WannaBe: In case I forgot, congrats to them Lady Bruins. =)) U. Mich (69-63) won, but the last spread I saw was -6.5, so if you took UConn w/ spread, you got very lucky, if you bet on them U. Mich, I feel bad; the O/U was 148.5

WannaBe: Well, I deleted both of the posts made by <Zebra>, I may have made/read his third post wrong, and deleted the wrong one.

<Zebra> If you wish to repost the links to games, please do so again, sorry to have deleted the wrong one. =(

Jan-06-08  Zebra: Yes it was the wrong one, but I guess I wasn't clear.

The link was to the Wannabe gambit deferred (Opening Explorer). There is also the Double Wannabe where the king advances to e3, as in J L Arnason vs T Wedberg, 1982.

WannaBe: Tonight's "Simpsons" is the funniest, wittiest, political satire episode I've seen this year.

What?! The year just begun?!?! Why didn't anyone tell me!?!!!!

WannaBe: Is the Big-10 really that over-rated? (First of all, they have 11 teams, so they should change the name of the conference...)

Or is the SEC really that good??!!

  WannaBe: Well....

I turned in my resignation/notice letter today at work. My last day of officially working for my present company will come to an end on the 17th.

That is the day where I'll turn in my badge/pass, my key to the server's room (4 of us have a key to that room, and I'm the only non-managerial position employee to have one... Even my own immediate supervisor/manager don't have one... Come to think of it, he doesn't even have/know the password to log-in to the server(s)... =)

I feel it's time for a second/another adventure in my life (in my youth, I rode my 600cc motorcycle from California to South Dakota...) And I feel the time is right for a 'change'.

After 10 years of corporate, I desire(?), want(?), something new, challenging (does not mean my computer career isn't/wasn't challenging...) and new possibilities?!?!

I've already spent about 2 days working/training down at the pub, I've gotten the keys from the owner (he even left me alone to close the joint Saturday night...) and quite frankly, I was a bit surprised at how fast I got back into the 'groove' of things. (I worked in bars/restaurants during college...)

As F. Gump said, <That's all I have to say about that, for now...> and as Armstrong said, <It's one small step for <WannaBe> but a giant leap for rabbit-kind>

Will post some pics of the joint when the time comes... =)

Jan-08-08  brankat: <WannaBe> So the deal has been finalized?

At least You don't have to worry about the bars-related experience factor :-)

But, for a first few months, You will miss Your regular paychecks. It's a habit, like any other one. Something like, 260 checks, in regular intervals, over 10 years period.

Good Luck!

Btw, I just made a move in the game at GK.

WannaBe: <brankat> The deal has not 'officially' been finalized, but it's headed in the right direction.

I wasn't going to leave my work, I planned on making one of the employee as a 'supervisor', handle the ordering of goods, and what-nots.

Well, Friday night, he got mad at one of the cook, the current owner and I talked to him, and got him to calm down and got things back to normal (somewhat).

Then Saturday afternoon, he got mad, and flipped out at another cook, walked out...

So much for him, and his 'future' with Caissa Inc.

As far as our game on GK goes, please have mercy... Let me last 15 moves. =)

Jan-08-08  brankat: <WannaBe> <with Caissa Inc. > Is this actually the name of the organization?

  WannaBe: <brankat: <WannaBe> <with Caissa Inc.> Is this actually the name...>

Yep! RonB52734 chessforum but my partner's moved to Colorado, so now it's just me.

That's why the decision (also, besides the idiot who walked out of the job last week) to resign my work, if I have a partner, things wouldn't be so 'tight'...

  jessicafischerqueen: Hi Ho venerable <MannBee>!!

I edited my "Awards Section" so that it says I won a <Caissar>-- but I still gave you credit for organizing this year's edition and tabulating the votes.

I never heard of these awards before and I bet I'm not the only one who wants to thank you for "stepping up to the plate" this year to organize said event.

Lots of fun!!!

Also: re "Pictures."

no, no, no, good grief.

You sang <Aretha Franklin's> RESPECT in my forum.

So I "made a joke" pretending I was confused that you were a female black singer when I've actually seen real pictures of YOU in your forum.

I'm fairly certain you are not black or female (going by your pictures), but you may in fact be a fine singer...

But thanks for that story about the <German waitress> and you making <executive decisions> before you are the <de jure> Dictator for Life of your Bar and Grill!!

I'm very excited and happy for you putting your "dreams in action" like that.

Regards,
CC

Oh PS in case you didn't know-- you could actually get me <banned for life> simply by "blowing the whistle" on me calling you <MannBee> all the time.

CG.com EXPLICITLY told me I wasn't allowed to make "Parody nicknames" anymore.

However, I love imagining you as the <noted superhero MannBee> so I hope it's OK.

Regards,
JFQuennedy (obviously, you are free to call me anything you like).

Except late for dinner!!

HAHAHAHA

sigh

Personally, I don't care what I am called, been called a lot worse 'names'...

But when I do my 'Search Kibitz', I only search for my handle. So, I may have misseed a post or two with my name mis-spelled, or people calling me by another name. =)

No wonder, in your profile, you warn people to "BACK OFF"... =)

Jan-11-08  NakoSonorense: Question, question! I have a question.

On a regular keyboard we have a separate numeric keypad, but on my laptop it's apparently merged with the with the Qwerty keys. I have a button (fn) to access the numeric keypad, but for some reason I can't get the Unicode characters, like ß, á, ñ, etc when I press fn + alt + number key.

What am I missing? How do I do it?!?

Jan-11-08  brankat: <NakoSonorense> You need a new laptop.
Jan-11-08  meloncio: <brankat><NakoSonorense - You need a new laptop> What a bad luck! Santa Claus & Reyes Magos went far away just a few days ago. :-)

WannaBe: <NakoSonorense> Yeah, that's been seen before, I usually go back to the ol' copy/paste from the character map.

Seems like, for some reason, if you only use the numeric keys, it works, but if you do it with any other key combo (fn/alt) the software OS, or the browser just don't know what to do. =(
