Domdaniel: <Mark> Very true. These things always seem to end up being more complicated than anticipated. BTW -- on the subject of your latest revelations (which we're not supposed to talk about here anymore) -- can I just say that you were wrong before, when you made accusations about me? Long since forgiven, of course, but maybe you could keep it in mind before targeting others?

Domdaniel: <Kinghunt> Yes, the person you mention is very unlikely to apologize or recant or offer any kind of explanation. So ignoring may well be best ... but doesn't old-fashioned ignoring (ie, "A <tolengoy> post -- right, I'll ignore it") work as well as anything?
Sep-16-13  notyetagm: <CG.COM>

Can we please have a forum for the recently completed <2013 ACP CUP RIGA>, a rapid event won by Grischuk?

Thanks

chessgames.com: Here you go: ACP Cup (2013).

It really took place in Riga, right? Crowther writes <The ACP Cup was a rapid knockout tournament in <<Kiev>> that took place 13th to 15th September 2013.> but we guess that's a typo.

chessgames.com: <So, here is my idea: add a setting so that not only do you not see posts by people on your ignore list, but you also don't see any posts mentioning their name. ... Would this be feasible to implement?> Not in any way I can imagine.

Even outside of functional problems others have mentioned, the job of filtering all your readable kibitzes for specific words is asking quite a bit.

Sep-17-13  twinlark: Hi <ceegee>

There's a formatting glitch under the <Notes> paragraph of the bio at Alexander Alekhine. The square bracketed miniaturisation seems to be partially failing.

Any ideas?

Sep-17-13  twinlark: I fixed the problem but I'm not sure I understand it. The following link failed and displayed as follows: [bad chessgames.com link], but without the right side square bracket. Clearly the absence of it in the text caused the font to enlarge to default normal, but it appears here.
Sep-17-13  DcGentle: Hello <chessgames.com>

I want to create the following entry on the <sticky> of the World Team game:

GM Igor Smirnov on the Larsen opening (1. b3)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=21ZQ...

Video explaining important features of the Larsen opening.

Maybe this is feasible? The video is really good and was already praised by team members.

Sep-18-13  LIFE Master AJ: I am going to submit my win vs. Pat Ballard from the 2013 Louisiana State Championships.

Since you posted my loss against this player, posting my win is the ONLY fair thing to do ... not posting it will reveal to the world your true intentions ... ... ... and perhaps further sully your reputation. (If this is even possible!)

Domdaniel: How *not* to win Friends and Influence People: "OK, I want to use your website to advertise my achievements, even though you are beneath contempt ..." Not a good approach, really.

Sorry that you have to go through hoops to link outside of Chessgames here, but I think it's best we keep an eye on that process.

chessgames.com: <twinlark> I'm not exactly sure what the problem is that you are trying to describe, and since it's been fixed (or ameliorated) I missed my chance to see it.

If you could reproduce it in some random player page (feel free to use mine - Daniel Freeman) I would love to see what's going on. I am hoping it's a problem triggered by a mismatch of opening and closing tags, but it might be a more subtle bug. Thanks.

Sep-18-13  twinlark: Hi <ceegee>

Better still, I've reinstated the problem at Alexander Alekhine.

  chessgames.com: Fixed!

I mean to say, if you have a bad link in the list it no longer makes the formatting go screwy. (It was reinterpreting the brackets in the bad-chessgames-link part as markup code.)

I left the bad link in the list to demonstrate, but feel free to remove/change it as needed.

Sep-19-13  twinlark: Thanks. Had a hunch it might need a systemic fix. Any idea what happened to the consultation game that used to be linked?

Eggman: Hey, there. I notice that the infamous game A Ushenina vs O Girya, 2013, currently a hot topic on the Ushenina-Hou Women's World Championship (2013) page, doesn't show up on the endgame explorer under king, bishop, and knight vs lone king. Just thought I'd let you know.
