Apr-08-11  technical draw: Darn <Dom> you disabled one of my future weapons. Now I'll have to find something else that can and will be used against you in a court of law. Hmm, let's see, when you said "the tournament director (TD) was arrogant" of whom were you actually talking about?

  jessicafischerqueen: Administrators:

I was just informed <TheFocus> has left Cg.com?

I know who he is "in real life"- he's a bona fide published American chess historian whose book on Bobby Fischer will be published within this year.

He was an ornament to your website.

Maybe next time you won't take THREE WEEKS to figure out that it's worth keeping PAYING PREMIUM MEMBERS who add a great deal to your site, and not worth bending over backwards to accomodate a NON PAYING and obviously destructive member such as "lennon fan"?

You really dropped the ball on that one.

Are you trying to run your website into the ground on purpose?

Because that's what it seems like.

Are you even aware of how many long standing premium members of this site have posted this week that they are considering doing the same as <The Focus>, and leaving?

Do you care?

Because lately it seems like you don't.

Apr-09-11  Benzol: <chessgames> Having just been on <technical draw>'s forum I read a post by <jessicafischerqueen> saying that a number of long standing members are thinking of quitting. <The Focus> has apparently left already. His departure is very regrettable. Have people gone mad, did I accidentally injest some mind altering drugs or am I just missing something obvious? What on Earth is going on here?
Apr-09-11  SugarDom: No no no. <Lennon Fan> was just one of the users who irritated <The Focus>. There were 2 others fighting with him. This is not the fault of the admins. Stop blaming and criticizing the admins for your own quarreling, for pete's sake...
Apr-09-11  Greengrass: Yes, I have been looking through the posts in the Naka - Goldsby thread.

It was not <Lennonfan> that caused <TheFocus> to leave. It looks like <shach matov> and <KKDEREK> began continually attacking him after <Lennonfan> was put on probation, as if he (<TheFocus>) was to blame.

I have read through this thread and can clearly see that <shach> was the main one. If anything, <TheFocus> probably left out of disgust.

Perhaps, instead of continuing to fight, <TheFocus> should have reported this to he Administration. Maybe he did. I don't know.

At one point, I see that <shach matov> said that he had stalked after <TheFocus> to <humiliate> him for having pointed out that <SM> was wrong about something.

Sad. This is not the <TheFocus> that I know.

I am still trying to locate <TheFocus>. I have contacted family members of his who are passing on the word that I am searching for him. They would not give me his phone number as they seem to be VERY protective of him.

I was even met with hostility by them until I told them that I had some books he was trying to acquire.

Apr-09-11  achieve: <Benzol: <chessgames> Having just been on <technical draw>'s forum I read a post by <jessicafischerqueen> saying that a number of long standing members are thinking of quitting. <The Focus> has apparently left already. His departure is very regrettable. Have people gone mad> No. People left or consider(ed) leaving because of evaluations they made based on events they experienced and found objectionable or otherwise "annoying." Those decisions were not made overnight, as far as I remember, and are solely individual decisions. Although with one such member who left I briefly had a discussion, as there were a few discussions in a select few other forums.

Where you or members X, Y and Z fit in and weigh in on that decision making process is impossible to say, but there is a feeling of dysproportionality or whatever grievances as worded by JFQ and several others, both recently as well as over the last few/ 12/ 24 months. On various topics.

That's about what on CG's Earth is going on.

Apr-09-11  technical draw: <achieve> Very interesting post. Not that I understood it or anything but the words sound nice.
Apr-09-11  achieve: Are you trying to sound funny or stupid, TD? Both? huh? I sure as stitches wasn't trying to sound nice, so we might have something to work out here. In this case you are both distracting as well as tedious imo. Why did you delete your anwer to me at your forum on this subject, and now this? Maybe I'm missing something "profound and or humorous" in which case I apologize in advancing Knights-behind-center-pawns motion.

Answers, on any of these questions, preferably at my forum, monsieur TeeDee.

Apr-09-11  Open Defence: I hate to say i told ya so <CG> but I did...
Apr-09-11  achieve: PS - I do agree with <TD> however that "chessgames" would do a better job at answering Benzol's post than I did. More understandible too. ;p

My previous post was for the most part tongue in cheek, I can't help myself at times; the ol' sarcasmish bones acting up.

Apr-09-11  achieve: <OD> I think <stony> (stonehenge) beat you to it in the "told you so" department.

Anyways I wish to extend to you and everyone visiting here a very good weekend. Really. ;

(The weather overhere is lovely and sunny btw and I should go out and catch a few rays.)

Stonehenge: Well, I'm back. I mailed the admins about something and they acted immediately. Thanks btw.

Uploading some Giri games atm. Hope I don't have to wait for two months before seeing them in the DB.

Apr-09-11  bartonlaos: <Sugardom>

<Markcf / Lennonfan> was a genuine troll who had trouble relating to others. As <Lennonfan> he was given a final warning on Feb 11, in this forum, and banned on Apr 5. During those two months his trolling never ceased, and even <Ohio Chess Fan>, who never judges others, told him that he should cool it on Mar 24. His trolling was far worse than either <SirBruce> or <steppenwolf>.

<TheFocus> was instrumental in exposing <Markcf / Lennonfan>, who just totally "lost it" in his last few days as he and others reacted to a certain poem. Instead of treating <TheFocus> as a hero, others joined in and continued the fight against him - as if it was entertaining them, or maybe they just didn't understand the situation - so I am in complete agreement with <Greengrass's> assessment.

Domdaniel: Today's London Times chess column by Ray Keene features a game between Mark Finan (aka Lennonfan) and Shredder. The beast was well beaten.

Yesterday, the same paper attacked Bob Dylan for appeasing the Chinese state by dropping 'protest' songs such as The Times They Are a-Changin' from his Chinese live set.

But the Times *are* changing, if Ray allows his column to be infiltrated by, ah, fifth columnists.

And proprietor Rupert Murdoch knows a few tricks when it comes to appeasing the Chinese state.

And Dylan subversively sang *Tweedledum and Tweedledee*, which says all that needs to be said.

OhioChessFan: <Dom: I would never have said "No doubt some TD-ious person will disagree" because, well, it's so wildly improbable.>

There'd be nothing left to live for if you'd sunk to that level. I'd rather see you LOL.

Domdaniel: Speaking of the wildly improbable, in Ireland a 'TD' is a Member of Parliament.
Apr-09-11  technical draw: And a great MP may I add...
Apr-10-11  falso contacto: I think we can manage to respect each other. At times at least?!
Apr-10-11  Greengrass: I talked to <TheFocus> and have to report that he does not think he will return any time soon. And maybe not at all. He just wants to work on his book for now with no distractions.

He also said that he did not leave due to the arguing with <shach> and <KKDEREK>. He considered that to be over when he began putting people on IGNORE.

My job here is done. I only came to find him and send him some books. I won't be posting any more.

<KKDEREK> I really think you are a hypocrite. What you call criticism looks like an attack. He had already put <shach> on Ignore and then you put in your worthless comments. Wanted to get up your ego?

<TheFocus> was one of many to blame in this affair. All parties should have been reported and punished.

I think this site is filled with a lot of adults that allow their juvenile selves to come out. Really sad.

Apr-10-11  SugarDom: <I think this site is filled with a lot of adults that allow their juvenile selves to come out. Really sad.>

It's the same everywhere in the internet.

Apr-10-11  Bureaucrat: I agree with SugarDom. It´s ridiculous when adults join fights, throw insults around, and then complain to the admins. Don´t join a fight if you can´t take some heat.
Apr-10-11  naruto00122: i am not sure if here is the right zone to propose something...

i use ctrl+f to "find" certain PGN variations that people point, but when i do ctrl+f nothing happens...

why? because they added the shortcut to flip the board with exactly ctrl+f

its really annoying =( help do something about this

bye and thanks

Yes, <SugarDom> is right. He's also right that it's like this everywhere on the internet.

My last post on this thread was so angry because the administrators waited so long to take action against <lennon fan>. Way, way too long. He was breaking 3 out of 4 of the guidelines from the get go.

I'd say 4 out of 4.

Isn't libel a criminal offence under US law?

Didn't he publicly defame <domdaniel> by stating that <dom> was a wanted felon?

That said, I'm sorry to see <The Focus> go, but that was his decision- and a very poor one, if he left because of the fighting.

I'd also like to stress that my posts regarding <lennon fan> on this forum never once "complained" that he was attacking me.

I had him on ignore, and still do, so I don't even know if he was attacking me. I don't care if he was.

I made two posts about him prior to yesterday, both based on information and reposts in <domdaniel's> forum about <lennonfan's> libel.

I was, and remain, frustrated that the administrators took so long to identify just how serious a problem <lennonfan> was to this website with his daily flagrant violations of ALL of the posting guidelines.

I got little or no warning when I was suspended- and it happened quickly.

I was suspended with just cause- and I got the message, too.

Suspensions and probation work well as a tool to curb disruptive and flagrant violators of the posting guidelines.

I have no idea why <lennonfan> was given so much rope before he was finally put on probation.

I can assure you I am far from the only person at this website who is angry about that.
