 | | WannaBe: <brankat> Went well, very well, *knock on wood* will know more tomorrow... Background:
In U.S. most business rent the property they are located on, before the sale of the exiting business, there are usually 3 conditions, or contigents. 1. Landlord's approval
2. If Alcohol licence is involved, the alcohol board and background check. 3. Buy's examination of the business record (books) of the seller. And of course, the usual, price, terms of the sale condition (chairs, tables, oven, grill, existing stock, what's on hanging the wall, etc...) So far, during the meeting, we got the last part taken cared of, I'm to meet the landlord of the property tomorrow/today, (Wednesday)... But I'm very much praising Caissa, and knocking on wood right now. If it helps any, I'll bow East to Mecca and pray, also go to the Wailing Wall and pray, and burn as much incense as I'm legally allowed, without setting off the smoke alarm! |

| Nov-21-07 | | brankat: <WannaBe> This sounds good! Looks like You are on Your way. When You first mentioned this a couple of weeks ago in Your e-mail, apparently I misunderstood it. I thought you were talking about the company You have been working for, for last 10 years. Of course, bars are so much more exciting :-) |

 | | WannaBe: <brankat> Not your fault, I intentionally left it unclear... But I hate having 'work' meetings on Friday nights, even though I've been through a few of those... |
|
| Nov-21-07 | | brankat: <WannaBe> Maybe I'll drop by at the US Consulate General here in Vancouver to inquire about a possibility of getting a work permit (Green Card) for the USA :-) I've spent decades in bars, but have never worked in one, except a few times at hotels' front desk. Even managed one back in '85/86. (Consider this as a "mini-resume") :-) |

| Nov-22-07 | | whiskeyrebel: Wannabe, have a pleasant holiday my friend. Remember, never eat on an empty stomach...never puke in Grandma's lap...or waste alcohol. Respect thy bottle and keep it holy. |

 | | OhioChessFan: Dear <Wannabe>
I have downloaded Zappa and Arena. When I try to open my Zappa file, it asks what file to open it with. It defaults to Adobe Acrobat. When I try to open it with AA, it says it can't open because it's not a supported file type or because the file is corrupted. I am not sure everything is unzipped, so that may be the problem. If this is enough information, could you help me out? Signed, Clueless Computer User |
|

 | | WannaBe: <OhioChessFan> Do you by chance know the extension of the file? (It's the letters that comes after the period. Usually 3 letters) Usually .zip That would give me some clues. I know in XP, you don't need WinZip to unzip files. Unless you downloaded a Mac version or Linux version, those tends to end in .bin (But you wouldn't have problem extrating/installing those...) So, if you would also include the version of your Operating System, (If windows, it's usually Windows 2000, Windows ME, Windows XP, or Windows Vista, if Macintosh, please give the version number, if you know it, it would help me greately! =) |
|
Nov-24-07
 | | WannaBe: <OhioChessFan> If you have a windows system, and the file ends in .zip, or .gz or .tar, you can extract it by installing winzip, here is the link: http://www.winzip.com/downwz.htm (This is for pre-XP operating system, because XP can handle .zip files...) The download is a trial version, after certain time amount, it will expire... |

 | | WannaBe: Kansas U. need a miracle to pull this game out... Missouri U. have outplayed them the whole game. |
|
| Nov-25-07 | | suenteus po 147: <WannaBe> Like other symmetrical setups, such as the Petrov, and the English, the symmetrical Bird's is quite drawish by design, but offers plenty of chances for both sides to create imbalances or develop counterplay. My best advice, for playing the black side, is to have plans for responses to white's natural attempts to create imbalance. And if white plays passively, have a plan for generating imbalances early to wrestle the initiative away. As with the Petrov or English Symmetrical (as I've found playing them from the black side) if you play aggressively, you can win, and if you play solidly, your chances of coming out with a draw are above average. I hope you find this useful. |

 | | OhioChessFan: I have Windows XP. The files are .zip I believe they are unzipped. Still the same error message. |
|
Nov-25-07
 | | WannaBe: <OhioChessFan> Send me the link to where you obtained the files, let me try to duplicate what you are trying to do... I'm meeting <NakoSonorense> later in the day, may not back home to examine this issue until late... |
|
Nov-26-07
 | | OhioChessFan: GRRRRRRRRRR. The link doesn't work now. I'll put this on hold for now. Maybe try another engine. |
|
Nov-26-07
 | | OhioChessFan: Okay, I managed to get Rybka 1.0 Beta up and running with Arena. It was easier than I expected. On a practical note, is there some recommended procedure for getting rid of old monitors? I'm not exactly a candidate for Greenpeace, but I don't fancy the thought of simply tossing it in the trash. |
|

 | | WannaBe: <OhioChessFan> Try contacting your local recycling center, my area publishes the date/location for electronics equipment in the newspaper, and you can bring the stuff there. If they don't accept, or don't know where, try contacting places like Best Buy, Circuit City, Office Max, etc... see if they know/accept old electronics for recycling purposes. If nothing else, if it still works, and you just want to get rid of it, try donating it to library/school/Goodwill. |
