 | | WannaBe: <z> Yankees called, the offer is $2.3m per year... |
|
| May-07-15 | | zanzibar: $2.3m/year seems a bit shy.
But still, you'd be surprised at what some people will do for $2.3m: http://www.click2houston.com/news/h... http://www.nsnews.com/news/frontman... http://chicago.cbslocal.com/2015/02... http://www.wfmj.com/story/27408562/... etc., etc. (yes, there's many more - seems to be a popular figure... go figure) |

| May-08-15 | | TheFocus: Admins, I wanted to point out that on Facebook, member Robert James "Bobby" Fischer has a lot of links back to game pages here. They have a lot of photos that were new to me. |
|
| May-08-15 | | TheFocus: And no, that is not my doings. |
|
| May-08-15 | | zanzibar: Nice photos, from the double-quote Fischer guy.
I especially like the Bobby boogie boarding. |

 | | chessgames.com: <zanzibar: RE: Photos> We're working on putting up your photos now. If you check you'll see quite a few of them are online now, including our very own David Moody. |
|
| May-08-15 | | zanzibar: Many thanks(§) for all the work you did incorporating the pictures on <CG>. It's nice to see a smiling face when visiting a player's page I think. Special thanks for the Cochrane photo - since we already had it. But the new one is an improvement, and maybe the best one around. (I wish I had gotten rid of the moire patterns in the background of Rotschild, etc. but I'm still photoshop-challenged, as they say) Thanks again.
(§) Of course, now I have to update my blog post. Ah, sweet revenge. |

| May-08-15 | | Abdel Irada: <Benzol: In view of the commentary here and with what happened the last time I tried to install a Java upgrade I'm somewhat reluctant to install the new update. :(>
I think I'm simply not going to until I hear the bugs have been fixed. ∞ |

| May-09-15 | | Abdel Irada: Actually, why is Vosteran still allowed to exist?
That website should be pulled down and its operators prosecuted. It is clearly no more than a criminal entity. ∞ |

Did you get my whistle report and accompanying email? There's no sign that you did, and the condition I reported has not been addressed. So let me make it clear: Ignoring the problem is not an option. ∞ |

 | | chessgames.com: <<cg.com>: Did you get my whistle report and accompanying email?> No, I'm just getting to it now, sorry for the delay.<So let me make it clear: Ignoring the problem is not an option.> We take this issue very seriously and in fact are about to make changes to our published posting guidelines to cover exactly such transgressions. |
|
| May-09-15 | | Abdel Irada: Thank you. Not to put too fine a point on it, such changes are overdue. ∞ |

 | | chessgames.com: ♔ Announcement ♔
For over 10 years we've gotten by with 4 posting guidelines. Today we added a 5th. <Don't post personal information of members.> By "personal information" we mean any information of the person's life which is not manifestly apparent by their screen-name and profile. This includes but is not limited to their real name, their profession, their family members, where they live, details of their current or past life, and photographs of them. It is against our rules to link to somebody Facebook profile, or profile on any other site which discloses personal information. It is against our rules to reveal a member's real name, if they have not clearly made that name public. Most users at Chessgames use pseudonyms to protect their privacy. Those who choose to do that deserve our full protection. We take this very seriously and transgressions are bannable offenses. |

| May-09-15 | | Abdel Irada: Okay. Where's that "Like" button got to?

 | | chessgames.com: A small code change that might effect some users:
On pgn4web, there was an issue that caused problems for people who are in the habit of scrolling web pages using the up-arrow and down-arrow. Pgn4web would take over and interpret "up" to mean "start of game" and "down" to mean "end of game." We disabled those shortcuts entirely, so that people can use arrows to scroll if they are so inclined. You can still easily to go the end/start of a game using the buttons marked >> and <<. If this change causes unexpected problems elsewhere please let us know. Thanks. |

| May-10-15 | | morfishine: <chessgames.com> Can Arthur Bisguier's name be added to the drop-down menu of the advanced search name directory? Thanks, morf ***** |
|
May-10-15
 | | chessgames.com: <morfishine> Sure. There are probably a few other giants from that era who are excluded because the software only sees the middle-tier FIDE rating they acquired when ratings were new. We can add them by hand when need be. |
|
| May-10-15 | | morfishine: <chessgames.com> Great, Thanks! I only noticed he was missing after seeing his incredible win vs Larsen in yesterday's GOTD Bisguier vs Larsen, 1965 and went back to search for the game ***** |

 | | Annie K.: <cg: <For over 10 years we've gotten by with 4 posting guidelines. Today we added a 5th.>> Guess that's growth...
Now I'd like to plead the fifth too, but I haven't done anything! ;p Minor nitpick: guideline #3 has 'users', while #5 has 'members' - should be synchronized. I prefer the term 'members', personally. :) |
|
| May-10-15 | | Jim Bartle: Very nice addition. I assume a number of <john barleycorn>'s recent posts will be deleted. |

<Don't post personal information of members.> By "personal information" we mean any information of the person's life which is not manifestly apparent by their screen-name and profile... > Do birthdays count (ex. posting their date and month, but not year)? Well, I guess it's not really a question, because there's no way to figure out someone's birthday unless they reveal it or someone else (or them) posts happy birthday... |
