WannaBe: In case I forgot, congrats to them Lady Bruins. =)) U. Mich (69-63) won, but the last spread I saw was -6.5, so if you took UConn w/ spread, you got very lucky, if you bet on them U. Mich, I feel bad; the O/U was 148.5

WannaBe: <CIO> LOL. I remember those mems... <chancho> North by Norwest, totally agree, the audiences know that the plane scene was filmed earlier and played on a screen behind. It was still drama. Same thing with the Mt. Rushmore chase scene.

WannaBe: ¡Olé! ¡Olé! this is what I see for "¡Olé! ¡Olé!" (game of the day Mar-13-2026) I also know this issue have been around for a while, and it's not that important, in IT term, it is a level 'C', cosmetic fix. But I just wish to report it again. Can CG.com unify this ...

WannaBe: <FSR> March 11 is his birthday, and usually PoD is chosen from the birth date of the player. So unless CG.com decides to change the algorithm on how PoD is decided. We will randomly get "undesired" player(s).

  WannaBe: http://gameknot.com/mt.pl?id=23755

You know who really, really scares me in that tournament??? It's the guy in last place, one game finished, and he won that game, and he's the one who started the tournament...

Really taking his time (notice the time control...) and he scares the crap out of me.

I've played relatively 'fast', and my result so far is OK/acceptable for me, or my level of play, but this guy... He scares me.

WannaBe: It's cold here in L.A. we are down to about 50 degrees, I can hartly type collectry, everytime I bearth, I see my own exhale...
Dec-29-07  ahmadov: <I am the inventor of the WannaBe Gambit: 1. e4 ... 2. Ke2? ! ? ! Use it at your own risk, if you should lose the game, it just means you play exactly like me. <CONGRATULATIONS>!!> You can also ask <CG> to register this as your opening to protect your copy right for the future misuse of these moves... ;-)
Dec-29-07  talisman: <WannaBe> thanks WannaBe...great stuff.

cu8sfan: Re <King's Gambit Accepted, Fischer Defence> After a devastating loss against the King's Gambit (Spassky vs Fischer, 1960) Fischer wrote an article in "American Chess Quarterly" entitled "A Bust to the King's Gambit" where he introduced 3...d6. That's why it's called the Fischer Defence. You can read the article here: http://www.chesscafe.com/text/bust.....
Dec-31-07  brankat: <WannaBe><cuBsfan> An interesting article by Evans/Fischer. And, yes, that's how the variation got it's name.

Just one remark. I think there is a mistake in the Bio part there:

<They include a solid second (to World Champion Tal) at the powerful Zurich Tournament, 1959,>

I believe it was Gligoric who took the 2nd prize, behind Tal and ahead of B.Fischer.

Dec-31-07  brankat: Also, contrary to L.Evans text, Fischer lost the game to Gligoric in Zurich, 1959:

Gligoric vs Fischer, 1959

Dec-31-07  brankat: <WannaBe> My dear friend, I want to wish You a very Happy and prosperous New Year.

May it bring You a whole bunch of cute girlfriends, many astounding victories OTB, and business successes.

Cheers!

P.S. Just a thought. Instead of "Grill & Bar Pool Hall", how about "Grill & Bar Chess Hall"? :-)

After all, how many of those are there are around!

Dec-31-07  Robin01: <WannaBe> A Happy and successful New Year to you!

<"Grill & Bar Chess Hall"> This sounds good!:)

Dec-31-07  JoeWms: You've given much to 2007, you're entitled to a Happy New Year.

Dec-31-07  Open Defence: HAPPY NEW YEAR <Mr Wabbit> are you sure 2008 is not the year of the Rabbit ?
