 | | WannaBe: <NakoSonorense> I am going to guess you mean the Simpson's Ralph shirt. I originally purchased it from http://www.garmentdistrict.com/stor... but I don't see that specific one there anymore. There are more than 4 pages of t-shirts avail. The UCLA tank tops can be purchased at the Ackerman's Union. (As you know :-) |

| Jun-20-06 | | Ezzy: <WannaBe:> Congratulations on your prize winning!! Seems like you've had a fantastic chess weekend. You deserve it. You are a real chess fan and contribute so much fun and humour to the website. <<WARNING>> - Don't thank me for this post, as I might change my opinion about you by tomorrow. :-) The mind is very fickle. |

| Jun-20-06 | | dakgootje: <[TimeControl "40/7200:12/3600:1800"]> Dont quite understand this part, so please enlighten me how it is meant to be read ;-) |
|
Jun-20-06
 | | WannaBe: <dakgootje> TimeControl, it's Shredder10's fault. It should read 40/7200 (number of seconds in 2 hours, 60 * 60 * 2) + 3600 (one more hour). But for some reason on the GUI it requires you to put in a number for the number of moves on the second time control. (as if it's the first time control.) By default, it's around 12 moves, I have tried to put in 0 moves, but then it doesn't have the second time control in the PGNs. So I guess, it should say 40/7200:3600. I'll blame the Shredder 10 maker (German company) for this. =) I sometimes forget to edit it in the final PGNs before posting them here. |

| Jun-20-06 | | dakgootje: okay thanks for the explanation
btw Fritz is german also, isnt it? |

| Jun-20-06 | | EmperorAtahualpa: <WannaBe> Germany and Ecuador have made it to the knock-out phase of the tournament in group A and in a few hours from now we will know which teams are going to make it in group B. Are you going to keep the scores already, or will you only do that at the very end of the first round? |
|
Jun-20-06
 | | WannaBe: <EmperorAtahualpa> I will do it once the whole Round Robin is over. |
|
| Jun-20-06 | | EmperorAtahualpa: <WannaBe> Aaaahhh you're no fun. :) |

 | | WannaBe: I mentioned that <DrDum> bought a Monroi, and his game was broadcasted. (But apparently chess bookie didn't offer any lines on his game. =) http://www.monroi.com/wdc/flashview... http://www.monroi.com/wdc/flashview... http://www.monroi.com/wdc/flashview... http://www.monroi.com/wdc/flashview... http://www.monroi.com/wdc/flashview... |

| Jun-20-06 | | midknightblue: Hello <wannabe>. Thanks for the great photo-documentary of the tourney. How did you manage to do so much. Shots of nearly every hotel. I barely had time to grab lunch between the morning and afternoon games. Congratulations on your results! I didn't realize you finished with 3 points, playing up one section, no less!
Are you feeling motivated to improve even more? That is the best thing about these tournies, I always feel energized to study harder and get better.
I just checked my uscf rating. Went up 19 points. I let 3 wins get away with poor technique :(. One pawn ending, and twice where i didnt calculate combinations too well. Instead probable wins turned into 2 draws and a loss. Oh well, I left plenty of room for improvement next time ;).
Mind if I post one of my games on your page? Maybe round 6, where I finished with a draw (that was the one where I blew the pawn ending). Any ideas about which big tourney you will attend next?
Talk to you later
MKB.
Here are my final results (U1600) in which I finished 62nd out of 132: Rnd 1 W, R2 L, R3 D, R4 L, R5 W, R6 D. |

 | | WannaBe: <midknightblue> post all you want. =) Going to get the pictures printed and mail them to ya!! It was wonderful, I said WONDERFUL to have met you, <suenteus po 147>, <southpawjinx>, <whiskeyrebel>, and all my previous opponents from American Open. Such a small, but yet wonder community of chess lovers/players. |

Jun-21-06
 | | WannaBe: <midknightblue> checked my rating, +177 pts, still under 1000, but I'm very comfortable playing in the U1400 section. Need to study up more. Need to look at the board/combination more. Especially like game 4. Where I got really lucky when my opponent blundered. Next big tourney, no ideas yet. But again, feel free to post all you want. |

| Jun-21-06 | | brankat: <WannaBe> <Loser of 1/4; loser of 1/8> Wouldn't it be less confusing to say: Winner of 1/4 & 1/8. I'm pretty sure some people will want to predict Winners, and of course it will then turn out wrong. As it is, it resembles a tricky question. Thank You. |
|
Jun-21-06
 | | WannaBe: <brankat> It's the format that was used by <lostemperor> and <Ingolf> and I liked it. And it also avoids the issue of re-typing a country's name multiple times (as in the case of selecting winner.) |
|
| Jun-21-06 | | brankat: <WannaBe> Agreed. It is now 1:50 pm, Pacific Standard T. and I have just received a parcel!! Have not opened it yet, want to cherish the moment for a while in suspense :-) |
|
Jun-21-06
 | | WannaBe: <brankat> Glad you got the early Christmas card. =) I hope you like it. |
|
| Jun-21-06 | | TrueBlue: how did you get a photo with Susan Polgar? I want one too :)! |
|
Jun-21-06
 | | WannaBe: <TrueBlue> Go to next year's National Open. She said she will be there for the next 3? 4? years. Or try to catch her at the next chess event in Oak Brook, IL. =) |
|
Jun-21-06
 | | WannaBe: <TrueBlue> Don't know where you live in the US, but the date for the Oak Brook, (15th Chicago Open) is May 25-28, you can get more info from http://www.uschess.org/tla/yState.p... and scroll down a little bit. I do believe Ms. Polgar will be there. |
|
| Jun-21-06 | | square dance: <wannabe> nice pics! |
