Penguincw: Woo, Kershaw becomes the first pitcher since at least 1913 with 5 straight games of 10+ strikeouts with 1 walk or fewer. He also improves to 81-0 when receiving at least 4 runs of support.

He beat Colon last night, and also passed Colon for active leader in shutouts, with 14.

May-13-16  Boomie: 1913 - Had to be either Walter "Big Train" Johnson or "Smokey" Joe Wood. The Wiki articles on them don't mention that record. But they were both essentially unhittable in 1913. In 1912, Wood was 34-5 with an ERA of 1.91 and 258 Ks. Now that was a year and a half.

Lightning beat Pens in G1, 3-1. Remember last year, when you, me and <MN> were cheering for the Bolts? May not be a O6 sweep this time around, but hey, let's cheer for them!

Penguincw: The Lightning lose, although they were outshot 41-21...

But hey, the Toronto Marlies win, and advance now to face the Hershey Bears in the Conference Finals (however the buzz in Toronto seems to be, unsurprisingly, the Raptors).

Speaking of hockey, tomorrow, me and <Switch>'s country go H2H, hockey. Canada is currently tied with Finland on points at the top of Group B, all tiebreaks irrelevant; winner will be first.

And well, as it currently stands, winner will face Denmark/Switzerland in QF, loser (2nd place) faces Sweden.

Still, several crucial games tomorrow. I will also be cheering on USA, as they have not clinched a pass yet. However, all they have to do is get one point vs. the Slovaks, and it's all good.

For the record, I predict the playoff bracket will remain exactly as it is.

Penguincw: Preakness Stakes about to win. For me, <if> I had to put a bet on something, I'd put the minimum on "Nyquist" placing top 3.

Tragic story though, as 2 horses die in the first few races. :(

Penguincw: Ah, so Nyquist did finish in 3rd+. I "lost" $2.40 last time, "won" $0.20 today, so "lifetime", I'm at -$2.20. Let's see if I could do better at the Belmont Stakes!

May-22-16  thegoodanarchist: <WannaBe: GPRO closed today at $8.82, back in Oct. 2014, the stock was trading at $93.85.

That's right, ninety three dollars and eighty five cents. That's not a typo, it's worth have dropped approx. 92%

TWTR closed today at $14.08, back in Dec. 2013, it was trading at $73.31. Ugh!!

(I don't own any of these two stocks directly, I hope my retirement account portfolio don't either...)>

Glad to hear that. With those kinds of stocks, long-term investing is more risky than trading. Imagine taking profits on GPRO at, say, $88 or so? Much nicer than holding on...

But seeing as you're a betting man, ever bet on any small-cap biotech stocks? PCYC or REGN?

WannaBe: Update on my StubHub 'investments'...

Sunday's CHI/SF game was a total loss, purchased 2 tickets and was not able to re-sell them (Warriors game was same night, same time) loss of $96. As I was not able to attend the game myself.

Sold June 12 LAD/SF game, made $18. So, thus far, including last year, I think I am down about $15 or so, still have 3 listings.
