| Jul-20-15 | | FairyPromotion: CG, the recent Ding Liren v Gelfand match reminded me of last year's Giri v Shirov match, but it seems like those games are not in the DB. Would it be possible to add them? The PGN files can be found here: http://en.chessbase.com/post/giri-a... |
|
| Jul-20-15 | | FairyPromotion: Also, on pgn4web the up and down arrows used to take you to the initial/final position, but this is not working since there was a minor change of highlighting the last move. A very very minor problem, but if it can be fixed, I would appreciate it. Thanks in advance! =) |

 | | chessgames.com: <on pgn4web the up and down arrows used to take you to the initial/final position> We intentionally disabled that because too many people rely on those arrows to scroll the page. We could set it as an option on the Chessgames Preferences Page if there was sufficient interest in that. |
|
| Jul-20-15 | | FairyPromotion: Oh, then that's fine I guess. Although maybe just restoring the h & l keys and leaving up and down arrows ineffective would be possible? |
|
Jul-20-15
 | | chessgames.com: Oh, I forgot about "h" and "l" — they ought to work. They must have been inadvertently disabled. Thanks for pointing that out. By the way, here are those games: Unive Giri-Shirov m (2014) |
|
| Jul-20-15 | | FairyPromotion: Well, that was quick. Thanks a lot for your effort! :) |

 | | chessgames.com: <MarkFinan>
Maybe you missed the memo, but there is a new posting guideline: <5. Don't post personal information of members.> IP addresses, street addresses, telephone numbers, real world names: these all count as "personal information". I am deleting a number of your recent posts, but if you continue you are on probation. I don't care what you do outside of chessgames.com but here you must stop. |
|
| Jul-20-15 | | MarkFinan: I was just typing that as I saw your post, your right Daniel you should delete it all I don't blame you. Not that he's a member of the site. But you're still right, you always are :) Anyway.. Am I seeing things or have you changed the colour of the lettering, the words, the kibitzing, because if not either I can add black to my colour blindness list (red, brown and green as it stands btw. Lol!) or have had a brain aneurysm and should probably seek medical help. Tipsy???? Lol. |

Jul-20-15
 | | chessgames.com: Mark, thanks for understanding.
<Am I seeing things or have you changed the colour of the lettering, the words, the kibitzing...> No, not a thing changed. Maybe check your screen settings? Hope your rods and cones are OK. |

 | | Penguincw: While on the topic of Chessgames Challenges, how about a Team vs. Team game? It's been 2 years since the last one. I keep asking in emails <when> the next Team vs. Team game will be, but it keeps being overlooked. :p |

| Jul-20-15 | | morfishine: <CG> Referencing this game: D Wedding vs H Erwin, 1994 Here's a better pun: "Wedding Knight"

Jul-20-15
 | | Annie K.: Because what parents wouldn't love <cg> for making them have to explain about wedding nights to their kids right then and there? ;s <Mark> (the other one), ;) are you talking about most of the text just disappearing now and then, with usernames and other bold text areas remaining visible? I've seen that quite a few times too. Not sure what's causing it yet. |
|
| Jul-20-15 | | MarkFinan: No Annie. When I have someone on my favourites I highlight their posts in the colour blue. When I copy and paste a part of their post I want to reply to I highlight the post by using <elbow brackets>. When I then post and kibitz, the letters of my part the post are orangey red as opposed to black. I've sent a screenshot to the admins because I want someone to see what I'm seeing, if not I have something wrong with my eyes, and only 3 months ago I had an optician appointment and they said I have great long (or do they call it shortsighted?) eyesight, except I need glasses for reading. I only started using them today <after> I kept seeing the posts as described. My eyes are now going blurry from trying to read the posts, I have no problem with my eyesight when I'm typing the posts. It's probably me but I'd still like Daniel to reply and tell me if he's seeing the same, he has a screenshot and I haven't changed any settings on any of my phones. I thought on a Samsung Galaxy Note3 (which are basically 'Phablets') my eyes would be fine.. Obviously not. <Maybe check your screen settings? Hope your rods and cones are OK> I hope their okay too, I just don't know what they are though. I'll google it. |

Jul-20-15
 | | chessgames.com: You're not talking about the difference between
<gold text that is embedded in one set of elbow-brackets> and
<red text that has a <gold> word nested inside of it> are you? |
|
| Jul-21-15 | | MarkFinan: No. This has only happened today. When I highlight my favourites in blue (As I nearly always have with no problem) the text is orangey red. When I read my post above the text isn't black. I've sent you a screenshot, if you can't see what I can then it's definitely my eyes, but this is the first time it's ever happened. |
|
Jul-21-15
 | | chessgames.com: I saw the screen shot; it didn't look unusual to me, other than one person using nested brackets. |
|
| Jul-21-15 | | MarkFinan: Then I've absolutely no idea why I'm seeing the above posts in Orangey red text. I appreciate you taking the time and looking and answering me though. Maybe it's because I was staring at a small screen for 30 mins solid earlier, un subbing all the newsletters and website the an EX chessgames dot com member subscribed me to. I'll have a day without a phone and see if my eyes get any better, but this has never happened to me before. |
|
| Jul-21-15 | | MarkFinan: Basically. I'm seeing <this kind of text in elbow brackets> as the same colour as the text I'm typing now. Anyway, like I said. Thank you for looking into it for me, I appreciate it. |

 | | OhioChessFan: Regarding voting for game collections, the fifth Aye voter is currently anonymous, since the voting record disappears upon a successful nomination. That strikes me as a bit unfair. Why not keep a record of the voting along with the nominated collection, maybe at the bottom of the page in the Administrative Tournament Editor? |

 | | Annie K.: <Mark> aha, ok. :) Well, if you find that reading from your mobile much is hard on your eyes, I recommend you go into the settings - lower the brightness some, and raise the contrast to compensate. |

| Jul-21-15 | | MarkFinan: <<scout118: <cg.com> Please note the post below addressed to a user in violation of rule no.3
<MarkFinan> I'd appreciate if you refrain from posting personal attacks in my own private forum in violation of rule no. 3. You post was duly deleted.
We may have had some disagreements but do yourself a favor and don't take things too personally, restrain your emotions and act like an adult.> >This post was brought to my attention by another kibitzer who I actually like. A rarity lately. Anyway.. A) It wasn't a personal attack, you just don't want me posting in your forum. So I think it's you who needs to act like an adult. B) I've posted things in Tpstar's forum and he deleted it too, I said nothing that could be perceived as a personal attack, although he does deem the word "unkind" as a personal attack, so I probably did offend him. And as I'm typing this I've just received 2 more emails (2 and a half years of obsession and infatuation with me that began on this site) from user kkderek aka Baron Harkonnen. These are what I call personal attacks, not 4 words in your forum that wouldn't have upset a small child. I'm trying to behave on this site, I suggest we just have a game of chess if you have any problems with me. After all.. This is a chess site, and apart from the Roggers I think all disputes should be settled by playing a game. |
|
| Jul-21-15 | | MarkFinan: Btw.. Another appointment at the opticians is needed, everything looks okay today. Sorry for the inconvenience. Computers give me migraines, and tablets and phones are starting to make me colour blind! |
