| Sep-12-18 | | zanzibar: <CG> please delete my last post here (and this one too), if you get the chance: chessgames.com chessforum (kibitz #30878) It was accidentally posted in the wrong forum.
Apologies. |

| Sep-12-18 | | john barleycorn: well, I am still not suspended on the mighty "morfishine"s will. Shall I try harder to get suspendesd on my own initiative? <morfishine> might be sulking, but who cares about that minor intellect? |
|
| Sep-12-18 | | Robed.Bishop: <jb> I don't mean to be hyper-critical of you because I have no animosity towards you at all, but I simply do not understand your position. You post derogatory comments on your forum regarding <morphishine> and he complains. Management tells you that your actions are a violation of the rules and that you face possible sanctions. You leave the comments on your forum. It was your choice to post the comments in the first place, and that got you the warning. That seems fair, unless you don't think the comments violate a rule. But that doesn't seem to be your position, nor would it seem to be a strong one. It is now your choice to continue to post them in light of the warning, yet you state that it is <morphishine> that seeks your punishment. While it is true that he blew the whistle (and rightly so from his point of view), if you are suspended, you can blame no one (not <Nobody>!) except yourself. If you get suspended over this, <morphishine> is not the person who will be suspending you, management will be. At some point you have to take responsibility for your part in this, or do you not agree that you have any responsibility at all? While my personal views on this are irrelevant, I see it as a good thing that management is not simply doing what <morphishine> (or any other user) wants, but is handling it as he sees fit. Why is this bad? |
|
| Sep-12-18 | | Robed.Bishop: My apologies to you, <morf>, for misspelling your user name. |

 | | Annie K.: Hmm... I think maybe I get it. The Louis Stumpers page regulars... <john barleycorn> are you missing <Sneaky>? It's not <Sargon>'s fault, though. :( |
|
| Sep-12-18 | | Nisjesram: <johnbarleycorn> , a humble request to you : you saying something like :
1)"<morfishine> had it coming. I am not going to back down/cow down , ban me if you must" 2)why don't you instead act like your friend <winston> instead. <winston> said something like "i am going to be on my best behavior now that <big pawn> has been told to behave and has been suspended for the time being for accusing me wrongly of some very bad thing among other violations" 3) you too can similarly say something like "ok , i will be on my best behavior. And then i will watch <morfishine> too. He must behave as well" 4)why must we have schoolyard squabbling here on this site instead of intelligent , productive conversations especially now that admins are taking steps towards that. 5)supporters of <big pawn> saying why should <winston> not be banned . If he or me or anyone else does not behave , they should be banned. If <big pawn> commits to behave , his suspension should be revoked. It is not about reward and punishment. It is about having productive , mature atomosphere. If <winston> is behaving , then why should he be banned? Thank you

As a premium member you can check how many times <morfishine> called me an "imbecile" etc. pp.. I replied to a post of <saffuna> which by some miracle was "communicated" or "read" by <morfishine> who has me on ignore. Calling him a "professional numbskull" is way under what he called me.
I received a 2 hour suspension and one might argue about the "educational value" of that. In fact the reason given for the suspension might have hit the sensible <morfishine> harder. <REASON: Leave poor morfishine alone please. He can't take the heat.> |

| Sep-13-18 | | JimNorCal: For the game Tartakover vs Kostic St Petersburg 1909, I notice that when I view it with my phone, there is no link to create a correction slip. However, for the same game there is a correction link when I'm on my laptop. This seems like a bug. Or maybe my eyes are just not seeing it when on the iPhone ... Or maybe CG is very concerned with clutter for mobile devices and intends the display to be that way? |

2)point is you put that part in your bio.
3)in debates , people may lose their composure and may call each other names -some are more composed and mature than others. Some people call names because they are trolls , somme people call names when they lose composure in debates or when they getting after others called them names. 4)after sometimes , it becomes bygone , all this is buried under new posts/pages. 5)however, if it is put in bio , it does not become bygone ....it is always there in bio , everfresh. It is possible that i am not getting it.
However , the way i see it , admins were saying something like "<johnbarleycorn> , neither you nor <morfishine> is a troll , we believe . It is just that some debate got 'heated' , people lost composure . That happenes with the best (that is ,most composed) of the men . And now we want that none of you feels insulted , slighted etc and move on , without admins or others having to spend too much time on this insignificant matter" It is possible that admins were saying something like that. 2)if that were the case , your putting all that in your bio defeats the purpose. 3)if you take that part out of your bio and then make a case in kibitzer cafe or in some other forum that <morfishine> insulted you so often and you retaliated only once , then i will support you in that forum because i too don't like <morfishine> . He has insulted me often too. I don't like you either and you know that but that is a different matter. For now , the point is how to resolve this issue without making it any more ugly. I am saying your point seems valid and strong - that <morfishine> insulted you so often- and i am with you on that assuming it is true. Just please remove that part from your bio. That is how i see it. If you can see it the way i see it , fine , otherwise do whatever you think is appropriate from your perspective , sir. Thank you , regards

 | | al wazir: Daniel once explained what he felt makes a suitable puzzle: chessgames.com chessforum (kibitz #1025). He also listed criteria for Monday, Tuesday, etc., puzzles: chessgames.com chessforum (kibitz #3105). I have a hazy recollection of another post in which he described the search procedure used to find such positions. As I recall, the procedure was quite mechanical, but I haven't been able to locate it. If such a description exists, the current administrator may be unaware of it, and would perhaps benefit by becoming familiar with and adopting that procedure. If you know where it was posted, please provide a link to it. |

| Sep-16-18 | | Boomie: <Chessgames.com> Where is the World Junior Championship, which recently ended? CG has had a tradition of including this tourney in the database. World Junior Championship (2017) |
|
| Sep-16-18 | | JimNorCal: Yes, there have been no new tournaments since DF died. Sargon was able to complete and clean up Biel. Oh, maybe Sarg added Sinquefield. But no British Championship. No World Junior. Not the big Russian tournament a couple weeks back. Doubtless, adding new content is on the to-do list but it has not achieved priority yet. Is this something volunteers could help with? Or did Daniel do it all? |

|
| Sep-18-18 | | zanzibar: I think the question is what will be the nest tournament to get the front page treatment? |

 | | saffuna: <I think the question is what will be the nest tournament to get the front page treatment?> It will probably be a round robin. Maybe someone will play the Bird Opening. |
