Domdaniel: What happened to Klu 58? It was solved but has now seemingly vanished, with no prize banner anymore on P Dargan vs S Williams, 2008

Annie K.: Just found a great pic of Sopiko Guramishvili (or is it Giri now?) at Qatar: http://static1.squarespace.com/stat...

According to the page:

<Media are encouraged to use the official tournament photos with indication of the photographer's name and source.>

The photographer is David Llada. :)

He may be beautiful, but I'm certain he isn't *that* beautiful.

Dec-23-15  sonia91: Glad to see cg.com followed SwitchingQuylthulg's suggestion.

An interesting event, which was covered by <cg.com> last year (Nutcracker Match of the Generations (2014)), is taking place in Moscow: the Nutcracker Match of the Generations, with Gelfand, Leko, Morozevich among others. It's a Scheveningen-style match between two teams: Kings (Leko, Gelfand, Moro, Najer) and Princes (Artemiev, Bukavshin, Antipov, Oparin, all strong Russian juniors). All games availabe on TWIC.

Today the classical part of the match ended.

I'm sure this tournament's average rating is much higher than US Open (2015) and Karpos Open (2015).

tpstar: <chessgames.com> Thank you very much for running the Holiday Present Hunt. It was a blast, and the Klus were fiendishly clever as always. You put in a lot of work to pull it off.

As long as this site is going strong, Albert's memory lives on.

Merry Christmas. =)

Either this site has gone down since you posted the link, or you've confused Christmas with April Fools' Day again. (Looking at the underscores in the URL, I'd guess it's the second.)

Dec-25-15  Abdel Irada: A merry Christmas to all who celebrate it.

Richard Taylor: <chessgames.com> Can you list this tournament? I have repeated what I said before. There should be PGNs. Nigel Short is on board one. Then 5 other GMs and about 4 IMs etc. There are now 70 entries in the Open which I am in also.

There might be some live games. You listed the NZ Open in 2015. This starts on Jan 2nd 2015. (Ina about 6 days.)

The New Zealand Open is starting next year (January 2nd). It is organised by GM Murray Chandler of Gambit books and the NZ Chess Fed etc There are already about 6 GMs entered including Nigel Short who is also due to play a simul against women only at some stage of the proceedings! The GMs are from Brazil, Lithuania, Germany, China etc and there are some IMs and FMs etc

I entered the Open with vague hope I might give another GM a fright, although I could have entered the Major Open. There are also lightening and Rapid tournaments.

It is a great location for a chess holiday by the way. Entries are still open.

Here are some relevant links:

Dec-26-15  zanzibar: Back to the routine... (and yes, the hunt was rather fiendishly devious)...

Looking for the two sisters playing each other in 2010:

http://www.chessgames.com/perl/ches...

Had to do a doubletake, one for each sister. It's a little confusing to see the same game listed twice.

Is <CG> aware of this behavior?

PS- I was also punked by <JFQ>'s Guardian (angel) link.

chessgames.com: <Richard Taylor> We'll include that tournament if at all possibly, but if I recall, previous years have proven that their technology is a little unpredictable. One year they provided PGN with lots of clock times in it, but we cleaned it up, then another year it took great effort to locate where the PGN resides, and I believe one year some rounds were missing. Anyhow, we can only say we'll do our best once the event starts.

I presume you're participating again this year? Best of luck!

<Is <CG> aware of this behavior?> Quite; you must be the 10th person to mention it over the years. It's a curious side-effect of an SQL query which is in all other respects perfect. (Arguably this behavior is also perfect, albeit unexpected.)

One day I might fix it by substituting a different SQL statement when that very circumstance arises; until then I don't think it's inconveniencing anybody too much.
