May-13-18  morfishine: So, its ok for a non-premium member to attack a famous chess player; but if a premium member defends that chess player, his posting gets suspended for "attacking" the non-premium member???

The hypocrisy here is incredible

Tabanus: <CG> Pages like this forum and the game collections are glaring to my eyes because 2/3 of the screen is pure white!

Is it possible to make the unused part(s) black or darker?

May-14-18  morfishine: Dear <chessgames.com> When are you going to suspend <john barleycorn>'s posting privileges, or preferably, ban the mother @#$%er outright? I am tired of this bull @#$% F this guy
May-14-18  morfishine: You need to make this a pay-premium only site: That will eliminate 90% of the useless trolls/garbage, entities like <john barleycorn> who are absolutely useless and contribute nothing but provocation
May-15-18  zanzibar: <Tab> try one of these:

Gets the glare out.

May-16-18  thegoodanarchist: Here is today's quote of the day:

<The open file, being cleared of pawns, offers no permanent targets. The advantage of controlling an open file consists mainly in the chance of penetrating the enemy position and switching to horizontal activity.>

It is attributed to Kmoch, but it sounds like Nimzovich, from <My System>

Unfortunately, I no longer own a copy of <MS>, or I'd check it myself.

May-16-18  zborris8: It's from Kmoch's Pawn Power in Chess about the "horizontal switch".
May-16-18  diceman: <"horizontal switch".>

I thought that was a Three-card monte move?

OK, then - I'll take your word for it. But it sure sounds like Nimzo...

offramp: I hate to say I told you so, but I definitely told you so!

Rogoff and its worshippers has gone out of control.

Reduce Rogoff to 99 pages AT MOST and eliminate all Rogoff and KCafe postings from the statistics page.

That will be a start.

May-18-18  Big Pawn: <Offramp>, why do you want to control and eliminate a certain part of the community here? If you don't go to the rogoff page, then how it is hurting you?

<offramp> is obviously a control freak.

I am not a control freak. I want posts at the Rogoff page to stay on-topic.

May-18-18  Big Pawn: <offramp>, it’s been the way it is for years and years. Why do you want to impose your will to change it?

What makes you a first class member of the community and those that post on rogoff second class, such that you want to impose your will in them?

Shall I follow you around the site for a year, blowing the whistle every time you veer off topic?

chessgames.com: These conflicts always reminded of an old joke:

A woman calls the police and says "the local boys are swimming naked in the river right by my house." So an officer comes and tells them to swim downstream a quarter mile or so where there aren't any houses. The boys understand and comply.

Later that day, she calls the police again. The officer says "But lady, they are far from your house, surely you can't see them anymore?" She replied, "I can when I use my telescope."
