| Sep-19-18 | | Boomie: It's been two weeks since Chessgames.com posted anywhere. This says to me that there is still no admin for this site. Sargon is a techie but apparently can't or won't chat with us. Is there any light at the end of this tunnel? |

<It's been two weeks since Chessgames.com posted anywhere. This says to me that there is still no admin for this site. Sargon is a techie but apparently can't or won't chat with us. Is there any light at the end of this tunnel?> We don't know, which is why any of us who wants to save their work, or forum posts, shouldn't count on the site lasting into the future. It could be gone tomorrow, for all any of us actually knows. Use the Wayback Machine. Use it often, if you want to save anything you did, or anything you like at this website: https://archive.org/web/ |

Maybe also it was premature to abandon plans for a community migration, similar to that of the notorious tit mouse, or brontosaurus. Maybe we could make a "just in case" plan to "meet" at chess.com and carry on camping. If we wanted to recognize each other in the new pasture, we could simply register using the same handles we have here at cg.com. At chess.com members are allowed to open any number of pages of general interest, which any and all can visit and kibbutz. One or many of these pages could be called <"chessgames.com orphans- please give us food"> or some such. One thing though- they have many admins there and they don't tolerate much guff. I doubt they would let a "Rogoff page" exist. That would be terrible, eh? |

<Sargon> is dead, long live <chessgames.com>! . |

|
| Sep-20-18 | | morfishine: Here's a post I left over at <Robed.Bishop>'s forum: <Robed.Bishop> I very much appreciate, your sober and sound comments and objective postings over at the <chessgames.com> forum I want to clear something up between <OCF> and myself, since this may shed some light onto his actions and positions on matters here at <CG>. When I first came onboard here about 10 years ago or so, he was someone I looked up to and followed. He was a huge advocate of following the rules, you know, no personal attacks, no off-topic posts, no obscenity, etc. I followed that idea by "blowing the whistle" often against people who were out of line, but not necessarily attacking me, (against anybody breaking the rules). However, when I began criticizing the GOTD puns a few years ago, <OCF> blacklisted me. He in essence became a hypocrite. Now, whenever I would blow the whistle, his tune became "Oh, his feelings are hurt, oh the little baby, etc.". <OCF> pursues whatever suits him, which includes him having to become a hypocrite. He's one to approach with great caution: The religious hypocrite can be the most dangerous snake <john barleycorn> is a different matter. He attacked a friend of mine <DcGentle> repeatedly during a challenge game a few years ago to the point I had to tell him to shut up or leave the game. Its been all downhill ever since. But its easy to see he's a cyber bully who finds posts he doesn't agree with and simply tells this person what an idiot he is. I've seen it a hundred times. I am no cyber bully at all. However, I will defend my friends and myself. <john barlycorn> has an unfortunate MO of just floating around and using his derisive, arrogant and condescending comments against anyone who crossed his path Sorry, nobody bullies me around
Nobody
Thank you <Robed.Bishop> for weighing in with your refreshing objectivity, its not your concern but its good to see people at <CG> who actually care about <CG> Best, morf |
|
| Sep-20-18 | | Tiggler: <morf> This is not the place for attacks on other users, even if your comments are accurate. You know very well the proper method for reporting misbehavior. Of which you are guilty, in this instance. No one bullies me either, as you also know. |

| Sep-21-18 | | JimNorCal: Have I missed updates on how things are going?
Is the site now considered stable?
Are game correction slips and blow the whistle notifications being processed? Will the Olympiad and World Championship be covered? Major tournaments? |

<JimNorCal>
<Have I missed updates on how things are going?> No.
I had one correction slip processed after <Daniel> died, but no pgn submissions published. To my knowledge, no member has had a pgn submission published since <Daniel> died. If any one has evidence that new pgn submissions have been published, please post in here? Again, I advise any and all to save what you like on the <Wayback Machine>. In addition, I do not think it premature to make plans for some kind of organized migration. <Chess.com> is the most promising place to go, in my opinion. Mainly though, I would love nothing more than to be proven wrong about this by the re-emergence of <A cg.com owner(s)> and <A cg.com administrator(s)> who has the time, and knowledge of <Daniel's> code, to actually administer this website. I see virtually no evidence of either of these necessary signs of site stability. Certainly none in the last few weeks. |

 | | HeMateMe: it would be reassuring if new tournaments were added to the home page, as they become available. It makes me wonder if 1) there is some sort of financial outlay required to do this or 2) technical expertise is not available to do so or 3) no one cares. In any case, it gives one an unpleasant feeling. this is the best chess site on the web, it's unique. Anyone can have lessons, tactics, etc., but the construct of this site is unique. I can only hope that it will be run up to the high standards it was run up until the untimely death of D.F. I'm guessing that whoever is running this site now has another full time job and this site is just a hobby. Perhaps adding another employee would be beneficial? Just a suggestion. |

 | | Chessical: It is now nearly two months since Daniel passed on. I and the many others who have enjoyed and contributed to this great site unfortunately remain in the dark as to its: current ownership, management and whether there is a plan to ensure its future. I respectfully request that these fundamental questions are addressed urgently. Otherwise, I fear for this site as subscribers may be increasingly reticent to renew and contributors to submit new material. |

| Sep-21-18 | | john barleycorn: The new CG management structure (inofficial version): CEO (Chief Entertainment Officer): <Sargon> as he is not very entertaining. CHO (Chief Historical Officer): <JessicaFischerQueen>. Her big chance in a lifetime. CPO (Chief Pun Officer): <morfishine> a "man of extreme intellect". CFCO (Chief Fact Check Officer): <saffuna> "Honest" is his 2nd name CBS (Chief Bull Sh-it Officer: <HeMateMe> too much Bud light can harm you seriously COMVO (Chief "OMV" Officer): <Nisjesram> namaste CSO (Chief Science Officer): <al wazir> as he matches the CEO in all respects. MCGA make CG great again. May the force be with you as I will be not. |

| Sep-21-18 | | Count Wedgemore: <john barleycorn: The new CG management structure (inofficial version):> Poor <zanzibar>. From day one after the webmaster's untimely passing, he has been relentlessly positioning himself for a prominent place in the new <CG>-administration. And now there is no room for him in the new cabinet! He must be devastated. On a more serious note: I'm sad to see that there is so much animosity between <morf>, <jbc> and <ocf>. I like reading the posts of all three. Too bad they cannot get along. But as I've saiid before: there are way too many grudges held here on <CG>. |
