WannaBe: <Gottschalk> Your first PGN have an error (at quick glance), there's that $1. Second PGN is fine, PGN uploader should work for ya.
Sep-23-16  zanzibar: Does the PGN uploader bail out on standard $NAG notation?

I'm a little surprised.

(Never tried to submit a game with it, myself, I guess)

Sep-23-16  diceman: <WannaBe: <Gottschalk> Your first PGN have an error (at quick glance), there's that $1.>

WannaBe is really something.
You ask for his 2 cents, he gives you a $1.

chessgames.com: <Does the PGN uploader bail out on standard $NAG notation?> Not at all, but as a rule we don't like to have that stuff in our PGN. It's just unattributed annotation, and occasionally incorrect. <Gottshalk> We'd love to have new Fischer games, what is the source?
Sep-23-16  gauer: Looks like the former has been available for kibitzes for a couple years already: Fischer vs M Shifrine, 1964 (kibitz #13)

chessgames.com chessforum (kibitz #26072) - perhaps the PGN Upload Utility is taking its time on both (if they were uploaded together) because of that "NAGging" problem (sorry, I couldn't resist...). For the latter game, Manuel Miguel Pereyra Puebla and your suspect in question appear to match their pid file meant.

Sep-24-16  Gottschalk: Gentlemen,please,

Apparently the webmaster refuses to add games sent by me, because I posted many games and entire tournaments. However, I am happy to see that there is always attentive Fischer fans, thanks to which the game with Manuel Pereyra was added. Do You want me to post more Fischer games?

Sep-24-16  ooda: I'm sure you know about it but the Naka - Carlsen blitz match on chess.com should be pretty huge! Starts end of October, hope cg com has a page for it, there should be a lot of interest.

chessgames.com: We just received a batch of games to fill out Chinese Team Championship (2016). There are still a few missing but at least now we have the bulk.

<ooda: I'm sure you know about it but the Naka-Carlsen blitz match on chess.com should be pretty huge!> We normally don't get excited about Blitz matches but this one is a dream come true.

<Gottschalk: Gentlemen, please, Apparently the webmaster refuses to add games sent by me, because I posted many games and entire tournaments.> That's sadly somewhat true. Your file has become so many megabytes that the only way we could deal with it is to spend a few days processing it piecemeal. You're not the only one in that position.

There is a solution to this dilemma: a promise we've been hearing about for years, to create a streamlined upload system that allows individuals to upload games without any need for "the webmaster to add them." When this system is in place, the very first thing I will do is take hundreds of thousands of backed-up queue games over the years and dump them all into the new "Sandbox", Gottschalk's included.

When that day comes, you'll understand why it's been such a long slog accepting uploads. The quality ranges from perfect to horrible, and often things that look one way are the other. It's a multi-part process: looking over the PGN, making edits, uploading it, checking it again, taking the games that don't work, examining them by eye, making more edits, etc.; in extreme cases, I've literally spent the better part of an hour uploading a single game submitted by a user.

This is why PGN uploads have been limited lately to projects that the Biographer Bistro has been working on.

Meanwhile, however, if you have Fischer games feel free to skirt this state of affairs and get them to me by email, post, or carrier pigeon. Having new games of world champions is always a top priority. With new Fischer games, though, please try to indicate the source, as there are dozens of doctored or misattributed Fischer games floating around, especially the ones from simuls.

chessgames.com: Getting back to an issue from chessgames.com chessforum (kibitz #25980). (paging <Zanzibar> — I know this is an issue dear to your heart.)

As most of you know, the order of the general game lists are not presented in pure date order, but rather they are ordered by the year alone, so that tournaments played in the same year can appeared "shuffled" amongst each other, and there's no guarantee that the final games in a game list are actually chronologically final.

For instance, if you go to a page of (say) Hikaru Nakamura the final page of his games will not necessarily show his most recent efforts, but rather a gumbo of all of his games in 2016.

The site is currently undergoing an experiment to see if we can fix that. It required reindexing several tables on the larger date field than the tidy year-field. A few extra bytes, but this is 2016 and a gigabyte isn't the monster it used to be.

So now, if you go to player pages you'll now see the sort order in a more sane format! The pure-date order actually works (provided, of course, that we actually know the dates to the games.)

This may make some of the indexes we've built on the tables not work as efficiently, so I'm watching logfiles and fine-tuning where necessary to make this work as seamlessly as possible. So far, I don't see any great performance hit (although the past few days have been a little light) — so it looks like we might have solved this decade-old problem.

chessgames.com: Note to self: the Notable Chess Games needs an area, perhaps on the front page, which shows the most notable games of the current year.

The data exist if you go the the 2000-2019 block and scroll to the bottom, but this is information of topical importance and should be more prominent.

Tabanus: <CG> That's a great improvement. To judge from the list of games by Magnus Carlsen. To say something positive for a change ;)

Clicking on games 101-200 the link does not translate to "Magnus Carlsen" but rather to http://www.chessgames.com/perl/ches....

Sep-25-16  zanzibar: Well, <Hallelujah>, and pass the peas.

Which song is your preference then, Jeff Buckley or Leonard Cohen?

(Or the Bon Jovi?)

Even <Tab> is happy - it's practically a miracle on Earth!

Sep-25-16  Gottschalk: <chessgames.com>

It's a happy good new to know
that someday, we want to be soon, it will be available a new system to upload PGN.

I think, however, that the human side it's will always be present. I recognize the problem of authenticity and duplicates. I quote for example that many games assigned to Zukertort, were actually of Steinitz and Reti and even Amos Burn. Although chessgames is not, and perhaps should never want to be, the largest database of the internet, has other advantages as Kibitzer and game collections to edit, historical info, etc... We feel pleased to see that Chessgames.com has several features and handling facilities. But, above that, we like that Chessgames.com has a selected and reliable basis, as to the authenticity.

I'm suspended for using "obscene" words, yet I see intentional miss-spellings all across this site, for example typing ****, or *****, or other intentional misspellings, yet you focus on my one post and ignore all these others Thats about as pure of an example of discrimination as one could find. So on that note, ***** U awl, and have a gun nite>

What makes you think that the others who violate the rules aren't also being given infractions as well?

But now you know what it's like to join Harry and Travis in their little vacations. If this in unacceptable to you, we can do without your contributions.

chessgames.com: <Gottschalk> <I think, however, that the human side it's will always be present.> Absolutely; the entire premise of the Sandbox is that it can be a holding pen for games waiting for potential inclusion. Only people will be able to make the final determination.
Sep-25-16  Gottschalk: <chessgames.com>

From the above, I make the following suggestions:

First you must seek the help of a professional chessplayer who wishes to help, I think it will not be difficult to find one in New York. After a few hours, this master will broadcast you tips on how to operate a ChessBase program. Tips that sometimes chessplayers know, but you will not find in the ChessBase manual. So, this will help immensely, your job to sort games by ECO, year, transfer thousands of games at once, assign city / location to hundreds of games ...

Second, you can do an online search on the likes of member users. I can say I like almost everything So, before you submit a form to us, find where there may be conflict of interest. I think everyone will be for the maintenance of GOTD and master-move, then think about what the members would like to change to know the level of satisfaction. Even to know which resources should be more visible.

Finally, on the Fischer games, most refers to simultaneous at Wichita, 1964 and the level of play of opponents it's uninteresting. However, there are other. And when in doubt of authenticity, I promise to consult the views of this forum

Livelong success to yhi site.

Sep-25-16  Gottschalk: <chessgames.com> <[Sandbox] can be a holding pen for games waiting for potential inclusion. Only people will be able to make the final determination.>

Even better than imagined.
