| Sep-18-10 | | isemeria: I think you could improve the handling of transpositions in the opening classification. For example: Portisch vs Kasparov, 1981 This game is classified as E10, which may be technically correct with this move order. But it would be much more informative and useful to have it classified as a Modern Benoni which it is actually. |

 | | Stonehenge: <CG> Can you please remove the 2007 games from Sean Reader. They are duplicates. Can you please upload 'my' draws now? You can remove the short draws I uploaded. I only recently read that you're not interested in those. |

| Sep-18-10 | | whiteshark: Hi ceegee.
Could you please (4-->1) unfify <Hannu Wegner> (game nos. 3-33). The two postal games from 1978 (nos. 1-2) have been played by <Rainer Wegner>, so far not in this database. http://www.chessgames.com/perl/ches... Thanx be4hand |

| Sep-19-10 | | Benzol: <chessgames> Are you waiting for me to get my 'A' into 'G' and upload all the outstanding Boleslavsky games before processing the current submissions? When you do get around to it can you merge the games by Edward Tanoi with the two games listed here http://www.chessgames.com/perl/ches... Thanks in advance.

| Sep-19-10 | | thegoodanarchist: Is it possible for a premium member to change his username? I would like to do that - I have a great one that I like much better. |
|
| Sep-19-10 | | SetNoEscapeOn: Like others, I have always appreciated Game of the Day feature. How about adding a "games of the day" section (or link) to player profile pages so that we can see all such games they have played? Alternatively, you could make this a search option. |

| Sep-19-10 | | malthrope: <chessgames.com: <malthrope: <I first met him at the Piatigorsky Cup in 1966. Then after that he came up for a visit to perform a special 'Clock Simul' and 'Simul Exhibition' (which also featured a wonderful lecture where he showed us his brilliant victory against Petrosian [ Larsen vs Petrosian, 1966 ]). All this took place at the Mechanics' Institute Chess Club (MICC for short) on August 19th & 20th. Then in later years, I was to meet him once again at the "Lone Pine Chess Tournaments" in 1978 (which he won!) and 1979 (where he placed in a 6-way tie for 5th-10th).>> That's really wonderful. Chessgames encourage everybody to visit the
malthrope chessforum this week.> Many thanks for that one <CG.com> :) I just heard from the heavenly Internet grapevine that Bent is <smiling> too! :D <CG.com: <malthrope: <In addition, wanted to 'thank you' profusely for increasing the kilobytes available in our premium Profiles.>>No problem--I forget if we even announced that change, but the new policy is 8K profiles for free members and 24K profiles for premium members (up from 20K).> Nope, you didn't mention it publicly. However, Jess (aka: <jessicafischerqueen> & <JFQ>) and I did notice it since both our 'Profiles' continually rest on the very <"cusp of oblivion"> kilobyte wise. :P Thanks so much once again! :^)
My Best Always, - Mal

 | | chessgames.com: <thegoodanarchist: Is it possible for a premium member to change his username?
I would like to do that - I have a great one that I like much better.> Sorry, username changing is not possible. For example the posts you have made under your username will always remain with that username. We decided long ago that retroactively changing usernames would make a confused muddle out the old discussions, plus the software is keyed on the username as a key field, so for both policy reasons and technical reason we can't do it. However we'll always help a customer if possible. If you really want to post under a new name, just establish a new free account and email chess@chessgames.com with your new account information we can transfer your premium membership from your current account to the new one. Then you can begin fresh with a new username. |

How about adding a "games of the day" section (or link) to player profile pages so that we can see all such games they have played?> I suppose it's possible although it might be embarrassing for us to illustrate so clearly how many rehashed puns we use ;-) Perhaps all that is required is that the Game of the Day Archive allows you to scan further back than 365 days. |

 | | chessgames.com: <Stonehenge: Can you please upload 'my' draws now? You can remove the short draws I uploaded. I only recently read that you're not interested in those.> We have nothing against short draws, but our software tends to weed them out if they are move-for-move identical to other games in the database. Anyhow, we just ran a substitution command to change <Result "1/2"> into <Result "1/2-1/2"> and reprocessed that particular upload file. 335 games were processed and added. We're still working on some name normalization and other details. |

A superb choice I must say! :XD> Thanks. We found it very satisfying to learn that stubborn computers can't find a way for Black to wriggle out of that mess, in spite of the many possible defensive choices that can be tried. Computers have a way of casting a foggy confusion over brilliancies sometimes, by dredging up some "grim defense" that few humans would ever think of. But this one was solid as a rock. |

 | | chessgames.com: There was an "E Tanoi" (or something like that) that we did merge--are you saying that "Toleafoa Tanoi" is the same person? We are always very careful combining names that might not be the same person, as it's much harder to unmerge than to merge. But if you say Toleafoa Tanoi is Edward Tanoi I'll take your word for it. And I just got an idea for a pun... |
|
Sep-21-10
 | | chessgames.com: Wait--is Tanoi a chessgames member? I noticed he did battle with Richard Taylor. |
|
| Sep-21-10 | | Benzol: <chessgames> <--are you saying that "Toleafoa Tanoi" is the same person?> Yes, I've always known him as Edward Tanoi but Toleafoa is his given name. He is of Samoan decent. <Wait--is Tanoi a chessgames member?> He is aware of this site but I don't think he has registered an account here. He might be one of the lurkers. |
|
| Sep-21-10 | | bharatiy: <chessgames> maybe you want to wait for some time before uploading olympid games. There seems to be confusion about few games. We think now we know about today's Harikrishna's game. Dont think we can rely a lot on official website. Later it will be pain for you to recheck all the games. |
|
| Sep-21-10 | | twinlark: Hi ceegee!
What <bharatiy> said. There does appear to be some confusion in the transmission of information about the games. For example, according to http://chess-results.com/tnr36795.a..., Le Quang Liem won his first round game against FM Khetho Phemelo (ELO 2266) rather than losing to him, while I couldn't find the games by Doug Hamilton and Shaun Press. This is just on a casual once through, there must be many more errors and omissions. |
|
| Sep-21-10 | | rapidcitychess: <chessgames.com> I have noticed that <notyetagm>'s collections are giving certain Gm's notable games, that aren't really notable at all. Is there a way to filter this? |
|
| Sep-21-10 | | rapidcitychess: 'Nother thing.
<false contacto found this:
<This is Grando Zuniga> On this:N Faulks vs Zuniga Julio E Granda, 2010
Hope it helps. |
|
| Sep-21-10 | | twinlark: Ceegee: Sorry. Doug Hamilton is not playing. |
|
| Sep-22-10 | | twinlark: Ceegee
Further confirmation can be found with the official results at http://ugra-chess.com/results.php, which advise Vietnam won 4-0. The games are also posted. The game between Le Quang Liem and Phemelo Khetho is linked to that page and is a brevity in favour of Liem. The game score at Le Quang Liem vs P Khetho, 2010 (also listed under hot games on the front page) is incorrect. |
