| May-20-12 | | eightbyeight: Just like the current speech bubble for kibitzing and pencil for annotations, there should be some kind of icon that indicates a game is playable with Guess-the-Move. |

 | | Annie K.: <Daniel: <I am a majority owner and not interested in selling! So no, I'm not going anywhere. Thanks for asking.>> As <Jess> was saying, it's wonderful to have that confirmed. You *are* chessgames.com, it wouldn't be nearly as great a site with anyone else at the helm. :) Sorry to see Albert go, though. You seem to have gotten along well together. I hope things work out for him too. |

<<I was about to move all of <tolengoy>'s emphatic posts to the Biographer Bistro where it would be more relevant.> Please do. I can only hope for the best.> Tolengoy, I moved your initial very long post on the subject which I think states your case very coherently. Then I deleted the bickering that was just taking up space here. Please move the productive portion of this discussion to the Biographer Bistro where it can be better handled. I can see how Wesley's biography may seem lacking to you, but I assure you it's not due to an anti-So conspiracy. Take a look at the brief biography of Anatoli Karpov; I'm sure that's not because those "hoodlums" at the Bistro secretly hate Karpov. It's just a simple question of the enormous work to be done divided by the volunteers who bravely have offered to do it. And sure enough, work gets done, and at an impressive pace. So as OhioChessFan said "just be patient" and don't think that your suggestions are ignored. Thanks. |

 | | chessgames.com: Karpova, we're just getting to them now. I'm so sorry for putting you on hold; I'm sure you can imagine things have been so hectic between Moscow and St. Louis. Those "joint analysis" games between Akiba and Samy Rubinstein are especially interesting. As they are not proper games we are going to put them aside temporarily to decide how to best handle them. |
|
| May-21-12 | | Karpova: yes, for sure. I was taking this into account.
Philipp Stamma compositions were uploaded as usual games. |

 | | chessgames.com: Karpova, while I've got your attention, this J Dunkelblum who beat Rubinstein, could this be another name for Arthur Dunkelblum? |
|
| May-21-12 | | Karpova: no, this is most likely arthur's father. arthur was apparently also present at that exhibition. |
|
| May-21-12 | | Karpova: Thanks for uploading the games - I will go to work so to speak tomorrow. Like in that J Dunkelblum case the names should all be correct except for obvious spelling mistakes (which are hopefully not present). |

| May-21-12 | | MarkFinan: <Chessgames> The CJA have just announced that Daniel Freeman will be taking up a position with them as their webmaster??? So will there be big changes round here? Iv'e no reason to doubt Daniel's word when he says he's staying put, but I hope he has a say In who actually buys 25% of this site, otherwise..... Well Imagine If 'certain people' do find the money, this place could turn Into a dictatorship!! |

| May-21-12 | | GreenLantern: <MarkFinan: <Chessgames> The CJA have just announced that Daniel Freeman will be taking up a position with them as their webmaster???> I saw that too http://chessjournalism.org/index.htm but I wouldn't worry. The CJA website looks like straightforward html (as opposed to the perl programming he does for chessgames). Daniel can do html in his sleep. |
|
| May-21-12 | | MarkFinan: <Wannabe> Well nobodys mentioned It thus far, or have they? <GreenLantern> Thanks, but still two high pressure jobs I guess! |

You gonna love it. :D) |

 | | chessgames.com: Daniel volunteered his web skills to give the CJA website (http://chessjournalism.org/) a much needed makeover. <So will there be big changes round here?> No sir, this is not a Chessgames-related project and won't have any impact on Chessgames in any way. It will, hopefully, have a positive impact on the CJA. |

| May-23-12 | | tolengoy: <May-23-12 voratco: chessgames.com chessforum. The request is still there but there is no answer from the admin. I don't know if it was an oversight but it was not moved to the bisto pages where the admin decided it should to be since it is not a user support issue. May-23-12 twinlark: Changing player photos is definitely a user support issue. It may been overlooked with all that has been happening so a polite reminder might work.> Daniel, can you assist as on this one last request. The Wesley So page would be forever in debt- will deem it so great a favor that Philippines foreign debt with the World Bank would be appear to be a miniscule problem. |

 | | Stonehenge: 1. < Stonehenge: <CG> Can you also add 'most users online' or something to the Statistics Page? May-17-12
chessgames.com: <most users online> Sounds like a fun idea!> I can't find it anywhere. Almost 2,000 users online atm :) 2. <SEARCH OVER 634,000 CHESS GAMES> Perhaps you can write <SEARCH OVER X PLAYERS> next to it. |

| May-23-12 | | twinlark: Hi <ceegee>
I'd like to draw your attention to the 10th incarnation of the Young Stars tournament that's just wound up in Russia, in which a dozen young players from 7 countries engaged in a round robin contest. The reason I mention this is that some of these players are amongst the likeliest of the up-and-coming players. In particular, the top rated U14 in the world, Vladislav Artemiev (http://ratings.fide.com/card.phtml?...), has no games in the database where many lesser players are included. He's one of the class of '98 most likely to be a GM sometime soon. In fact, he won this tourney and was one of its youngest participants. All the youngsters bar one are rated over 2200 (half of them over 2400, and one is over 2500). The PGNs - if you're interested in including some or all of these games - can be accessed through the menu on the left: http://translate.google.com.au/tran.... Also, <tolengoy> is referring to this request: chessgames.com chessforum |

|
| May-24-12 | | tolengoy: Thanks <chessgames> for the new Wes picture in the Wesley So page. My sixth sense has told me Wes' static performance curve may be partly due to his picture not undergoing a revamp. The above picture showing him arranging the chess pieces prior a showdown at the 2011 world cup is a more than fitting replacement of the old picture which featured him at a much younger age. Henceforth, it's going to be an uphill climb, the long trek in the desert has led him to the base of Mount Everest where he will begin his unstoppable ascent to the top of the chess ladder. |

| May-24-12 | | tolengoy: Thanks again <twinlark>...without your endorsement, CG would have taken forever to hear our plea...You're the man..hidden behind a cute, intelligent puppy. |
|
| May-24-12 | | twinlark: <tolengoy>
<without your endorsement, CG would have taken forever to hear our plea> On the contrary, I'm sure they would have replaced the photo expeditiously once they received your polite request. I posted the message, not as a back up or endorsement, but with a link to your earlier message which in turn had the links to the photo selection, so that they could find your request immediately, rather than having to search through the pages. |

without your endorsement, CG would have taken forever to hear our plea On the contrary, I'm sure they would have replaced the photo expeditiously once they received your polite request.> I doubt it very much. My friend <matebay> wrote Santa during New Year's eve and made a wish. With no response, he followed up his pleadings on this page: <Jan-06-12 matebay: Hey Boss.. Checking on my christmas wish...its so petty and benign I am at a loss why you would not grant it. I even posted it on the Santa page for divine intervention.<Dear Santa,
Belated Merry Xmas and Happy New Year.
Although a bit late, I hope you grant my xmas wish.
My xmas wish is CG to change Wesley So's picture in the Wesley So page from http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_5w1dzhZ0h... to http://philboxing.com/news/pix/wesl... He will be studying in Texas soon and will be a campus heartthrob.> http://chessgames.com/~chessgames.c...
And this is my third follow up. Is that a way to treat a loyal servant?> Close to six months had passed and still no action.
Then here comes <twinlark>.. One short sentence and viola...the genie grants his wish. |
