MissScarlett: < <Isle of Man is not a country but a "Crown dependency"> That makes sense. Perhaps it's best left as ENG as we've done in previous years.>

What does FIDE's list of countries have to with what's best for this site? We needn't follow anyone; let them follow us. The tag is Site. <Douglas ENG> is simply misleading. If you want to go extra-terrestial, <Douglas, IMN GBR> would be correct.

We've had this discussion before - and there you liked the cut of my GIB: Tradewise Gibraltar (2017)

Could you please delete the following post of mine from her forum?

chessgames.com: <zanzibar: could you please delete my post> OK, sure.

<zanzibar: Also, can you also remove her forum from my recent kibitzing?> Put her on ignore and you won't see her chessforum.

Sep-25-17  zanzibar: Thanks <chessgames>, sorry to trouble you on this business.

I don't want to place her on ignore though - I just wanted some symmetry restored. It's a good suggestion though, and I'll just wait till that post drops off my recent list.

Thanks.

Sep-27-17  WinKing: No 'live' playoff games today between Aronian & Sing it Liren? Your gonna leave us hangin' after the great coverage you have provided us so far? C'mon <chessgames> one more so we can see the outcome of this match...please. :)

Tabanus: <CG> If you have little to do (which I doubt), there are games to download from each of the six sections of the World Youth Chess Ch 2017:

http://chess-results.com/tnr297054...., no idea about pgn quality.

chessgames.com: Sorry <WinKing> but we typically don't cover rapid events.

<six sections of the World Youth Chess Ch 2017> Thanks. We'll get to them soon.

Sep-27-17  gauer: http://www.chess-results.com/Partie... also has the other 6 2017 WYCC <Cadets'> sections (U-12, U-10, U-8 + women's groups, but only up to round 9 of 11 there - played a month ago at Pocos de Caldas, Brazil). I don't see anything in one of the 6 pgn files (of U-8 group, say) to distinguish event/site headers of those from another (say u-10(w) group: http://www.chess-results.com/Partie... if you want them listed as separate tid pages or of the same WYCC cadets/non-cadet's events) (main 6-section cross-table page(s) here http://www.chess-results.com/tnr295... ).

Richard Taylor: <chessgames.com> I just started using the (more or less) full facilities of the Olga Chess viewer: it is brilliant. I had the default thing before as Java etc wouldn't work for me. And I can get assessments quickly in opening etc as well as flip the board etc.

So thanks a lot! Brilliant!

(I did notice as I was heading for here an Olga chess discussion forum).

chessgames.com: Thanks Richard, it's our goal to present the best features of Chess Viewer Deluxe combined with the best features of pgn4web, combined with special Chessgames-related "hooks" to our Stockfish system.

Our list of "issues/bugs" has shrunk from about a dozen to only 2 or 3 now. I am meeting with the very talented programmer Christopher Dean in mid October to hammer out the final details.

If you encounter any problems or have any suggestions they are welcomed over at the Olga Viewer chessforum.

Tabanus: CG, on the Millionaire Chess (2015) page, the links to blitz tiebreaks A and B still says Rapid. I've been waiting for an auto-change to kick in there.

chessgames.com: I was confused at what you meant, but I see now. What you have to do is go to the tournament page in question and press "EDIT" on the article, without making a single change, and the links that have new names will correct themselves.

The same would hold true if the spelling of a player was changed; the old spelling would be apparent on articles until some change (even a "null change") is applied.

(Somewhere I have software that does that automatically to all articles but it's not run on any regular basis. Maybe it should be.)

Anyhow I just clicked "edit" and I believe the tournaments in question are now correctly labeled.

Sep-29-17  Alien Math: thought you would like to note that i encountered no problems with the new Olga Chess viewer, a bonus that it appears easy on the eyes also
Sep-29-17  Magpye: I liked the new Olga Chess viewer.

Tabanus: Thanks CG. I remembered that trick afterwards.

Olga: I like her. But one thing: I still find the diagram a little too big. E. g., when comparing duplicate games, I often have to scroll to see the full game score.

chessgames.com: <Alien Math> <Magpye> Thanks so much. It's still a work in progress but it's turning out to be a very nice fit for CG, especially with the continually developing Stockfish features.

offramp: I want to make a comment about the hierarchy of colours when using guillemets. Got that?

It seems to be
1. Teal
2. Red
3. Violet
4. Blue
5. Light green
6. Lovat LOL

The trouble is, especially with the first two, that they are so similar.

Wouldn't it be much clearer if the order was
1. Teal
2. Blue
3. Green
4. Violet... ?

Then quotes within quotes would show up in sharper relief than at present.

offramp: For the last hour, after the quick draw in Carlsen v Nakamura, the front page has LIVE GAME HIKARU V KRAMNIK. But clicking on it takes you back to the long finished game of Carlsen v Nakamura.

Can we change games before the games end?

MissScarlett: Need a fix on the <Site> tag for the following WC matches, all held in <Moscow URS>. From Botvinnik - Bronstein World Championship Match (1951) to Karpov - Kasparov World Championship Match (1984) with the obvious exception of Fischer-Spassky 1972, and Botvinnik-Petrosian, 1963 (manually corrected).

chessgames.com: <I want to make a comment about the hierarchy of colours when using guillemets. Got that?> I follow completely.

<The trouble is, especially with the first two, that they are so similar.>

I can see what you are saying, but it's intended to work that way. If we wanted sharp contrast we wouldn't have used spectral order but jump back and forth between complementary colors. I experimented with it years ago and thought it looked too garish. And besides, I don't want to mess up cormier's beautiful posts that remind one of stained glass.
