we go out of book, as I said. My contributions after that will not be strong, I fear.

Jess
