Mar-24-07 | | brankat: <WannaBe> The book I mentioned (recomended) by V.Vukovic, together with others, is supposed to be studied in a thorough way. No short cuts, skipping pages or chapters. There is a logic in the order of topics, themes, chapters. Not only will the careful study help You increase your knowledge of Attack, but, by the same token, of Defence against the Attack, too! So, again, take Your time, go slow from "A -- Z", and You will not regret it. |

 | | WannaBe: Some studies in the Scotch, <DrDum> played the 4...Qh4 line against me yesterday, in a skittle. We then pushed wood around for a few moves, it was pretty even for a while, and I, as usual, blundered and lost. But I wish to examine the 'main line' of 4...Qh4, because <DrDum> said instead of 6. Be2, 6. Qe2 should be played, but it's not in the Opening Explorer line at all. So, I think he is wrong on that. =) But if we take the line a little further...

 | | WannaBe: Corr. game site comparison... (Mini-Tournaments)
On GameKnot.com, free members can only participate in one Mini, until they are done with all their games, (does not necessarily mean the tournament is over, just that you finished all your games before others) And you only play up to 4 tournament games at once, so as an example, in <suenteus po 147>'s invitational, there are 11 players, so you would play 20 games, but not all 20 are being played simultaneously. On schemingmind.com, free members can join a Mini every 6 weeks, so you could play multiple tournaments at once. And the format is, every game is going on at once. I find this somewhat difficult (to handle). So, if the invitational were held on schemingmind, I would have to play 20 games, right off the get go. QueenAlice is also this way with their Mini Tournament. I also like the search for game/opponent interface (format, setup) on gameknot better than schemingmind. |

Mar-27-07 | | suenteus po 147: <WannaBe> Good game. We'll have to analyze it, because you seemed to have a solid game for much of the time. Not sure where you went wrong, though I must say that 16...Qb8 looked unnecessary to me. |

 | | WannaBe: Just saw "Happy Feet" on DVD. I give it A++, great, great music (but don't buy the CD, because the music on the CD aren't the ones in the movie, read that on www.amazon.com). Great compliment to my "March of the Penguins" movie, will have to now, buy a copy of "Happy Feet". The music that's in the movie are great, and I mean great! A lot of subtle visual/jokes throughout the movie. Kids will enjoy it, adults will appreciate the wonderful humour. |

Mar-28-07 | | brankat: So You are into Scotch now? Does it go well Budwiser? :-) |

 | | WannaBe: <brankat> funny thing you mentioned that... I've always like to use the Scotch on the white side, if 1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 Nc6 <Open Defence> and I have done some study/FEN on her forum a while back, and <swapmeet> have helped me a lot with some of the lines too. (We've crossed path on FICS) No, too much Budweiser ruins your Scotch (game =) |

Mar-28-07 | | Zebra: I have started occasionally playing the Scotch Gambit - mostly in blitz, but occasionally corr chess. The mainline Scotch Game is a bit too subtle for me. |

 | | WannaBe: <Zebra> How does the Scotch Gambit go? |
|
Mar-28-07 | | Zebra: <Wannabe> The Scotch Gambit is 1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.d4 ed 4.Bc4 (Opening Explorer). There is also the Goering Gambit, 4.c3 (Opening Explorer). (I believe not invented by THE Goering.) Sometimes white ends up playing both Bc4 and c3, which can be fun. |

Mar-28-07 | | THE pawn: Hey <WannaBe>!
Sorry for taking so much time, I thought a lot about gxf6, but it's simply dead losing (Bh6 and if I move the rook to e8 then Qc3! with two threats - one of them being mate) so I had no choice but to let that pawn go. Nicely played! |

Mar-31-07 | | hitman84: <WannaBe>That's a wonderful gesture and hope you soon get your money back but more importantly you've helped someone as you always do, the ever generous <WannaBe>! BTW, Have you heard/read about a virus called "W32.Spybot.Worm" ?
In its removal process, it states that I need to turn off "system restore" but that's been disabled in group policies and I don't have the permission to change it. The residence file name is wuauclt10.exe but I was able to find two files named wuaclt and wuauclt1, will its deletion stop the virus from replicating ? |
|
Mar-31-07
 | | WannaBe: <hitman84> It looks to be a fairly 'old' virus, http://www.symantec.com/security_re... If it's (System restore) already turned off, you should be able to proceed with the removal process. Unless you are not logged in with admin priviledges and certain things are disallowed, (i.e. install new programs, executing certain .exe files, etc...) You should enable your real time protection on your virus program, keep it up to date (virus definitions) and run a scan once in a while (week/2 weeks.) Let me know if you need more info. |
