| May-18-13 | | The Last Straw: <LIFE Master AJ> Calm down! Chessgames.com has many people to take care of, not only you. We can't keep on having you on first priority. Just be patient, your games will be uploaded if they are accepted. I have a few games I submitted in 2012 or so, and they've still not been uploaded yet. And did I make a very huge fuss about it? Not at all. Calm down, relax, and just wait. Also, for those correction slips, submit another one for your game against Patrick Ballard. In the future, also be more clear for requests and make sure chessgames.com knows what you mean. Try it for a while, and if it doesn't work and you are still disappointed with this site, then just leave. If you would like something to do for a while, browse around the game collections or something like that. Let's see how it works out. |

| May-20-13 | | Robed.Bishop: <The Last Straw> I think we can safely say that CG hasn't reached the last straw... |
| May-20-13 | | TheFocus: Yes, the Admins have showed a lot of restraint. |
| May-20-13 | | crawfb5: I think the administrators <need> a lot of restraints to deal with some people here. |

| May-25-13 | | tjipa: Thanks to a tip of another user, I think this might be the right place to re-place my following consideration! - 'I did not find a way how to put an overall website comment in, so I put it in here, in today's stuff, - I read quite a lot of threads and there is a lot of good thoughts and ideas and a lot of emotions, often of the sour type, so I have often missed the option to LIKE something (like in F-book) or even both - a thumbs down option, too, like in many other places. I am not absolutely sure about the latter, but the fact that I would like to have a LIKE option - that is for sure!' Thank you! |

| May-25-13 | | The Last Straw: <tjipa> No, sorry, that's a feature only for premium members. |

 | | chessgames.com: <tjipa>
Last Straw is surely referring to our "favorites" feature (see Premium Membership Help Page) but that's not a Facebook-style "like" button; it's a way to designate a certain user as one of your favorites. It's vaguely like following somebody on Twitter: you can see their posts more easily. The idea of upvoting/downvoting posts has come up from time to time. It's not necessarily a bad idea but it's unclear exactly what we'd use it for. We could have a "kibitz of day" type feature, but beyond that, it's hard to say. |
| May-26-13 | | DrNyet: Could be an interesting addition to the ChessGames.com Statistics Page: a listing of the members with the most Buddies (and perhaps those most Ignored - the winner receiving the Life Master xx award :) ). Individual posts could also receive a like and there could be a list of scored posts (and hopefully a running history maintained). Maybe a list of posts with the most all time Likes, and recent Most Liked. The Likes sounds like a serious programming chore though. |

| May-26-13 | | The Last Straw: <chessgames.com> If I wanted to purchase a 3-month premium membership (summer, I have more time, guys), how much would that cost? |
| May-27-13 | | DrNyet: There is a player page listing five games of Selby Anderson, a master and organizer prominent in Texas, but I don't believe he's listed in the Player Directory. Is this an anomaly? |
May-27-13
 | | SwitchingQuylthulg: <DrNyet> Many players - most of them, in fact - aren't listed in the Player Directory; it isn't meant to be a complete list of all players in the database. The logic behind the Player Directory has been changed several times. Originally it was a rather random-looking mess I couldn't make any sense of, then for several years it was a list of all players with at least N games (N being around 1 game in every 30,000), and recently it was changed again. (It seems everyone now has at least 18 games, but I'm not sure if every player with that many games is listed.) |

 | | chessgames.com: <DrNyet: Could be an interesting addition to the ChessGames.com Statistics Page: a listing of the members with the most Buddies> We have an admin page like that, and a similar page that shows people who are most ignored. (Ironically, some people are on both lists.) We don't like to publish that information because we fear it would turn into a kind of contest. To further complicate matters, who you choose to put on your favorite list is intended to be confidential information. So publishing it, even in aggregate, might go against that policy. <I don't believe he's listed in the Player Directory. Is this an anomaly?> Switching explained it pretty well: Player Directory was never intended to be a full list--it's main function is to help you find a player like in a telephone book, even if you can't spell their name. For people like Selby the search engine should work fine. The criteria for inclusion in the directory is too complicated for any one person to remember. The formula is a stew of variables including their rating, how many games we have, when they were born, and even the amount of kibitzing on their page. |

 | | chessgames.com: <The Last Straw> <a 3-month premium membership> We don't offer that as an option but I sent you an email on the subject which suggests a good compromise. |

 | | OhioChessFan: <We have an admin page like that, and a similar page that shows people who are most ignored. (Ironically, some people are on both lists.) We don't like to publish that information because we fear it would turn into a kind of contest.> Come on. You can't toss out that bit about being on both lists and not give a few names. |
| May-27-13 | | Gregor Samsa Mendel: Not sharing info on which pages get the most kibitizing could have spared this site a lot of grief a few years back. Just saying. |
May-28-13
 | | chessgames.com: <Gregor> That's a good point. In retrospect we wish the ChessGames.com Statistics Page never even had a "most kibitzing" list, although removing it now is a bit like closing the door once the horse has bolted. <Ohio> We don't want to hurt anybody's feelings by informing them that they are being ignored by scores of members. Just think of posters who have a unique style of prose that you might describe as an "acquired taste." |

| May-28-13 | | dakgootje: <The formula is a stew of variables including their rating, how many games we have, when they were born, and even the amount of kibitzing on their page.> but but.. that's my patented formula for winning at the chessbookie game! |

May-28-13
 | | WannaBe: <dak> No, I think that's <technical draw>'s secret pick-3 formula. Or is that Coca-Cola's? Maybe it's Col. Sander's Kentucky Fried Chicken formula. |
| May-28-13 | | dakgootje: TD bought the exclusive rights to use my formula for $20 - which I still haven't received.. |
| May-29-13 | | The Last Straw: The opening explorer after 1.a4 is all wrong. Under Recent, there is no Zhao Xue-Medvegy game in the database. Also there is a Carlsen-Radjabov game from 2012 which would fit under there. |
| May-30-13 | | shivasuri4: <The Last Straw>, the Zhao Xue - N Medvegy game is not only in the database, but also in the Recent Games list. I doubt we'd be seeing different things for an opening listed only 10 times here. The Carlsen - Radjabov game can be seen as one of the 5 games after 1...e5. Perhaps the Recent Game feature doesn't necessarily indicate the most recent game. |
| May-30-13 | | The Last Straw: <shivasuri4> I clicked on the Zhao Xue-N Medvegy link and I get some "Bad Game ID" notice. Could you try this and see if it works on your browser? Thanks! |
| May-31-13 | | shivasuri4: Yes, I see the same notice. You were right; there's something wrong with the Opening Explorer for a4. |
