Lol. I did too Daniel. Perhaps you'd like to post it right here? Because I'm going to post your emails about other members of this site, if doxxing is okay then let's go esco?

chessgames.com: <the homepage link to the Thematic Challenge> So embarrassing to engrave a typo into a graphic like that. I've been meaning to replace that entire graphic with something more cool anyhow. Give me a day or two, you'll see what I mean.

<WinKing> Received and answered. Thank you very much.

<Dr Winston OBoogie> Please just go away.

Nov-25-17  Dr Winston OBoogie: Thought as much! Coward

Tabanus: "World Juniors" is more embarrassing IMO.

Which title did he win exactly? I suppose you blitzed this out in bullet speed, relying on TWIC, who could not even wait to add the rd. 11 games.

Nov-25-17  zanzibar: <<OCF> Great stuff zanzy ...>

Thanks, though I think I flubbed the cadence a bit on the last verse.

Perhaps an extra adjective, or a little tweek..

e.g. <... came without any provisio>.

Tabanus: Thanks for changing to World Junior Championship (2017). As in 2016, 2015 and earlier. I still don't understand why it's necessary to have three different names for the same event though. There is also "World Juniors Open" on the front page and "World Juniors" in the TI. Cheers, Tab.

chessgames.com: World Junior Open / World Junior / World Junior Championship are all synonymous, as far as I know.

The cause of inconsistency is simply that every year we gather PGN and title it whatever is in vogue for that year (according to TWIC, official sites, etc.) The fact that they keep changing the name of the event means that we inadvertently do as well. But the good news is I can normalize it fairly easily, and so can Sargon.

Tabanus: It's all good CG. I was upset (again) by several things. 1) I felt Tari (like the others) should be called World Champion. 2) The official site does not (to this time) give any report or even the result. It only links to Chess-Results, and 3) Chess-Results claims to have "nothing to do with it". 4) The last round games: still not uploaded by the organiser. That's not TWIC's or CG's fault. And yes, organizers come up with new names each time. Btw, I sent you a mail.

MissScarlett: This game score isn't fully showing using Olga: Fischer vs A LoCoco, 1964

Can't see why 7.0-0 isn't being rendered.

I've also got quite a stack of submitted games awaiting delivery.

I'm now aware that <Wichita, TX USA> for some of the Fischer games is wrong. Let them through, and I'll correct them myself.

WannaBe: Pretty sure it's zero vs capital O problem, downloaded all the Fischer games and that's the only one with 0-0 instead O-O.

Then I got all of ol' Victor Korchnoi games PGN, and they are all O-O.

WannaBe: To further compound the 'issue'

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Porta...

Under Movetext:

<SAN kingside castling is indicated by the sequence O-O; queenside castling is indicated by the sequence O-O-O (note that these are capital Os, not zeroes, contrary to the FIDE standard for notation). >

Chess Viewer Deluxe II do show the whole game.

MissScarlett: Yes, I've come to the same conclusion, but I neglected that possibility, because I've always submitted games with 0-0, and never noticed a problem with Olga before. There must be a program that <cg.com> employs to normalise the PGNs, so how did this one slip through?

MissScarlett: I see now that when I copy and paste a game from Rybka into <cg.com>, my usual method of submitting games, what on-screen reads 0-0 is indeed transformed in PGN to O-O. Hmmmm.

chessgames.com: Yes, we transform the common zero-zero error by turning it into O-O. It's possible that some games were processed in the past when that wasn't the practice. We should do a sweep for all games with zero-zero in the move portion.
Nov-27-17  zanzibar: Oh, now I get it!
Nov-27-17  zanzibar: Suggestion - on any player's page add a dropbox for submission/automatic updating of player photo.

1. Begin by only allowing a dropbox for those players missing photo.

2. If copyright concerns are an issue - only allow a drop of WikiMedia links.

3. Allow flagging of such submissions - or have an editor (or some admin) review said submission.

This idea has been floated before, I know, I know.

Nov-28-17  Benzol: One Month Ago! <Benzol> <<chessgames> You have all the available games from the 8th Asian veterans and senior championships won by GM Eugenio Torre and IM Lodhi Mahmood respectively sitting in the games queue. When are we likely to see them appear?>
