  chessgames.com: <Meet Me in St. Louis> I love it.

<Asian Team Championship> Great. When it rains it pours in the chess world.

<hms123> LOL, that's funny. Anyhow, point is well taken: it's no longer a beta-feature, and it should be a real page and not just a post.

May-19-12  tolengoy: Also, can you update his picture to a more recent one?

Here's some nice pixs to choose from:

A: This forum is not meant for a long, lugubrious dissertation on <Wesley So>. You'd do better to stick all that on his player page.

B: You're too cheap even to buy a membership, so by what logic do you feel so entitled to "snappy service" from the webmasters? Especially when you speak so rudely to them?

OhioChessFan: <tolen> just be patient. The people who volunteer their time and effort to write the bios are the unsung heroes of this site. As one example, take a look at the recently updated Euwe bio, and consider how much information is contained therein. The bio writers are pretty meticulous in their fact checking, with little to show for their efforts except to make this site and the game of chess a more accessible and educational experience. After they spend how much time writing the bios, they still have to deal with nitpickers like me who split semantical and historical hairs to try to improve their work. It all seems to work out in the end.

In general, I do agree about the bio pic, and the blitz references on So's page.

May-19-12  tolengoy: Thanks <ohiochessfan>, on that note, I rest my case.

Domdaniel: <tolengoy> Your suggested addition to the Wesley So biog would not 'improve the site' ... it's much too long and far too subjective to be taken seriously.

Sure, he's a strong player who has had some fine achievements at an early age. But he's not the only one.

If you think language like <This year however, he would not be denied his majestic and lofty standing as he finished sole first place..leaving other pretenders way behind gasping for breath...> is appropriate in a CG player bio - rather than in a gushing poem to a hero - maybe you should reconsider your priorities?

Biogs need to be reasonably concise (no need to mention everything) and reasonably objective (no fan stuff). If you use that kind of hyperbole about So, what's left to say about genuine greats such as Kasparov, Fischer, Tal and Anand?

May-19-12  tolengoy: <domdaniel> as I've said, what I submitted was only materials for <CG> to help them come up with an appropriate addendum to Wesley's profile that would recognize his BLITZ prowess and exploits.

Twas subject to pruning as they see fit after all.

A short and concise paragraph would do.

The bottom line is that this Wes' earned distinctions need to be see the light of day- its sparkle to be seen thousand miles away. It should not be relegated to the background...gathering dusts and rusts in a dilapidated attic in an abandoned mansion in a closed alley cloaked under a storm of chilling snow in a spooky ghostown waiting for inevitable oblivion.

NMArtidiello: Dear chessfriends, I am part owner of chessgames.com and even though I love this website, financial reasons have forced me to take the following action. I am selling twenty five percent (25%) of the website. I am asking for the very modest price of 50,000 U.S. dollars. For financial records of the site and a more exact explanation of what exactly 25 percent ownership will mean to you, please write me at checkersandchess @yahoo.com. It is necessary for you to include your phone number in your email. Thank you for your attention and I am looking forward to talking with you.

jessicafischerqueen: Well it's a good job "tolengoy" doesn't have $50,000 US.

We know because he doesn't have $29 US.

Maybe he could swing it if he raised the money from all the best friends listed in his profile:

User: tolengoy

<User: nielyoung

User: billy da kid

User: soso

User: breast

User: atty.no.case

User: bigatin

User: Dolphy

User: panchito

User: pirotmata

User: pacsofan

User: kid.nap.per

User: expat

User: Mr. Slim

User: matebay>

Oh wait, all those "members" are joke accounts and sockpuppets who also don't have $29 US.

So I guess 25% of the new Chessgames.com won't be comprised of paeons to <Wesley So> written in the idiom of a 10th century Persian Court bootlicker.

Well we can't have everything.

Back on planet earth, I'm sure Daniel will post soon on this and assure us all that things will be OK.

In the meantime, I advise all to save any data from this website you'd care to keep. Games collections and even entire websites have a way of "disappearing suddenly," which is one reason why Liberries still have lasting value.

chessgames.com: I was about to move all of <tolengoy>'s emphatic posts to the Biographer Bistro where it would be more relevant. He obviously understands that we do not write the biographies, so why he is petitioning us here is a bit unclear.

<Alberto A Artidiello Seems legit...> Yes that is a legitimate post or we wouldn't let it stay here. For more information contact the email indicated.

<Daniel, I hope you will keep control of the site.> I am a majority owner and not interested in selling! So no, I'm not going anywhere. Thanks for asking.

May-20-12  tolengoy: <I was about to move all of <tolengoy>'s emphatic posts to the Biographer Bistro where it would be more relevant.>

Please do. I can only hope for the best.

<He obviously understands that we do not write the biographies, so why he is petitioning us here is a bit unclear.>

And what is my assurance that my plea be given due course and hearing? Who comprises this Biographer Bistro? Are they the same brigands who orchestrated the infamous election fraud in the bogus Caisser awards? Or are they in anyway affiliated to self proclaimed Bobby's widower and queen who got none of Fischer's estate..(else she'll be buying the offered 25% minority share). If so, I chose to submit my appeal directly to <Daniel Freeman>- the only trace of justice left in this chess community gone pfft and awry...he alone is my true saviour and knight in shining armour.

Domdaniel: Yes, the offer was clearly legit, for a whole bunch of reasons. Such as this post here (by <chessgames.com>) about two months ago: <One of the owners may be interested in diversifying if the price was right.>

Good to see matters clarified. I don't seem to have an otherwise unemployed 50 grand at the moment, but if one turns up I'll be in touch.

  Domdaniel: <Jess> -- <idiom of a 10th century Persian court bootlicker>

Heh, that's good. When a boot was licked in the Persian court, it *stayed* licked.

But if I may ramble on a century or so to the time of my fellow polymath, Omar Khayyam, I'm tempted to have a go at <The Rubaiyat of Omar the Pawn> ...

The moving finger lights upon a Pawn
Over-protecting, like a fretful Faun
Who watches over Shepherds in its care
And keeps them safe until the Sac of Dawn.
