Nov-15-20  Big Pawn: One thing, in the free speech zone, it might be mostly civil but it doesn’t have to be. No one needs to be nice in the free speech zone. You don’t have to be nice to me or respect me. It’s not a soft little place where proper ladies sip tea and work on their manners.

It’s a place where men can just be themselves without having to worry about sensitive women clutching their pearls all the time. Men don’t like to be “mama’d” and have women wagging their fingers at them like they’re children, telling them how to behave.

In case you haven’t noticed, men <enjoy> full contact political cage fighting. They like it like that. Why else would a group of men return to the same page on the internet everyday for ten years? They don’t want the ladies to rush in there and <fix> it.

Yes, the Rogoff should be chess, but wherever the men go to do their thing, leave them alone and let them do it.

saffuna: Actually we could stand to have some women posting on the Rogoff page. Might improve it.

Susan Freeman: <BP>. Reminds me of the old days in Toronto. The men had a second entrance and area inside the pubs. When I asked the management,? I was told men like to drink and let loose without having the constraints of women. They like to cuss and get rowdy

You can sniff out those left wing millennials. Can’t ya? Lol. 🤣

I have to talk to IT tomorrow re stopping Rogoff and enabling men’s clubs. 😜these things don’t just happen

I am still trying to strong arm Sargon to behave on the server Long story.

Susan Freeman: Hey < Saffuna>. I was given strict orders by Annie to never post on Rogoff. Since her departure I have posted a few things. It is not my place to post my political views
That would be CG suicide.
The smart ones know where I come from anyway.
I have enough arguments lol

Olga Viewer: +1 The idea for a "full contact political cage fighting" forum page - haha. In general, I think there should exist a place on most forums where the users can vent their steam (be crazies). Be it ranting or whatever. This area should be well labeled and only be limited by what's legal to post, plain and simple the idea of free speech; Not as <free> in all parts of the world.

Olga Man is perfectly fine - This account was set up simply for Olga development, but I don't have any other accounts - so I have assumed the role given and my desire is to serve this role to the best of my abilities 0_0 including the occasional pun and dreamy ideas about a utopian chess forum website.

saffuna: <susan> I just didn't want you to think <big pawn>'s views on women expressed above reflect my views. And from what I've read they don't reflect the views of others on Rogoff. A couple of people on the <Free Speech Zone> (sic), but no more.

Exactly!

< I have to talk to IT tomorrow re stopping Rogoff and enabling men’s clubs. 😜these things don’t just happen>

A wise decision indeed.

I also suggest creating a page like the kibitzers cafe, but for snowflakes. You could call it, “Snowflake Lounge” and people who cry easily can go there and be nice and polite to each other all the time. You could even have a special rule for that page: “No disagreements”.

Well, killing the Rogoff page is going to be like throwing water on the wicked witch of the west. All the munchkins will sing and dance in the streets.

Stonehenge: If people want to discuss Politics, Sports etc, let 'em buy a Premium Membership and open up their forum. It's as simple as that.
Nov-16-20  mckmac: <Stonehenge> This is a community. All communities need 'public places'. If these spaces are not planned for and provided then people will go and take the space that they need. Like Rogoff, here.

A private chessforum is not a public space.

saffuna: The Rogoff page has slowed down a lot this year, especially since the election, as the conservatives have either been posting less frequently or stopped posting altogether

There are a few exceptions, as when <ohiochessfan> steps in to insult us, but not many.

perfidious: <saffuna: <I agree it would be right to return the Rogoff page back to chess and @#$% down the politics.>

Pretty convenient of <big pawn> to pick this exact moment to want to get politics off that page. The biggest, most aggressive Trump fan on this site....>

It has long been a psychological puzzle why, given the advantages he claims to possess ad nauseam, <bumptious the prolix> feels the need to control CG and its content; after all, he offered to buy a slough of premium memberships a few years ago if the Rogovian miasma were cleaned up, in accordance with his desires.

Rogoff, on the whole, is a far better place since the beginning of August, with the departure of most of the cabal whose mantra is spreading hatred of those not as themselves. Guess the going got too hot for them.

Nov-17-20  optimal play: <saffuna: The Rogoff page has slowed down a lot this year, especially since the election, as the conservatives have either been posting less frequently or stopped posting altogether>

Jim, the reason the conservatives stopped posting on Rogoff at the end of July was because <Nozzle the Parrot> was screeching to the admins about every post made by a conservative, and they unfortunately indulged him and began to delete our posts.

This was an affront and so we moved to the Non-PC Free Speech Zone (aka Big Pawn's forum) where we could discuss serious matters in an open and frank way without being unreasonably censored.

<perfidious: Rogoff, on the whole, is a far better place since the beginning of August, with the departure of most of the cabal whose mantra is spreading hatred of those not as themselves. Guess the going got too hot for them.>

Alan, you are by far the worst purveyor of hatred on this site, so stop being a hypocrite!

You never contributed anything of value on Rogoff, only vile, disgusting, putrid, filthy innuendos.

The Rogoff forum should be taken away from the Leftist extremists who now rant and rave there incessantly, and returned to Ken Rogoff.

Nov-17-20  Ybr: <<optimal play><Jim, the reason the conservatives stopped posting on Rogoff at the end of July was because <Nisjesram> was screeching to the admins about every post made by a conservative, and they unfortunately indulged him and began to delete our posts. Oh, <nisjesram> was such a genius , such a great man . <Keyser soze> whistled on his posts and admin deleted his posts and from that point onward , <nosjesram> , instead of paying back the insults hurled by those people , started blowing whistle at their insults.

Even though credit goes to <nisjesram> , he refised to take credit. "If you must give credit , then credit must be given to <keyser soze " , says <nisjesram> in his typical self effacing , humble after cleaning rigoff forum of all the filth >>>

Hahaha

Indeed ! <Keyser soze> dezerves a lot of credit. It was not possibke for admins to show double standards after deleting posts of <nisjesram>

Hahaha . So in the final analysis , credit does go to <keyser soze>

Hahaha

Just saying :) cheers :)

saffuna: <optimal play><The Rogoff forum should be taken away from the Leftist extremists who now rant and rave there incessantly, and returned to Ken Rogoff.>

I invite people to read the current Rogoff page and decide for themselves whether we are leftist extremists.

Again, I do find it curious that <optimal play> and <big pawn> have decided they want the page "returned to Ken Rogoff" at the precise moment that their hero Donald Trump (the man they exalted at Rogoff for years) was defeated.

Nov-17-20  realdumptrump: Of course <saff> exposes Z-truth of the matter, i.e. too much w(h)inning by the losers.

<But let's face it, the fundamental(ist) problem will follow no matter where it goes, be it on Rogoff or elsewhere.>

(Rogoff is just one of the "Easter" egg forums misappropriated. Even <Dom>'s forum can be viewed similarly, now that he's no longer shepherding it.)

Moving discussions to a private forum (like <bippy>'s nFSZ, aka, the Catholic Defamation League) isn't the solution either, as private forums normally get shut down when premium membership ends (unless they get special status, like <Dom>, but beware misappropriation).

* * * * *

In a distant land, in a distant time, was once a proposal to have a biographer filter on forum posts - but it was never adopted.

The idea would be to promote posts with valuable biographical data for easy viewing - via some convenient nomination / voting process by editors and other gatekeepers.

A proposal that would cut out acrimonious and monotonous alike.

Nov-17-20  realdumptrump: To be sure, the fundamental problem is that open discussion gets misappropriated for pure abuse, such as this...

<Of course, the evil, wicked, moralless, depraved, disgusting, libs here don't care.> Kenneth S Rogoff (kibitz #451285)

<Of course, the godless, despicable, horrible, wicked, evil, disgusting pieces of human filth here don't care about that.> Kenneth S Rogoff (kibitz #451286)

Someone once inquired about examples of hate-speech here on <CG>. Well, there ya go.

The above weren't examples of parody, or sarcasm, but unguarded true opinions held by the poster, a purportedly well-respected elder statesman of <CG>.

Forgive me, but I think not.
