WannaBe: In case I forgot, congrats to them Lady Bruins. =)) U. Mich (69-63) won, but the last spread I saw was -6.5, so if you took UConn w/ spread, you got very lucky, if you bet on them U. Mich, I feel bad; the O/U was 148.5

WannaBe: <CIO> LOL. I remember those mems... <chancho> North by Norwest, totally agree, the audiences know that the plane scene was filmed earlier and played on a screen behind. It was still drama. Same thing with the Mt. Rushmore chase scene.

WannaBe: ¡Olé! ¡Olé! this is what I see for "¡Olé! ¡Olé!" (game of the day Mar-13-2026) I also know this issue have been around for a while, and it's not that important, in IT term, it is a level 'C', cosmetic fix. But I just wish to report it again. Can CG.com unify this ...

WannaBe: <FSR> March 11 is his birthday, and usually PoD is chosen from the birth date of the player. So unless CG.com decides to change the algorithm on how PoD is decided. We will randomly get "undesired" player(s).

WannaBe: I've noticed that some members like to post well wish messages on various forum, but unfortunately, I'm very, very, very, very lazy.

(Ever seen a 'hard working' rabbit? I didn't think so...)

To all my friends (and advanced apology if I left out your name) <What's his name>, <What's her name>, <You know, that guy>, <The one with the funny avatar>, <The one who posts often on 'Odd Lie' page>, <That guy who always posts 'first'>, <The one I lost to in 5 moves on ICC>, <That other one that I lost to in 6 moves on FICS>, <That guy that I lost to in 10 moves on GameKnot.com>, <The one who destroyed me in 15 moves on QueenAlice.com>, and finally, <The one who played my own gambit and <BEAT ME> on schemingmind.com>

Happy New Year!!! (I'm studying 'really', 'really', 'really' hard, so be ready for my Gambit!!!)

Jan-01-08  brankat: How about a "Gambit Hall", ..."Enter at Your own....." :-) Surely, there must be some gambling inclined characters in the area. And they are a Gold mine :-)
Jan-01-08  chesstoplay: Happy New Year!!

Hope to see you again this year in Chicago.

Stay safe and stay funny in 2008 you wabbit!!!

Jan-01-08  malthrope: 'Happy New Year' <WannaBe> :)

May it be a great one, chess wise, with lots of fresh carrots for your favorite wabbit! ;)

All the Best, - Mal

WannaBe: Oy, this Georgia v. Hawaii game is getting as ugly as the USC v. Illinois game...
Jan-02-08  brankat: <WannaBe> I suppose You are not going to make it to Gibraltar again this year. Any other tournament plans for 2008? Some US Championships, I guess.

WannaBe: <brankat> Correct, no Gibraltar for me this year... =( I was very much looking forward to it too...

For sure, for sure, I will be at the 2008 National Open again (http://www.lvchessfestival.com) and I do intend to sign up for the Gata Kamsky Simul. Going to see if I can last as long as I did against Susan Polgar. =)

<whiskeyrebel> and I have already begun thinking about sharing a room again, and do what we did last year, which worked out great for both of us.

Jan-02-08  brankat: Well, Eric Schiller is not going to be in Gibraltar this year either. So, You are not going to miss all that much :-)

Also, there is more action available in Vegas!

WannaBe: <brankat> Some day... I'll visit Europe... Some day...
Jan-03-08  brankat: Perhaps Staunton Memorial in August! Both E.Schiller and R.Keene will be there. And of course, <achieve>, <EmperorA>, <dakgootje>...right across the Channel :-)
Jan-03-08  HFlew: Hey! I don't think you invented that gambit. My opponent (an expert), used to play that all the time against me!
Jan-04-08  brankat: Captain Kirk?

WannaBe: Looks like 2008 is off to a rough start on the stock market...

BUY! BUY! BUY!!

Jan-04-08  NakoSonorense: Grr, I'm gonna get me a graphing calculator tomorrow. It costs ~ $100. So darn expensive! :(

Don't worry, after that I'm sure the stock market will skyrocket... :S

Jan-05-08  brankat: Don't buy and don't sell. Keep the money in your pocket.
Jan-05-08  Pi Guy: I was bored, so I decided to try out the WannaBe Gambit in a game with 5 minutes per side. Unfortunately, I completely messed it up and ended up with a horrible position (or is that the point of the gambit?)... Then my opponent traded off too many pieces and I pressured his king until he ran out of time.

I know 33. Ke5 would have been better and I'm pretty sure 2. d4 would have been an improvement, but at least it wasn't a short draw...

Jan-05-08  Pi Guy: I'm starting to think this gambit might have some merit! :)

Experiments are scheduled for a later date to determine the usefulness of this opening in games in which the opponent is better than the creator of the gambit. Until then, I guess I'll just assume that it's sound...

WannaBe: <Pi Guy> That 'sound', is your opponent's jaw dropping to the floor. =)
Jan-05-08  Pi Guy: I think my second opponent actually picked it up and did surgery before making his second move.

...and thanks for the new opening, but I don't think it fits my strategy.

Jan-05-08  Open Defence: It reminds me of Steinitz Gambit line ... Ke2 has pedigree
Jan-06-08  Zebra: Sorry I was too late to kill the previous post. Could you please remove it for me?
Jan-06-08  brankat: <Zebra> It looks like <WannaBe> deleted the wrong one :-)
