Jun-25-13  Shams: <cg> I would hope that rudely insulting one of the few GMs that deigns to visit this site (GM Short in the case of a post a few minutes ago) would warrant something more than merely having the post removed. Please just pull the trigger and ban this troll, I entreat you.
Jun-25-13  MarkFinan: Shams,
please use the whistle function to complain about other users, this is not the page to make such demands or requests as you just have.. It says so at the top of this page ;)

chessgames.com: <brankat: <CG.com> <Daniel Freeman> I was about to send You an e-mail, but somehow I got nowhere with that <Evolution> screen. So, how do I go about it? Thank You.> Evolution screen? I'm sorry I don't know what that is. I imagine it's some email client that I'm not familiar with.

I did send you an email recently, not sure if you got it--please do find a way to email chess@chessgames.com as there's something I want to discuss.

66th Russian Championship Higher League (2013) ;D

Many thanks!

Jun-25-13  MarkFinan: Is there any chance you can tell me who paid for my premium membership so i can thank them? Even be email?

chessgames.com: Mark, I'll be honest: out of curiosity I looked, and still I have no idea who it was. What I mean is, it's not a name that's appeared on a credit card in the past. You have a mysterious benefactor like in "Great Expectations" :-)
Jun-25-13  brankat: <chessgames.com> <Daniel Freeman>

I just sent You an e-mail.

As for the "Evolution Screen" I mentioned in the previous post, it is a pop-up titled "Evolution setup assistant" which appeared (and is still there) when I tried to use <Contact us> and <Premium Membership> items from the main menu.

If I was to go "Forward" then the next few screens would, apparently, enable the software to "connect to my e-mail accounts" and "import files". So, instead of "forward" button I chose "Cancel" one.

chessgames.com: <whiteshark> We do happen to have Ukrainian Championship (2013) although it's not on the homepage yet. I'm a little unclear about why you pointed to the higher league page?

chessgames.com: <brankrat> OK, I understand what happened. You use a mail client that is well configured and you are comfortable with. Unfortunately your web browser is set up to trigger an entirely different mail client ("Evolution") if you should click on an email link. (A common situation, I think I have a computer that does that.)

It's not particularly important because it's very rare when people click on email links anyhow, and you can always copy the email address and paste it directly into your mail software.

Jun-26-13  The Last Straw: Hello chessgames.com:

Who is this new Rodney PPerez Garcia who showed up in the Edmonton International 2013?

chessgames.com: That's what happens when we receive typos in PGN. Or at least, typos we've never seen before. Have no fear: the CG Librarian is on it.
Jun-27-13  brankat: <MarkFinan> How about <q.c>, or <SugarD.>, possibly even "100-accounts"<tolengoy> :-)

But, seriously, I'd bet on either <tipsy> or <jess>.

Either way, You might as well just forget about it, as long as You remember that there are a many, many good people around here. A few rotten apples, in this case, are not going to spoil the barrel.

Jun-29-13  Thanh Phan: <dr msycho> He was reminded about the <See something which violates our rules? Blow the whistle and inform an administrator.> function regarding the times he saw posting guideline violations.

That he chosed to reciprocate with his own violations doesn't make his kibitz justified, it merely provided others with reasons to use the Blow the whistle function

FSR: Three days ago I uploaded a game to this site. I posted a copy of it on my forum. Alas, <perfidious> pointed out a rather significant error. Here is the game as I submitted it:

<[Event "Milan CBA"]
[Site "Milan, Italy"]
[Date "2004.05.21"]
[EventDate "2004.05.??"]
[Round "8"]
[Result "1/2-1/2"]
[White "Valenti, Giuseppe"]
[Black "Steinitz, Wilhelm"]
[ECO "C67"]
[WhiteElo "2292"]
[BlackElo "2360"]

1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.Bb5 Nf6 4.O-O Nxe4 5.Re1 Nd6 6.Nxe5 Nxe5 7.Rxe5+ Be7 8.Nc3 Nxb5 9.Nd5 Kf8 10.Nxe7 d6 11.Rxb5 Qxe7 12.Rb3 Bg4 13.f3 Bf5 14.Re3 Qf6 15.Rb1 h5 16.b3 h4 17.Bb2 Qg5 18.Qe2 Rh6 19.Re1 Bd7 20.Re4 a5 21.a4 Re6 22.Rxe6 Bxe6 23.Qe3 Qxe3+ 24.Rxe3 Bf5 25.d3 f6 1/2-1/2>

Black was of course <not> "Steinitz, Wilhelm," as I had it, but "Lanzani, Mario." Sorry about that. Could you please correct that when you review the game? Thanks!

Domdaniel: <ascendhard.a> has been acting like a psycho ... I haven't personally interacted with this user, but I've seen the evidence, and it isn't pretty.

Meanwhile, a small tip. From kibitzes on a game page, it seems that several people had a problem with playing thru game scores -- when the right-hand half of the gamescore would be invisible. This can be fixed by resetting the scale to 100%.

Jun-30-13  Marvol: <CG.com> What's the story with the Geneva tournament? Me and at least one other person can only see one group and the games from that group (Kramnik, Shak, et al.).

I tried switching crosstabel views but that doesn't change a thing. Any thoughts?

chessgames.com: <Marvol> We're sorry, we were accidentally downloading only one of the two groups and none of the final. We should have all of the games online now.
