And waste it's sweetness on the desert air"

#############################

If a new category title was created: "Best/Worst Quote/Reply" - then these two made me laugh the hardest! :)

1) <DCP23>

<An interesting thing to note is that when Bulgaria struggled (and lost) to Germany 2, and struggled (and won) vs Dominican Republic, Topalov left Chepa to fight for him with the lower-rated GMs on the 1st board. Now, when a 2289(!)-rated IM appears, the Great Man says, "Step aside!! This one's mine!!>

Source: Olympiad (2008)

2) <Open Defence> aka <Red October>

<OD: <Woody Wood Pusher: would be a nice change from random porn adverts and invites to Gay-Black-Dating sites> you gotta stop advertising your forum as the Mate in 2! :)>

Source: jessicafischerqueen chessforum

And, from last year...

<Open Defence> aka <Red October>

<Open Defence: Topalov to Kramnik - is that a Fritz in your pocket, or are you just happy to see me?>

Source: Topalov vs Kramnik, 2007

I'm still in stitches over that one! ~lol~

I'll try harder to save the 'Best/Worst Puns' as they come along for next year. Should mention that I thought <suenteus po 147> - "Fiddling While Burn Roams (June 13, 2008), Fire on the Beard (Feb. 24, 2008)" and <Benzol> - "Chess is no place for dark thoughts - <Memorable Quotes>" were both excellent. :)

Finally, to my friend Jess: Fair is fair - CAN'T BE BAD! :^) - Mal

  Open Defence: <Wannabe> maybe we should add this rookie of the year category, I would include

<artyom2008>
<klangenfarben>
<blue wave>

in the nominations

Dec-04-08  malthrope: Good point <OD> ;)

<Just a kid> was also nominated for the Rookie post by <Tactic101> earlier. :)

As I was telling Annie, <"...Although, we are after all just expressing the tip of the iceberg - so many talented and creative Chess experts in so many fields... Each with a unique twist all their own! :D">

So, in lieu of that I'd like to add on...

Funniest Kibitzer: <Open Defence> aka <Red October>

and...

Most Helpful: <hms123>

To my list of Caissar nominees. Thanks <WannaBe> :))

Dec-04-08  Ragh: I understand that this process is still in the nominations phase right now, but when is the pageant day when these Caissar nominees are gonna parade on the stage and collect awards?
Dec-04-08  suenteus po 147: Another nomination for Best Handle/Name: <talisman>

Although the avatar is a big part of what makes it work :)

Dec-04-08  technical draw: Funniest kibizer= tamar
Dec-04-08  technical draw: Seeing the list of the young deceased chessplayers I am surprised and sadden to see the name of Karen Asrian. I didn't know of his death.
Dec-04-08  achieve: Another nomination for 'Best Gamecollection': <KingG>

KingG's Game Collections

... among others containing a treasure trove with quotations.

Dec-05-08  malthrope: <WannaBe> - Please indulge me with one more new Caissar category...

Best Creative Kibitzer: <achieve>

Under the theory "Best Kibitzer" needs a cool sidekick! :)) Since we have thousands of kibitzers here with plenty of room for one more category! <grin>

Thanks! :))

PS: It's self explanatory if you read my chessforum. ~lol~

Dec-05-08  Woody Wood Pusher: I think there needs to be another category added.

In fact, I can't believe this one has ben missed.

<Kibbutzer who most doesn't want the name of the Caissar Awards changed to the Coveted and Prestigious MannBee Awards>

Dec-06-08  malthrope: <Woody Wood Pusher: I think there needs to be another category added.

In fact, I can't believe this one has ben missed.>

So right you are Woody! ;) I can't believe it either... "Coveted" even! <grin> Must be the Ionosphere in connection with the moon phase this month... Santa Clause will be here soon enough to clean things up and spread his good cheer!! Don't forget to mark 'December 25th' on your calendars! Best to circle it in <red> for Rudolf... :))

Following your Nostradamus soothsayer inspired insight there is one more category that should be carefully considered (I'm actually serious with this one!)...

"Best Freakin' Time in a C-Forum"

This concept came up when <Eyal> posted a cute combo stumper from a game. Then <JFQ>, <achieve>, <Eyal> and I just had a grand ol' time with a mayhem of analysis, fun and laughs that lasted 4 freakin' pages in total (Nov 13th-16th) when we finally stopped chatting about it. ~lol~ This all took place in <JFQ>'s chessforum and started on page 464 (Nov 13th) with <Eyal>'s post of the combo diagram. Here is the direct link to the page that started it all off - jessicafischerqueen chessforum

Jess would, of course, be my nomination for this special category! :))

BTW: I've rounded up all the suggestions of newly created Caissar award categories and posted them in my chessforum. Anyone and everyone is welcome to make comments! :) Cheers, - Mal

PS: Figured <WannaBe> would not want to be deluged with all this while the prestigious & coveted Caissar nominations are going on... ;)
