| Mar-19-13 | | twinlark: Hi <ceegee>
Hope you can add the HD Bank tournament and games. It's being held in Ho Chi Minh City and has 24 GMs and 21 IMs, including Le, Berkes, Yu and Wei. I can't find the PGN for the games, so here are the official and results pages in case you know where to look that I've missed: http://chess.hdbank.com.vn/index.ph... and http://chess-results.com/tnr95133.a.... The live games page is here: http://vietnamchess.vn/index.php?op... |

 | | Eggman: <chessgames> Just wanted to let you know that there has been a slight error the last two times you broadcast a live game. Your 'live video feed' link was linking not to the then-current round, but to the previous round. So when you were broadcasting a game in round 5, you were linking to the live video from round 4, and when you were broadcasting a game from round 6, you were linking to the live video from round 5. |

 | | chessgames.com: Eggman, yes you are absolutely right. They way they have it set up, with round-by-round archiving and everything, we have to remember to manually change that URL every single day. Anyhow, thanks for your note. |

 | | Eggman: I uploaded a game in October of last year between Fred Wilson and Walter Browne. I also give the moves of the game in a post here: Walter Shawn Browne. But I still don't see the game in the database. Should it take this long to upload? |

 | | chessgames.com: Hi Eggman:
Looking over that game I see an admin put it on hold because they believed there was too much analysis in the PGN, and for that reason alone it needed to be reviewed before uploaded. Upon closer inspection I see that the analysis is actually part of the explanation you included at the end and not part of the game proper. In summary, first of all the game is here:
Fred Wilson vs Browne, 1963
Second, we apologize for putting this one on the "to be examined" list when it really was fine to begin with, and we're sorry you had to wait so long. Finally here are the notes you included, perhaps you want to post them on the game page: <This is the first game given in Walter Browne's new autobiographical games
collection "The Stress of Chess." It is of interest because the game was
adjudicated a draw by none other than Bobby Fischer (if the scores of any
other games ever adjudicated by Fischer exist, I am unaware of it). Browne
claims to have concluded "beyond the shadow of a doubt" that Fischer was
wrong, and that in fact the ending is a win for Black (Browne). Browne's
analysis is given in the book as follows: 52.Kf1 (52.Ke1 h5 53.Kf1 h4 54.h3
Ke4 55.Re8 Rxa7 56.Rxe6+ Kf5 57.Re8 Ra1+ 58.Ke2 Ra2+ 59.Kf1 Rf2+ 60.Kg1 f3

 | | chessgames.com: <HD Bank tournament> An excellent tournament, we're sorry we don't have the games yet. We're going to try to get the PGN shortly. (It will take some finesse to automate the fetching of the PGN due to that particular web app they use.) |

| Mar-25-13 | | joe1137: Chessgames.com:
Grischuk v. Ivanchuk, Candidates 2013 should perhaps be a GOTD with name "Zeitnot." Two of the "leaders" in time trouble, both were in time trouble in the game, and Chucky lost on time for the third time in the tournament in a possibly salvageable position. The game is a monument to Zeitnot. |
|
| Mar-25-13 | | Jim Bartle: Or perhaps "Zeit? Not!" |

| Mar-27-13 | | TheFocus: <chessgames.com> I and others have submitted games that for some reason or another fell through the cracks. In my case, I have made errors in my submissions that caused me to have to re-submit them after making corrections. Ex: bb7 instead of Bb7, or Nd5 when it should have been Ncd5. Is there a feature where I can input my moves on a board and then print out a PGN that I can then paste at the Game Submissions page? I know that I can view the PGN for any game already in the site, but this way I could input directly from books and magazines. It seems that submissions would then be error free.
Of course, this feature may already be available, but I am just not smart enough to find it. |

 | | Phony Benoni: <chessgames.com>: There are now nearly 400 Historical Tournament Pages, representing nearly 35,000 games. However, the pace has slowed down significantly lately, because most of the existing collections with full information (round, dates) have been updated. There are around 300 additional tournament collections listed here: Game Collection: Historical Tournaments 3: To be Updated Which, for the most part, have round numbers available but no dates. Generally, we have been holding off on nominating these, hoping the necessary information would show up. It's becoming apparent that is not going to happen soon, or without much additional work. Would it be a best to go ahead and send such collections through, even without date information? |
|
Mar-27-13
 | | WannaBe: Get a time machine and fill in the missing info. |
|
Mar-27-13
 | | Phony Benoni: <WannaBe> That might be the only way.. Unfortunately, none of the Game Editors own a Delorean. |
|
| Mar-27-13 | | TheFocus: <none of the Game Editors own a Delorean.> I dated a girl named Dolores, but I don't think that would help. She didn't know much about chess anyway. |

Mar-28-13
 | | chessgames.com: <Would it be a best to go ahead and send such collections through, even without date information?> That's fine by us; there isn't much else you can do. The most annoying aspect of the situation is that even if you have accurate round information, without the dates the software still won't sort the game list chronologically. However that could be fixed. |
