Phony Benoni: You might want to do a quick fix-it job on the Game of the Day, Capablanca vs Tarrasch, 1938. The annotation to the first move makes it clear that Capablanca's opponent was Savielly Tartakower. In all events it could not have been Siegbert Tarrasch. who died in 1934.

chessgames.com: <Phony> yeah sorry about that cockup.

<Blunderdome> Others answered you perfectly correctly, but just to weigh in, <Can I upload my own avatar (family-friendly, and an image I own, of course) or do I have to choose from the gallery?> You can't actually upload one yourself at this time, but if you email us a 48x48 GIF we'll be happy to include it. Then you can go grab it (or if you like, let somebody else use it.)

<I think I recall someone being awarded a life membership for having a certain number of years of continuous membership.> I don't believe we've ever awarded a free life membership, with the exception of a few chess superheroes who use our site (GM Short, Keene, Kamsky, etc.). For you mere mortals the $350 price is currently correct.

Lifetime membership was created not as a smart opportunity to save money, because we've had so many generous benefactors over the years, it seemed like a logical way to offer them some value for a donation. However it might actually be a good investment anyhow, when you factor in inevitable rate increases.

Feb-09-12  LIFE Master AJ: I just played "Guess-The-Move." (Johner-Capa, like 1939 - I think.) I scored like 117, I guess. (I navigated away from the page, but could not get back.)

I typed in (6.) "...Nc6" and much later, "NxP/h2." In both instances, this was the CORRECT move, however, since I used the wrong format, I did not get credit for the overall score.

Any way to fix this?

Feb-09-12  LIFE Master AJ: BTW, I took over half-an-hour, for me, this is a lot of time.
Feb-09-12  Knight13: <chessgames.com> Did you receive my email?
Feb-09-12  achieve: <Any way to fix this?> Type it in the format you know is requested. Why don't you?

<LIFE Master AJ: BTW, I took over half-an-hour, for me, this is a lot of time.> Perhaps you could try and get off your slow-running, err, clock?, I mean, 'High Horse'.

Feb-09-12  Robed.Bishop: I'll guess the move now: AJ puts achieve on ignore.

48 half-hours in every day of your life.

Yeah, down from that altitudinous equine.

Feb-10-12  dakgootje: I'm sorry - but I have to correct you there dom.

A horse is not a dodo.

For starters, a horse tastes much better.

Chnebelgrind: <chessgames.com> there is something going wrong in chessbookie game. It is pointed out at chessbokie forum, but up to now is not noticed by the <bookie>, Could you please clear up the matter? Thanks.
Feb-10-12  dakgootje: Moreover - it has been almost 7 hours since the over I set for SQ hit, so by delaying the fix, you make my prediction skills look bad.

Domdaniel: I understood they went extinct because they were friendly, innocent and peacable ... so Dutch sailors (among others) found them a useful food source. Easily clubbed, shot, speared and fricasseed. Recipes include Dodo Kiev and Kentucky Fried Dodo.

Horses put up more resistance. But dodo (an extinct flightless bird native to Mauritius) and dada (a hobby horse) are easily confused.

... ... ... why are you still spoiling for a fight ... after all this time?

Feb-11-12  brankat: There is hardly ever a boring moment at this site. Congrats CG!
Feb-11-12  achieve: <A>

Well, with you on your faithful
stallion Altudinos Equinos III,
and me on my high horse
with a brand-new saddle I must proudly insert,
we could be in for a smashing ride,
essentially Spoiling the Fight.
