 | | Peligroso Patzer: <Chessgames>: In the thread linked below there are some posts on page 19 (and possibly also on immediately preceding pages; the ones on page 19 are what I have noticed at this time) that should be reviewed for deletion. To my mind those posts are a desecration of a marvelous game. Fischer vs Spassky, 1972 |

The benefits of using the approved channels are numerous: it helps the admins focus on the specific posts of concern, it allows members to express their opinions anonymously, and it prevents this forum from being clogged with routine complaints. |

 | | chessgames.com: Often on days like today, with high-profile chess events taking place, we get a number of emails from people who are having problems signing into their account. Let me say that the best way to gain access to your account is to first use our Password Recovery Page. So before all else, give that page a try. Nevertheless, that system doesn't always work, or works too slowly to be of use. If you still have problems please write chess@chessgames.com and we'll help you as soon as we can. And thanks for supporting Chessgames.com! |

 | | Peligroso Patzer: <CG>: Thank you for bringing to my attention the "Whistle" function, on which I will need to inform myself. On a separate point, your live coverage page of today’s Game #1 of the WCC (Live Broadcast Page) included an “Official Site” link that connected to this page:
http://www.anand-gelfand.com/
FWIW, I believe the actual official site is this one:

 | | chessgames.com: <1619 users online atm, is that a record?> We've exceeded 2000 before and I bet we will again before the WCC is over. <FWIW, I believe the actual official site is this one: http://moscow2012.fide.com/en/> Actually they are both "official sites." A few weeks back the fide.com site was next to useless, while anand-gelfand.com was shaping up nicely. Now it seems their roles have reversed. Anyhow, thanks for pointing that out, we want to provide the most useful links. |

 | | Annie K.: <cg> mobile version is terrific! =) I just moved to a new apartment and won't have net access on my PC for several days yet. Heckuva time to be stuck with just an iPhone, with a WCC match going on... :( But the new mobile-friendly look is a great help. Thanks! |

 | | chessgames.com: Great, we're glad to hear you like the mobile version! We were hoping on having it perfected last month and make an announcement in time for the WCC, but you know how we're forever scrambling at the last minute :) Anyhow, better late than never, right? For those who don't know what we're talking about, the Live Broadcast Page is now "enhanced for mobile devices" -- which means simply that if you access it from an iPhone, Android, etc. you'll get a special simplified version that is designed to look good on mobile computing platforms. |

Hmm, any chance you'll try applying this mobile-friendly layout to the GTM interface next? ;) |

 | | chessgames.com: Oops, thanks hms. We changed our mind about what game to cover. <Mobile GTM> is a great idea. If we made an app it might outsell Angry Birds ;-) |

 | | Sneaky: The mobile live-game feature is positively brilliant. I was out shopping yesterday checking my phone every 15 seconds. You've turned me into one of those cell phone obsessed nerds I've previously mocked! |

 | | OhioChessFan: 1. Why do I see a different picture of Gata Kamsky on the last 2 pages of his player page than the first 128? 2. Shouldn't his profile mention his user name DarkNolan? 3. Unrelated to Kamsky, I understand giving players the right to delete posts on their player page. I also understand being on ignore and therefore not able to post on a kibitizer's forum. But I have a problem with being unable to post on that player page to begin with. |

 | | chessgames.com: <OhioChessFan: 1. Why do I see a different picture of Gata Kamsky on the last 2 pages of his player page than the first 128?> If you must know, it's a bit of a story. A long time ago we had a "feature" so that multiple photos of a player could randomly be chosen when loading a page. At first we thought it was a cute way of showing off multiple photos of players. We ended up rejecting this method, since people love to talk about the photo, and the randomness foils those efforts. Plus it made people reload player pages incessantly, which should be a clue that you've engineered the site wrong. So we removed the dual-photo players... or so we though. A few players with two or more photos may still exist, although we tried to get them all. Thanks for pointing out the fact that Kamsky is a one of the remaining multi-photo players. I think the one without the baseball cap is the one we prefer, but it's a tough choice. <2. Shouldn't his profile mention his user name DarkNolan?> Sure, that would be a great idea. <3. Unrelated to Kamsky, I understand giving players the right to delete posts on their player page. I also understand being on ignore and therefore not able to post on a kibitizer's forum. But I have a problem with being unable to post on that player page to begin with.> I'm sorry I'm a bit confused with what you're asking. Under what circumstances would you be unable to post on a player page to begin with? Possibly one of the GMs placed you on ignore, before you even made a post, but that seems quite unlikely. If you prefer you can email us at chess@chessgames.com and go over the details there. |

 | | OhioChessFan: <Possibly one of the GMs placed you on ignore, before you even made a post, but that seems quite unlikely.> Well, it's not a cough cough <G>M, and yes, they have me on ignore before making a post. That will teach me to compose a post defending them. Regardless, in general, don't you think there's a big difference between prohibiting a person from kibitzing to a chessforum and to a player page? At the moment, being on ignore does prohibit you from posting on that player/member's page. |
