Feb-08-15  Colonel Mortimer: Same issue..
Feb-08-15  twinlark: Looks like no one can post there right now.
Feb-08-15  Abdel Irada: <twinlark: Hi ceegee

I'm trying to respond to a post that includes an ad hominem attack toward me on the Rogoff forum, but for some reason my posts won't "take".

When I push the "Post Kibitz" button the post remains on the Preview page without showing up on the forum in question.>

I'm getting the same thing both on <Kenneth Rogoff> and <Kibitzer's Cafe>.

Has the unpopular-opinions censor plan already kicked in?

Feb-08-15  lainulo: <possibly getting to critical mass for not feeding the trolls.>

welcome to the club ...the good, the bad...and the ugly.

Feb-08-15  Abdel Irada: I sincerely hope everyone here is now sufficiently familiar with <tolengoy>'s posting style that I won't need to tell anyone who <lainulo> is.

Feb-08-15  Abdel Irada: Hmm. I see the problem now extends to <Odd Lie>.

In fact, this page is the *only* one that seems to be accepting kibitzes at present.

Feb-08-15  twinlark: My forum is receiving posts, so I would assume is everyone's.
Feb-08-15  Abdel Irada: Hmm. So maybe the problem doesn't affect user forums?

I rather suspect that <cg.com> is in the midst of implementing some changes, and a side-effect is that they temporarily close most pages to kibitzing.

But that is *only* a suspicion. It would be great to find out what's really going on.

Feb-08-15  Abdel Irada: It is now confirmed that I also can't post to the puzzle-of-the-day page. :-(

Feb-08-15  rogge: PITA also means Pain In The A$$, he he :)

Good work, <cg>.

Feb-08-15  Abdel Irada: Is <chessgames.com> aware that members can't post to the puzzle page?

I'd think that would merit immediate attention.

SwitchingQuylthulg: <chessgames.com: Kibitzing brakes are already in place. Now the idea is to experiment with a rule that says "users with a high PITA factor suddenly have to cope with more severe kibitzing brakes." And how bad is "more severe kibitzing brakes"? That's up to me to decide. Two posts an hour? One posts every two hours? Two posts a day? I'll try to work something out that will not effect normal users in any way at all, but will force the problematic members to really think about every post they make.>

Nice to see you tackling the problem!

Going by the numbers given, limiting users to (200 / PITA score) posts per day might be a good starting point. If that means certain users in the 3-9 range can no longer write 100 posts per day, I doubt anyone will lose much sleep over it.

Feb-08-15  Gottschalk: <Shams>
I'm not Beaumarchais, but I believe in the ideals of the French Revolution.

When George W. Bush was elected president of USA, the English began to mock displaying a map with a yellow arrow
pointing to Britain. "We stayed here" said the sign on the map.

Daniel goes something like this , despite his effort to improve on the unilateralism.

Feb-08-15  Alien Math: <chessgames.com> registered members onlinr numbers also names change, anonymous users numbers change,

<Recent Kibitzing at chessgames.com> Recent Kibitzing Page appears locked on all browsers tested,

ping rate appear steady around 71-76ms

Feb-08-15  Abdel Irada: <Alien Math> is correct. There have been no posts (except to user forums) since the one <twinlark> was trying to answer.

Tabanus: <CG> I could not post in the Bistro.

I tried to encourage <twinlark> to make a game collection, but got rejected so I posted on his page instead.

Can you still read the rejected posts? Or just register that one was made (and by who)? Are the posts made invisible? Not registered by you at all?

Here I complain about off-topic posts and your messing up of 25% of my tournaments. Only to be rejected by a robot. I know your intentions are good, but I'd prefer a crap deleter with an attitude.

Tabanus: Regarding the Kenneth Rogoff page, if deletion is out of question, why not transfer all the kibitzes to say a Politics forum, and close down Rogoff for a while. On the home page there could be a second "Recent kibitzing" area for non-chess (Tennis, Baseball, Football, Maths, Statistics, whatever). Just an idea.

Tabanus: In the second "Recent kibitzing" area you could even have an "Odd Lies" forum (with no games or ref. to a player or person), a "Stumpers" forum, etc. It would mean that your site was not only about chess any more, but the chess you had might be better cared for.
Feb-08-15  bulibug: kibitzing brakes??? hmmmm....that would put a lot people go nuts...start praying for your sanity..... I'm glad I'm good for one kibitz a day....

CG now promotes gang activity....close associated people can now start butt licking sessions to control an individual as a form of censorship with no chance of defending himself....nice way to suppress freedom of speech. So much from the land of the free.

Tabanus: Or a "Rog Off" forum for that matter. I mean, perhaps you could ride two horses? One non-chess area, unmoderated, and a chess area, moderated.

<kibitzing brakes> I like the idea! Even in case I'm not an IAD or CAD (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intern...), we could all need a break. Say a week for some, a month for others.

Tabanus: <bulibug> It's not about suppressing your important contributions at large. It's about suppressing them in a given place and/or at a given time. For example, I would deny you in my bedroom.

And now I suppose I'll be denied even in this forum.

chancho: I just got a taste of Kibitzing brakes.

If the PITA score is implemented to slow down the trolling infestation, it works.
