saffuna: <susan><It has nothing, absolutely nothing, to do with Trump.>

Just a big coincidence.

Nov-17-20  realdumptrump: "Wise words"?!

Oh dear. Sad, oh so, sad.

Nov-17-20  Big Pawn: <Susan Freeman: < Big Pawn> wise words. And let it be known, I have pondered this for a long time. It has nothing, absolutely nothing, to do with Trump>

No one in their right mind thinks this has <anything> to do with Trump. You would have to have a serious case of TDS to go there.

<After that, I will be posting exclusively on Offensive Truth.>

Correct. Many people have already registered accounts at OffensiveTruth.com, a site I put together really quickly (two or three days) so that we can post about politics without getting censored. This was back when my posts (Optimal Play too) were getting deleted left and right.

It would be better for CG if political posts were made somewhere else so that the chess aspect of this site could completely take over. It <is> a chess website after all.

The google bot should come here and see chess, chess, chess and nothing but chess, chess, chess.

I mean, a few political posts in private forums isn't a big deal, but half a million? That's a big deal.

So all are welcome to register at offensivetruth.com where we can experience full contact political cage fighting at its best.

Come here to <CG> for the live games, the database, the opening explorer and the chess related commentary. Go to offensivetruth.com to get your <Rogoff> fix and it's a win win.

Nov-17-20  realdumptrump: I told Daniel a long time ago he had a "big pawn problem".

The cows have come home.

  Olga Viewer: Poll Time!
Curious about what people feel is the most important reason for showing up (nearly) daily?

I'd like to see in % - this helps leverage an understanding of the Vinn diagram of users here, and what you care about. If you have multiple "puppets" please answer honestly for them as well -_- ( Mine below )

95% - Olga/PGN discussion and testing.

2% - Random LoL at the banter.

2% - Discussion about improvements to CG

1% - Actually reviewing some games from the database/engine.

For me, it is to play through old games and then to use the opening explorer, followed by checking out brand new games. The other thing is to watch the live games.

I especially like the really old chess games and the play bios. There's some neat stuff to learn about chess players from the 1800s.

True. I used to come here daily to see what the conversation was on the rogoff page. But for the first 8 years I came to this site, it was for the above reasons.

Reading posts, light interaction, some responsibility for helping out, the future of the CG website. I regularly read comments on games, Rogoff, various personal forums, the CG forum, and game pages. I like the personalities around here. Some more than others.

Features:
Game of the day - 15%
Puzzle of the day 15%
Player of the day - 15%

I regularly check those out.

Tournaments: 80%. I will check in to see whats happening!

Wait, I'm way over 100%!

Random games, especially key games, games of interest, etc - 20%

Analyzing positions and moves - 17%. I like the mental exercise of studying chess and im well built for it, but I'm not that deep in to it.

Thats enough. Good luck, <Olga Man>. Bring some good to this website.

Olga Viewer: Ok I love the replies so far! I am raising the pot and I call! <What is the number one chess related "thing" you go elsewhere (other sites, maybe walmart) for?? >

+1 for details on where and why. If this site is to grow it needs to learn from its mistakes (mature) improve and increase the positive things people love (Chess Bookie, Game of the Day, Puzzles, and other chess-related fun).

I think the concept of "Chess Games", when I think about it, should either be playing Chess (online or even through forum move by move) and/or games related to chess (not variants but games related to chess culture).

For instance, wouldn't a seasonal "Fantasy Chess" game be fun? Ideas of all sizes appreciated and welcome!

Nov-18-20  Big Pawn: <What is the number one chess related "thing" you go elsewhere >

To play chess.

perfidious: Now that a certain poster appears to have achieved his heart's desire, what will his next whim be? Have all the 'libs' cast out of CG for presuming to disagree with his racist, misogynistic views and raising their voices in dissent?

My personal forum will be open to those who wish to discuss anything--or nothing--at all and are not amongst those few who reside in iggydumb.

His heart's desire? <big pzwn> simply worships Trump, considers him the ideal leader and the perfect Alpha male.

And now his idol has been defeated.

chancho: I type chessgames on google, I get this:

https://www.google.com/search?ie=UT...

For Rogoff:
https://www.google.com/search?ie=UT...

The bot theory is nonsense.

Like <perfidious> if anyone wants to discuss whatever, my forum is readily available as well.

Being a premium member since 2005, I like the site, its members (there are some bad actors but that's a given anywhere) the dedicated chess historians (shout out to Jess) and the game database, the many game collections and the opening explorer. Add a place where members can play online right here and it would be ideal... that's my two cents. 😀😀😀

Check It Out: I agree with <Chancho>: create a new public forum and title it "politics/religion" or whatever, so that there is a lightning rod forum for such topics.

Check It Out: Regarding the Rogoff page, there have actually been some very learned discussions over the years. True, its become more a bickering, back and forth affair in recent years, but I've learned a lot from reading and interacting on the Rogoff page. It's not all junk as some would try to convince <CG>. Migrate it to a new public forum so you don't throw the baby out with the bathwater.
Nov-18-20  mckmac: <Check It Out> Well said sir. Couldn't agree more. I've put a lot of time and energy into my posts on Rogoff. If those pages are dumped, I will first ask for a refund and then leave for good. Then I'll sue ;)

perfidious: <Tabanus>, what point is there? A few years ago, the late webmaster publicly criticised one of my efforts, commenting that it was as dry as a weather report or some such words.

I do not propose, ever again, to be subjected to such remarks. My contributions in that direction have since, and will continue to be, de minimis.

offramp: As you know I don't use or visit the dreaded <Rogoff> page, so I don't care what happens to it.

It has always reminded me of a circular room containing two hairless baboons loudly arguing over the ownership of a hairbrush.

Except now one of the baboons has fled when it became clear they lost the hairbrush on Nov. 3.

Nov-18-20  nok: <Susan Freeman: I was given strict orders by Annie to never post on Rogoff. Since her departure I have posted a few things. It is not my place to post my political views That would be CG suicide.
The smart ones know where I come from anyway.>

It's obvious.

<mckmac: This is a community. All communities need 'public places'... A private chessforum is not a public space.> +1
