 | | chessgames.com: For those who don't read español, juan31 just said that he did all 6061 games in Guess the Move and he's hungry for more. We are duly impressed! So, if anybody has any good ideas please submit them at our Guess-the-Move Suggestion Queue. All you have to do is put in the game # and we'll do the rest. Meanwhile the admins are entering some of their own picks. |

| Jan-24-10 | | Knight13: <chessgames.com> Wondering if you guys are ever gonna create separate stat profiles of how many times a member has kibitized in games only, player profiles only, tournament/member forums only, etc.? Of course, this don't have show up in the database statistics; just in a member's profile. |

| Jan-24-10 | | Eyal: <CG> Didn't you make a mistake in the live broadcast page? According to the schedule Shirov should be playing Ivanchuk, rather than Anand, in the 9th round... (http://www.coruschess.com/schedule....) |
|
| Jan-24-10 | | whiteshark: Re: <Tuesday livegame>: Indeed! Round 9 - Tuesday the 26th
S. Tiviakov - V. Anand
J. Smeets - F. Caruana
L. van Wely - P. Leko
N. Short - L. Dominguez
H. Nakamura - S. Karjakin
M. Carlsen - V. Kramnik
<V. Ivanchuk - A. Shirov> The game <Carlsen vs Kramnik>, the two level follower, could be an interesting watch, too. |

 | | chessgames.com: Yes we accidentally put up a round 10 game; the round 9 game is now online. Thanks for pointing that out. If there is widespread interest in watching Carlsen-Kramnik instead of the top board, we'd be happy to put it to a vote. |

| Jan-25-10 | | laskersteinitz: The Gibraltar Open starts tomorrow: http://www.gibraltarchesscongress.c... The rate of play is 40 moves in 100 minutes plus 20 moves in 50 minutes plus 15 minutes for all remaining moves with 30 seconds per move added from the start. |

<Chessgames Bookie> My Round#10 Pick Three bets of (BBW 1000), (DBW 1000) and (BWW 520) were accidentally placed on Round#11! Will you transfer my erroneous Pick Three bets of Round#11 to my intended Round#10 placement of these three bets? It's my error and I greatly appreciate your assistance, *if it can be done equitably*. Thank you,

| Jan-28-10 | | Eyal: <CG> According to the pgn of the official site (http://www.coruschess.com/year/2010...), some moves are missing from Kramnik vs Ivanchuk, 2010: 26.Qxg6+ Kxg6 27.Nf4+ Kxf7 28.Nxd5 Bxd5 29.Rc7 Kf6 30.Re1 Bb4 31.Rd1 Bc6 32.Rd4 Re8 33.h4 Re1+ 34.Kh2 Bc5 35.Rd2 a5 36.Rc8 a4 37.Rg8 Re4 38.Kh3 Re1 39.Kh2 Re4 40.Kh3 Re1. Also, the Kuipers-Vocaturo game of the 10th round is missing from the Corus C page. |
|
| Jan-28-10 | | euripides: <eyal, cg> both Corus and Chessbase websites verbally report that the game was drawn earlier, so I guess it may be worth checking with the Corus tournament administration which version is right. |
|
| Jan-28-10 | | Eyal: <euripides> Oops, you're right, I didn't notice that - just saw a comment by someone on the game page... so it's more likely just a weird mistake in the pgn (actually I haven't really checked the additional moves - maybe they don't even make sense). [The Corus C page still has to be supplemented, though] |
|
| Jan-28-10 | | euripides: <eyal> at a quick look the moves do make sense and are quite interesting - but it might be analysis e.g. if the players themselves disccussed some moves on the electronic board. Worth checking given the high profile of the game. |

 | | chessgames.com: <capatal: Please disregard last request - Rules are rules and <chessgames.com> high standards and values benefit everyone.> Thanks for understanding; it does say "Be sure to check your bet carefully--there are no refunds or exchanges for purchased tickets!" Mastering the web interface is part of skills needed to win the game itself. And besides--how do you know your bets won't win anyhow? |

 | | chessgames.com: About Kramnik vs Ivanchuk, 2010 : sometimes an official site will release erroneous PGN and then fix it later in the tournament, or sometimes the moves transmitted live don't equate to the moves that they release in the official PGN file. We'll leave it as it stands for now and wait until the dust settles. |

 | | kingscrusher: Hi Guys
Have you thought of sometimes just putting an "Iframe" for live relay. For example the Gibraltar (Gibtelecom Masters) has a live relay page courtesy of DGT technology. Now it would be an extra overhead to then do your own live relay when it is already being DGT'ed at this page: http://www.gibraltarchesscongress.c... Moreover, when you do your own live relays there are both technical and strategic issues: Technical - not getting the latest moves in
Strategic - not really promoting the Sponsors of the tournament itself. In this case, it is GibTelecom which are the sponsors of the Gibraltar tournament. Doesn't putting an IFrame to the live games page handle the above two issues - you get the moves live via DGT technology, and the sponsors and other information are relayed from the official site. Also again, people can kibitz as usual on the Gibraltar page. But the only difference is that you set up an Ifram panel on that page. I do this at Chessworld.net and have done for several months now, and sometimes it stimulates quite good discussions even there, where most people just go to play rather than Kibitz. Has such a crude but in my view effective way of relaying been tried before on this site?! |
|
| Jan-29-10 | | Eyal: Regarding the game Kramnik vs Ivanchuk, 2010 - it seems clear now that the current score is indeed partial and that the game lasted 40 moves - the report of Yuri Vasilyev from chesspro mentions Ivanchuk's disappointment about the draw by threefold repetition (http://translate.google.com/transla...), and the score at chessvibes is now corrected accordingly (http://www.chessvibes.com/reports/c...). |
|
| Jan-29-10 | | euripides: <Eyal, cg> Corus have also revised their 10th round report, which now says: <Kramnik surprised Vassili Ivanchuk in an unusual variation of the Queen’s Gambit sacrificing a piece at his 19th for a promising attack. But ‘Chuky’, who played black, found a way out and even held a slight edge in the resulting endgame. The peace was signed at the 40th when both players were in danger of getting into time trouble.> |
|
| Jan-29-10 | | euripides: <eyal> thanks for linking to that exceptionally fine display of Google's translating prowess. I was particularly impressed with the incisive assessment in <On the right hand of his girlfriend, Lauren Lucas, on the left - head coach of Holland Vladimir dummy.> |
