  Check It Out: <WannaBe>:

As the nomination is for <Best Written Post>, not <best writing poster>, shouldn't the post in question be presented? Or, perhaps the nomination is misnamed.

Clarification, please.

Come back next November and discuss it to your heart's delight. If that's too far away, I have some thoughts on my forum.

Check It Out: <OCF> That's true, and why I think the category is misnamed. Instead of <Best Written Post>, perhaps <Best Writing Poster> would clarify, and negate the need to identify a specific post. Now, how do we convince <WannaBe> to change it for next year?
Jan-09-12  valiant: Best written post - <Zarg>

I'm voting for Zarg due to this post(s):

<zarg: <patzer2: Too bad you're not willing to check out the facts for yourself. Students who are "bored with numbers" often wind up flipping burgers>

Lets look at that "tax cut pay for themselves" myth.

Consider a $100 economy, then

1. 40% tax revenues, the public get $40
2. 30% tax revenues, the public get $30

Solving Y * 30% = $40

we see that this $100 economy must grow to a $133 economy, to get same tax revenues as we do at 40% rate.

Thats right, so all you burger flippers out there, it takes 33% growth of the economy to cover that gap in tax rates.

How someone can advocated 25% tax rate, when public expenditure has been 35% of GDP (or more) for a decade, I do wonder. One thing is sure, if serious advice and not a deliberate scam, it can't be from someone strong in math.>

<zarg: <patzer2: <Zarg> Why are you suddenly arguing tax cuts always reduce revenue? You know better than that. The old Soviet Union and China under Mao killed economic growth and revenue available>

The burger flipper community also know that G7 countries like Canada and Germany are mixed-economies, just like the US economy and Nordic economies are.

Canada and Germany run public revenues around 40% of GDP level, Nordic do it above 50% GDP level, while US do it 30% level. We all run mixed market model, so pulling in communist economy of Soviet or Mao China... make no sense at all.>

Caissar is not perfect, (but I am. =)

After last year, we had discussion on how things may be improved, I am always open to comments/critiques/opinions, positive/negative/neutral or otherwise.

I appreciate the feedbacks, and that tells me that people here <CARE>. They care about CG.com's (tight-knit) community, and the quality of this place.
